We are Virpus' provider and we are currently experiencing a routing table issue with one of our providers. We are working as quickly as we can to get this resolved. It's affecting the Virpus IP blocks.

hi aaron, can you estimate how long it's gonna be? thx,

The issue is that, while we are advertising Virpus' IP range to our provider, for some reason, they just stopped propagating them. I have 3 people on the phone with them running it up the chain. No solid ETA yet but they are trying to figure out what's happening.

The problem was on a Time Warner router in Dayton, Ohio. It took them a little while to find it.

This raises the question. I thought after the move that Virpus was going to be multihomed between Time Warner, Time Warner Cable aka RR and another connection? I have been in facilities before where QWest stopped announcing and InterNAP was still running the network.

Another time down?

Posted by jordanriane, 08-11-2008, 03:56 PM
It looks like it. Their main website (virpus.com) isn't loading, nor are any of the accounts I have with them. Myvirpus.com is loading though. While I love Virpus/Support, the amount of network downtime I've been experiencing is a bit of a downer, and it's pushing me to my limit. I'm close to moving everything to another provider ;\

I sent in a ticket about 20 minutes ago, so I'll update if/when I get a reply to it. *sighs*

Got a reply a few minutes ago, well, a network email rather.

it appears they are down again - they have been down for over two hours now!! so much for their promises of a BETTER INFRASTRUCTURE!!

What's down again? Their websites load (virpus.com, myvirpus.com), as do the 3 services that I have with them. Have you double checked to ensure it's just not your service that went down for some reason or another? ping virpus.com Pinging virpus.com [208.89.211.212] with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 208.89.211.212: bytes=32 time=41ms TTL=50 Reply from 208.89.211.212: bytes=32 time=1316ms TTL=50 Reply from 208.89.211.212: bytes=32 time=16ms TTL=50 Reply from 208.89.211.212: bytes=32 time=28ms TTL=50 Ping statistics for 208.89.211.212: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 16ms, Maximum = 1316ms, Average = 350ms
