ACEGX...Anyone know.

Posted by APS Enterprises, 06-25-2008, 01:04 PM
Hello, I have a reseller account with AceGX.Com and I went to check my account today and its not responding? I also checked acegx.com domain and that too has gone. Does anyone know if they have problems or if the data center they are on are having any issues. The data center they use if Softlayer... Would be interested to know if they have disappeared for good or what.

Posted by sTag-Dan, 06-25-2008, 01:25 PM
Nothing is responding. Try to reach them via this # +1.8009314697 Good luck!

Posted by APS Enterprises, 06-25-2008, 01:32 PM
Thanks. I will try that,.

Posted by APS Enterprises, 06-25-2008, 01:35 PM
I have called that number now and theres no one there to take my call, so left a voicemail. I would have thought that if they had problems they would have put a message on their automated system to let us know. Or something..

Posted by XeHSean, 06-25-2008, 02:26 PM
The site still appears to be down. How long have you been hosted with them? Is this the first time a problem like this has occured?

Posted by HostingTopSite, 06-25-2008, 02:28 PM
Usually ACEXG has been pretty good. I have only had a few problems so far, my server with a dedicated IP went up and down (Mostly Down) since 3:48am eastern today. I am chatting live with Softlayer right now and the rep there says that there are currently no problems on the softlayer network. They however will not tell me anything about the ACEGX account status or anything else. The Standard response is: Contact ACEGX.

I also am a reseller with AceGX. They seem to be gone.. I noticed they were always listing about 20-50 listing a day on ebay for hosting and they are all gone now. They always provided good support and service but I strongly feel they took off and now I have 40 resellers under me whos accounts are gone to explain this to. Its my own fault..I know better. Regards, Tim

So there goes another hoster... Silly thing is that I actually credited my account with them with 2months worth. If they're gone, I guess thats gone too.

Posted by tdurk, 06-25-2008, 03:07 PM
I could be wrong (hope that I am) but it seems this way... Sorry to hear about your payment credit. Keep me posted if you hear something.

Posted by APS Enterprises, 06-25-2008, 03:08 PM
I am still in my first month with hosting them, and this is the first big problem. Other things I noticed was their server loads were always very high, which i thought very concerning. Anything I can do to get my money back??

Posted by tigerhostinguk, 06-25-2008, 03:47 PM
Hi guys It really looks as if acegx has dissappeared. I have tried to contact them via their ebay username but had no chance and also tried to phone them on their support number which is 1.800.931.4697 if anyone wants to try them. They are based in America so you will have to put 00 before it. Anyway when i phoned that number i had an automated service which said press 1 for support so i did and then another automated response which said that support is not available. If any of you get any news on this then please let us know immediately as i have also tried getting info out of the data centre but they are no help at all.

Posted by HostingTopSite, 06-25-2008, 03:53 PM
A Whois seach came up with some contact information for you, however I don't know if it is till accurate or not: Administrative Contact: AceGX Tanya Hancock (Owner & CEO) +1.8009314697 Fax: +1.5555555555 P.O. Box 913 Owosso, MI 48867 US I might give the snail mail a shot. I'd like my money back too.

Posted by APS Enterprises, 06-25-2008, 03:54 PM
Yeh, I also have tried to call them twice. Once for Support and once for sales/billing Got nowhere.

Posted by APS Enterprises, 06-25-2008, 03:55 PM
Great, cheers for the addy. I think I might write to them too...

Posted by tigerhostinguk, 06-25-2008, 04:00 PM
Ok guys. Please update us as soon as you hear anything. I really couldn't see them dissappearing as they were always on the ball with their support etc. It was working at 11am british time this morning and nothing since then. It doesn't look as if it is going to come back on now as there is definately no data centre problem as i have spoken to softlayer.

Posted by ldcdc, 06-25-2008, 05:28 PM
There may be no technical problem, but there may be a billing issue at hand, which Softlayer certainly wouldn't make public or acknowledge in any way, as it is a thing between them and their direct customer only.

Posted by ivyrose, 06-25-2008, 05:59 PM
your not the only ones. I have numerous accounts in my resellers account and have no way to access anything. I have left about 4 messages. the last email I got from them was about 3 am this morning. I've had nothing but issues for the past two weeks and at 5:30 am i posted a reply to the ticket update they sent me.

Posted by tdurk, 06-25-2008, 08:35 PM
Ok...so no response all day by phone from AceGX. No notice sent out or temp. page on their website but I entered a dispute thru PayPal for my last month of hosting and got a response in 15 minutes. Posted below Hello, We are still here. We had our main disk array controller crash and the result was a corruption of all data in our entire server cluster. We are working on getting everything back up. We will have the new server nodes back online tonight. We should be able to start getting the accounts recreated in the next 12-24 hours. Keep in mind this is just a response to your dispute to let you know what is going on. As per the TOS (Terms Of Service) that you agreed to before being able to receive service from us you do not qualify for a refund of any kind. We will have a temporary page up in the next 4-8 hours further explaining the situation. Kindest Regards, AceGX - Administration Hmmmm sound right to you?

Posted by ivyrose, 06-25-2008, 08:39 PM
sounds like they should have at least let everyone know what was going on instead of waiting until they were about to loose funds. guess we will just have to wait and see.

Posted by iowadawg, 06-25-2008, 10:55 PM
Glad I found this forum and this thread! I have had a reseller account with them for 3 months now. Up until today, always had quick response via either email or the support ticket system. Woke up this morning and had an email from my brother-in-law moaning that his church site was not there. That was when I found out all my sites were down and out! Emails bounced, so I called. Like the others here, just an answering machine. Left name, address, phone number, etc. But about 12 hours later, nothing from them yet. What is a killer for me? No site backups! Let us hope Tanya gets us all back on by the time I get up in the morning. At least long enough for me to grab backups on all the sites so I can have them moved to another hosting company.

Posted by astonyau, 06-26-2008, 02:27 AM
Hi, i had sent them support ticket on the 12/6, 2nd ticket(4 days later....But there was not reply until 24/6..and that does not solve my problem..The reason given to me is because TANYA is involve in an accident...Since then i am not able to find the page until now..

Posted by APS Enterprises, 06-26-2008, 02:31 AM
Seems a little strange. Ok, so lets say she was involved in an accident, surely the payments are automated by now for the server? Also I know for a fact that there are other people working there, like Seann for instance. Also acegx.com wasnt hosted on the same server as we all are, so also I find that very intriguing especially as their main server isnt functioning AND their very own site. Why also remove their Ebay Auctions too? Now I am no Sherlock Holmes but to me, this is all very very fishy.

Posted by nitemare0, 06-26-2008, 02:50 AM
acegx.com is probualy through after this, they had a horrable time earlier this month when trying to phase out php4, it didn't work and the server went up and down more times then my yo-yo and those thinking of getting there data and leaving, well the dispute responce shown above said all data was corrupted, so...at this point i'm planning for the worst, in that everything is lost... they have lost my buisness, i'll be starting the server downloads IF there is any data left to salvage, then moving on, and spreading my disgust for this company everywhere i go

Posted by astonyau, 06-26-2008, 02:50 AM
This was what Acegx reply to me:- Tue, June 24, 2008 8:27 am We are able to guarantee a 30 minute response on normal support related issues. When a ticket has to be forwarded to administration we can not promise/guarantee a response time as there are only a few of us that are in higher management/administration of AceGX. We are a bit behind the normal 4-8 hour response time because the Owner, Tanya, recently was in a very bad car accident and we are trying to get everything caught up and taken care of in her absence. Anyone has any idea am i able to get my money back because it is only my first month with them? Can i lodge complaint to paypal? What will happen to our domain?

Posted by APS Enterprises, 06-26-2008, 03:04 AM
So basically they are telling you that Tanya does everything. The company I work for, our CEO was put in prison for 25years with no chance of parole, but did that stop the business running?? No.. Get the point I am trying to make? I hope Tanya does get better, and that shes not too badly hurt as it would appear that the whole business cannot function without her, and I am sure she will be mega peeved when she does get back to her normal routine, and find all her business has dissappeared.

Posted by Azza70, 06-26-2008, 04:42 AM
I have also noticed that yesterday (AM Australian Eastern Time) that my site dissappeared. I have been with them for approx 5 days after obtaining a website resellers website off ebay. Problem is I have had the script uploaded for me and do not own a copy as yet. Where to from here?

Posted by APS Enterprises, 06-26-2008, 05:00 AM
Where to? Cut your losses. I would say. This appears to be just one example of why people should always go with someone whose established, registered and all that. I honestly thought that AceGX were good. I had used them before, thought they were a bit pricey but support was good. Things started to go down hill when they phased out PHP4. Which they reckon was causing some severe CPU loads. That didnt clear itself out when PHP 5 was finally "Stable", and I use the word stable very loosely. Someone is always getting rich off someones elses misfortune, and it would appear that there is alot of misfortune going on.

Posted by ivyrose, 06-26-2008, 05:50 AM
well just my thought but I have begun to transfer some of my clients to another server. I haven't seen a temp page come up and now I'm not sure if I can even recover my own sites too because I dont have the one database backup I need. I know I've had nothing but problems with them from the start when I transfered over at the end of february beginning of March. Seems they were having one issue after another. Cpanel went goofy, someone hacking this or that, upgrade gone wrong. seems they were kissing my rear end to get me to go over and now look. sad part is they were highly recommended too. since the last upgrade or fix I've had a support ticket into them since the 16th and who ever is on staff can't seem to read because I have to state the same thing over and over again. seann seemed to be the only one who knew anything but i'm even starting to doubt him now. seems to me that if there was an issue like they claim that they would have something up or notify us somehow. sites are still down at this point and no word on anything. it's just disgusting.

Posted by ldcdc, 06-26-2008, 06:02 AM
It's often the case with the smaller hosts that the owner qualifies as a single point of failure, and it's unfortunately a thing to be taken into account when making a purchase. I'll move this thread to the outages forum.

Posted by ale212, 06-26-2008, 07:55 AM
This is freaking me out. I would be happy if they just put up a temporary page advising they are working on the problem.

Posted by afhostin, 06-26-2008, 08:38 AM
Yes a temporary page would be more polite. I like there support services as well. It would be hard to see them gone

Posted by APS Enterprises, 06-26-2008, 09:48 AM
Personally I dont think they will be back. Look at the evidence given. 1) AceGX.Com is down. Hosted on a completely different server than their main one (208.xx.xx.xx) 2) Their Main Server is down for over 24hrs (67.xx.xx.xx) 3) All their EBAY Auctions/Classified ads are gone too. 4) They arent answering any phonecalls. Unless anyone else has got anything that says differently?

Posted by tdurk, 06-26-2008, 10:38 AM
As per my message before. They were able to send out a very professional response to my dispute thru PayPal is 10 minutes flat. They had to get the message from Paypal at their main payment email address "shown as paypal@acegx.com", login to paypal and post that response in that short time, but don’t have the time or knowledge to get their website back up in 28hrs. I dont think so.....

Posted by APS Enterprises, 06-26-2008, 10:39 AM
I agree with you tdurk.. It is very very fishy..

Posted by iowadawg, 06-26-2008, 11:29 AM
Or at least allow us (especially me) to grab database backups and site backups! Guess today I go hunting for a new host company and start all over again. Which is going to be fun without databases and site files!

Posted by APS Enterprises, 06-26-2008, 11:35 AM
Good luck to us all!

This is all I have. Got a 'delinquent invoice" email yesterday saying I was paying on PayPal and I am set up auto pay on credit card. They charged my acct. May 28th for one month. No response on emails or phone. Their site is down also. I am so tired of these scammers. They can change in a second to another site, server, etc. We found them on EBay. Notice how many are now on EBay at the same price $9.95 a month. I am sure if we checked all of them we would find this sleeze. It's a real ordeal cancelling an automatic charge to a credit card or stop payments on a checking acct. When I had so much trouble being "down" a lot I contacted their server,(look up servedsafe (Server IP: 67.228.134.60 Nameserver 1: ns1.servedsafe.com - 74.86.167.111 Nameserver 2: ns2.servedsafe.com - 67.228.134.63) They did not know them by ACEgx. I should have moved then. Good Luck WHOISIT info: Domain name: acegx.com Registrant Contact: AceGX Tanya Hancock P.O. I am in the process now of setting up hosting for those sites of mine that I can get up. My blogs and a few others, I hope at some point soon I can get in and get backups. Otherwise, I start completely from scratch! And lose a ton of money refunding advertising, etc etc

Posted by yourbigsite, 06-26-2008, 12:50 PM
This does not sound good. Lets hope they have not done a runner. Or at least let me get latest copies of backups.

Posted by ivyrose, 06-26-2008, 02:10 PM
is there any way we can contact the provider they used so that we can get access to at least our databases?

Posted by darmath, 06-26-2008, 02:56 PM
I've been keeping an eye on this thread ever since i found it after realising that my AceGX reseller Master Reseller Account and website disappeared two days ago. I have had the account less than 14 days. I would have loved to have cancelled my account and got my money back but alas there is no one to contact... Anyhoo being a complete newb to what i had signed up for i've found re-reading of the advertisement that was on the eBay listing from which i bought to be somewhat comical: "Unlike other hosts we don't hide anything and we do it for one reason, pure customer satisfaction. At AceGX we are here for our clients! We strive to provide a service level that no other hosting provider can touch. That is our promise to every one of our clients! When ever you have phone, ticket, or even email correspondence with AceGX we strive to include every last detail we possibly can and we do it in a timely manor (responses usually under 10 minutes). We don't hide behind our terms or our policies. We are as upfront about it as possible. Unlike other hosts the majority of our policies are to protect our users. We don't set you up under a TOS that gives us every reason and right to terminate your account and run off with your money. Which is what you will find a lot of on eBay." LOL perhaps they were prophesising? o.O Why of course we aren't going to run off with your money right? o.O LOL can someone say ********! Makes me question just how shady people are in this business area.

Posted by ldcdc, 06-26-2008, 03:32 PM
Many businesses that sell hosting on ebay follow a pattern: sell as many cheap accounts as possible giving anything and everything the customer could want; keep doing so until their real usage makes it impossible to provide what was offered; close up shop; rinse and repeat. May this host be the exception to the rule. $10 per month will entitle a customer to say 1/200th of a decent server's computing capabilities. Heck, let's be generous, 1/100. That is the reality of what those money can buy. The more successful the company is at selling unlimited reseller accounts (not to mention if they're master reseller), the higher its chances of starting to lose money - unless it start kicking out customer who use more than they're paying for. Reseller hosting is not to be confused with shared hosting. Things that may apply to one (and even there it's a stretch), make no sense for the other.

Posted by iowadawg, 06-26-2008, 03:38 PM
I knew one host about 2 years ago on ebay. Sold the heck out of reseller accounts at like $49 per year. Yes, I got one. Then about 60 days or so later, closed up shop! But first closed their stormpay account.

Posted by ivyrose, 06-26-2008, 05:05 PM
well yeah I always backup but heck I just installed a program and was time consuming so no backup of it yet. infact, i'm sitting here on a laptop after having surgery today and still i'm working. there should be someone we can contact? I deal alot in the WAH field and I have seen stuff like this happen and there is someone you can contact. who is the served safe registered to? all I can find is it's private. I also did some searching yesterday and I found directions to tanya's house but not another phone number. sorry i'm not the type to let things rest and I won't and these ladies I deal with won't either. they just got scammed from a gal posing to have cancer and so they are in rare form.

Posted by ivyrose, 06-26-2008, 05:36 PM
I just got off the phone with softlayer to report her as a scam artist and to get access to the sites. The guy gave me this phone number to call, 214-442-0605. I do believe that is who she is going through because I gave him my IP address for the site and he didn't deny it. I then called the number which is a recorded message but to make a long story short you need to send all your information to abuse@softlayer.com and they will get back with you. they say it's monitored 24/7. I have also sent an email to the paypal address for them and for seann. I know I had sent two yesterday and the one is being delayed. if the emails are being delayed and not working then how did they get the information from paypal? need less to say I'm not gonna let this go as this now is becoming a serious case of fraud and I will not let it go on. If it does I will be contacting the authorities in michigan and so forth.

Guys, I had an interesting experience similar to this and the way we dealt with it taught me a few things: 1. Almost every state's Attorney General's office has a branch that deals with fraudulent online merchants like Tanya (if that is her real name) 2. The reason why so many of these crooks do what they do (set up shop, make money and run without providing advertised services) is because victims like us love to simply 'talk' about it and 'do' nothing. 3. Thanks to my last experience the crook responsible had a nice 'visit' from the local authorities cyber crimes unit and he/she/it ended up making a few reluctant refunds. The good thing was that they were not as 'invisible' to the law anymore. 4. If they have any hint they are 'wanted' for questioning, they will be forced to at least open the shop long enough to build a good story to tell, and at the same time allow their victims to backup their databases and find other hosting companies. Having said that, here is the link for Michigan AG's Office Online Complaint Form. https://secure1.state.mi.us/complaints/consumer.aspx I am quite certain if we send enough complaints about this fraudulent resident of that state, their Attorney General will have someone pay her/him/it a 'visit'. Guys, we can whine and complain all we want but until we actually do something, crooks like Tanya and her sidekick Seann will keep ripping people off. You can be sure, they are monitoring Google and sites like this to see what we are thinking or DOING so in the words of one famous brave hero..."Let's Roll!"

Posted by Doggins, 06-26-2008, 06:40 PM
Most importantly guys: This is what you get from buying 'unlimited' reseller plans... theyre impossible to really work! Yes, I bought this for $9.99 off ebay, but just to test them out for 1 month (now thank goodness) I cancelled on my first month In their defence, AceGX were definately the best I'd seen on ebay, but I knew they wouldn't be around for long. The most obvious sign for me is when they said they'd been in business for over 3 years, the domain was registered a year ago (I support new hosting companys, but at least be honest about it) I do hope that Tanya is OK though, I dealt with her on email a few times and I think she was really trying hard to get AceGX off the ground. I really hope the story about the car crash is untrue. Perhaps its just a case of someone trying too hard, and overselling the crap out of their servers... I dunno, thats just a hunch anyway, what have we learnt? stay away from 'unlimited' resellers stay away from ebay P.S I'd tried calling the phone number a few times when the site was up & running, and they still didnt answer the phones, it just goes to voicemail. So thats nothing new

Way I am looking at it, time is too short. Could be all kinds of problems she is having. Give her 96 hours at most to do something. But already in the process of moving some sites to another host.

how can you access your site on the acegx server if it's down? I lost all my files.

Good point Doggins.......if they were real professionals and had treated us with the courtesy that every paying customer deserves. Here we are 48 hours after ACEGX disappeared off the radar screen with our sites and our customers'. I have personally kept in constant touch with my own customers, 1. so they do not feel deserted (even though they are losing money as we speak) and 2. because I understand what it means to have a responsibility to your customers. For all I know, Tanya and Seann have totally neglected us and the promise of a Temporary Site to explain what is going on never materialized. Why do they deserve the benefit of the doubt exactly? Judging from the M.O. of most of these 'companies'(as most members of this forum will agree) if you hear nothing after 48 hours....and I mean NOTHING, they will DISAPPEAR. I guess the ball is in Tanya's court now to prove all of us wrong, or maybe get Seann to fix the problem if she is indisposed.

Ok i am a host on ACEGX.COM i am also now setup on Softlayer and I DID verify that they did have a massive FUBAR at the data center, and their site was simply set to run on a diffrent set of ips but was on the same server. I lost a TON of sites when this happened as all my clients are local companies this is a major set back. So I am going to be patient and see what happens from all this and how much data was lost although. I do hope they come back online so i can get my data up on the new server As I am not a new company this is going to really hurt my reputation around my area plus i just renewed and set up a whmcs package so

Posted by iowadawg, 06-26-2008, 10:54 PM
Still hope yet I guess. Will see come morning here if any of my sites come back live.

This company has been real good to me for about 3 months. Always quick to respond and my uptime I havnt had any issues with, besides a server switch they did a month ago. However I think it is just about safe to say any hopes for this company coming back are gone. Although very hard to believe I think they have run off. Hopefully most folks were paying month to month and havnt lost a huge amount of cash to the company. Ths largest lost is the downtime of our actual website's. Then having to reupload them all. Huge inconvience just when I though I had found a good company.. What company are you guys going with now? By the time I finished writing this post I see acegx.com looks like they may be trying to come back online. There still may be hope....

man.. that sucks for you guys with active accounts This was on their TOS (thanks to google cache) 5.) Backups and Data Loss Your use of the service is at your sole risk. AceGX is not responsible for files and/or data residing on your account. You agree to take full responsibility for files and data transferred and to maintain all appropriate backup of files and data stored on AceGX servers.

Hmmmm...I sent a blank email to that address and never got a reply. Well, I wonder who the "some of you know" bunch is? Guess that I have lost everything according to that email reply. Got one word to say about the whole mess, and it is not fit for print!

Posted by maxpcuser, 06-27-2008, 12:51 AM
I guess it boils down to keeping all your eggs in one basket. This is what i get for not keeping an active backup since early early may

Posted by ivyrose, 06-27-2008, 02:21 AM
I just happened to wake up for some reason and checked. she now has a message on the site saying they are working on the cluster nodes to get back online and send a blank message to an email address. just thought i would let you know.

Posted by kdp20, 06-27-2008, 02:40 AM
I think ACEgx read the forums and is getting scared, because if a serious problem arose, like everyone's website going down, why wouldn't you put an automated message on their telephone system at least. Last edited by kdp20; 06-27-2008 at 02:53 AM.

True. Think I might ask for my money back now...

Posted by ale212, 06-27-2008, 03:18 AM
How can you have one server, 8 hard drives and have all 8 hard drives part of one RAID system. At least 2 of those hard drives should not have been part of the RAID and should have been used for backup.

Posted by APS Enterprises, 06-27-2008, 03:28 AM
Whats more amazing is that they can quickly sort out their domain name, and email and stuff, yet the people who put AceGX where they are (i.e. us), have to keep suffering until such time that its all fixed. I am so frustrated right now.. Also what makes me laugh is how if they supposedly have 8TB of hard drives, that not one was used for backing up. So its again a case of, "we have 1 server, which we want to fill up as much as possible and get loads of money from. We dont care about our clients and their files, just as long as we put a clause in our TOS we have backed ourselves up"

Posted by ale212, 06-27-2008, 03:46 AM
If it's just the array that has been corrupt, then these are the steps to recover the data: To recover a RAID 0 array (and therefore the lost data), the following steps must be taken: 1) Determine the order of the physical disks in the array 2) Determine the stripe size 3) Back up relevant data in track 0 from all drives (such as the MBR, partition information, etc) 4) Re-create the RAID 0 array with the correct settings 5) Restore the MBR and partition information, therefore restoring the file system

Hi Guys I have just received the following email from AceGX - Hello, This is the only message that I will be sending out during this time. Seann is here helping me type this up. He will continue to update this auto responder until this is resolved. My health is not for the best right now but I will continue to do what I can to get this resolved. As some of you know the disk array for the cluster became corrupt after a failure of the Raid controller. We have replaced the disks and the originals have been sent out to a 3rd party to recover any data that they can. At this point it is not looking good. There were 8 1TB disks with almost 2TB of data that has been lost. This includes our own site and the backups as we did not download the updated backups of our own site before this happened. We will be setting up a temporary site to start taking orders from clients. After we have verified your payment history with our credit card processor or PayPal we will manually setup your account. Billing dates will be set to August 1st unless you have a different payment term. If you paid quarterly, biannually, or annually we will set the billing date to the 1st of the next full month after your payment was made. After your account is created you may upload your backups to your home directory and submit a support ticket. Our support team will restore any backups that you have. If you are a master reseller please make sure to include the account structure and to which reseller account the backup belongs to. Please continue to send blank messages to status@acegx.com for further updates. Kindest Regards, Tanya Hancock AceGX - Owner & CEO

Did you have to send a blank email to status@acegx.com to get that email? If not, then it could mean they have recoverd customer information and therefore recovered the data.

Posted by tigerhostinguk, 06-27-2008, 04:28 AM
Yes you only need to send a blank message as it's an automated reply email

Posted by ale212, 06-27-2008, 05:10 AM
Currently that's the only way they can notify their customers. All their customer data is lost except their paypal records. They must recover this data. I beleive they can recover it. Because it's just the array. All the hard disks are fine.

Posted by Doggins, 06-27-2008, 08:10 AM
looks like the main acegx.com domain is down again

Posted by iowadawg, 06-27-2008, 10:08 AM
Comes up for me.

Posted by ale212, 06-27-2008, 10:53 AM
The data must be restored. If the data is not restored, Acegx will loose their entire customer base. There is no way all the data can be lost.

Posted by DeanClinton, 06-27-2008, 12:19 PM
I'm not a customer of theirs, but this whole situation you are in seems fishy; I bet they didn't pay the bill and their server was wiped. If some can access the site and others can't, then it sounds like they've moved the server and it's IP - so DNS propogation will need to take place. Don't forget, it looks fishy but it could have happened. If I was one of their customers, i'd be running for the hills.

Posted by ivyrose, 06-27-2008, 12:25 PM
ok, i just tried to use the ip addy for my cpanel and I got the pop up window. i tried to log in but it didn't work. i'm thinking maybe we may be getting somewhere?

Posted by ale212, 06-27-2008, 01:20 PM
There must be a backup somewhere. Anything is better then nothing. There must be a backup from when the move was made from the old server at least.

Posted by yourbigsite, 06-27-2008, 01:34 PM
fingers crossed. I fount out they where down when logging in to get my backups for a site I had just finished and got working! How unlucky is that! I hope they are telling the truth and I hope they can recover data! Data from a historical backup would be better than nothing!

Posted by mrgoodgie, 06-27-2008, 01:47 PM
alright, here's what I find funny... taken directly from my purchase on ebay. 1. You wont find anyone else on eBay and very few hosts in the world offering service on servers of this class!!! To top it off we use failover cluster node virtualization technology to always ensure your sites are online. If you want proof just check our server/network stats here: (lol, obviously not there) 2. As some of you know the disk array for the cluster became corrupt after a failure of the Raid controller. A failed raid controller causes data loss? I was under the impression that the array would just need to be rebuilt, but hey, what do I know? 3. Up front and as personal as possible: Unlike other hosts we don't hide anything and we do it for one reason, pure customer satisfaction. Which is what you will find a lot of on eBay. ...ok, we'll see. My beef? I just got started 2 weeks ago and had finally completed setting up and completely customizing/branding my WHM, Cpanel and WHMCS. Honestly - JUST finished the night it went out. Couldn't look at it the next morning. Am I to blame for not backing it up? I suppose, but I certainly wasn't expecting Acegx to go down and lose all my data RIGHT when I finished. I'm taking care of my customers that I had transferred. Their sites were up for all of a week, then down. Not happy campers. At least they have somebody who responds to them (and gets them back up immediately on another server). I had left countless messages with Tanya's ebay account and phone number - not one was returned. So far, one thumbs down. Let's see what transpires within the next 24 hours. That is my breaking point. I feel terrible for all those that have customers served by Acegx right now.

Posted by yourbigsite, 06-27-2008, 02:09 PM
I know, I am going to give them 24 hours also to get a full story off them, it does not seem to be very concrete at the moment. Although if everything they have said is true I do feel sorry for them. Thank god I have another reseller account on an old server that I can rely on. I have managed to transfer my customers emails to run thought that - Their main priority. Just need to see if I can get my site that I had just finished for them. I can not believe that it has just gone!

Posted by yourbigsite, 06-27-2008, 02:41 PM
http://cn3.servedsafe.com/ (one of AceGX) Servers is back on by the looks of the apache message below still no sign of the acgx site or temp message: If you are a member of the general public: The fact that you are seeing this page indicates that the website you just visited is either experiencing problems or is undergoing routine maintenance. If you would like to let the administrators of this website know that you've seen this page instead of the page you expected, you should send them e-mail. In general, mail sent to the name "webmaster" and directed to the website's domain should reach the appropriate person. For example, if you experienced problems while visiting www.example.com, you should send e-mail to "webmaster@example.com".

when did you get the email? I have received nothing. I tried sending an email to the status email and have not received anything back.

Posted by iowadawg, 06-27-2008, 04:55 PM
I have yet to receive word one from them. I used the site email (site down again) twice. Two different email accounts. None of my sites are up, I don't have any hope for my sites to come up. Altogether, waste of my money and my time to use these people! And if Tanya reads this, good.

Posted by kdp20, 06-27-2008, 05:39 PM
Yes, these people are a joke. She sounds like she's ready to defend herself in court not apologize and make things right. "Those of you that are posting threats and other related comments please kindly refer to the TOS (Terms Of Service) that you agreed to before being able to receive service from us. The policies are in place to protect both our clients and ourselves."

Posted by ivyrose, 06-27-2008, 06:13 PM
well maybe she should read her own words on her own site. i'm not going to do anything harsh as of yet but if this continues I may be reporting her to the BBB and/or the attorneys general office. I noticed the other day she has been doing false advertising on the site for php 4 which they no longer have had for what two weeks now? seriously not happy. but while I manually transfer these sites I can i will give her the benefit of the doubt as this may have been out of her control. however i'm even debating that.

Posted by yourbigsite, 06-27-2008, 06:19 PM
Google cache save my skin! Take a look at it if you had pages you want to recover. It did not cache any images but I had an earlier version of my layout saved so I am relieved somewhat. Although it will take hours to put right. There goes my Sunday evening.

Posted by maxaud, 06-27-2008, 06:47 PM
Well, I bought a reseller plan from them last week and this happened... I may still be able to get a refund through my Credit Card Good thing for me is that I didn't transfer any of my websites over yet as they couldn't straighten out DNS problems they were having. How would one go about getting their domain away from AceGX?

Posted by ale212, 06-28-2008, 12:23 AM
The customers make up the entire value of the company. How can they have 8TB of disk drives with only 2TB used and not set aside a few of those drives to be used for backup.

Posted by ivyrose, 06-28-2008, 07:41 AM
I did get an update here a few minutes ago. the only thing that bothers me on the whole thing is they had stated before and even a few months back when they were changing the clusters they were keeping some for back up purposes. anyway here's the update I just got. Update 6/28 - 3:30AM EST: We have completed setup of all cluster nodes and will have the client area/portal online by 8:00AM EST. Sorry for the delays. We are doing our very best to ensure there wont be any further issues. We have setup two seperate Raid-10 arrays. One array will be used only for backup and the other for user home directories. We will now be keeping weekly backups of all accounts with the option to upgrade to daily. This is to ensure that we no longer have the single point of failure and that we will not have this issue in the future. We have implemented WHMReseller v3 on our Master Reseller cluster nodes. We will be placing a limited number of Master Reseller accounts on each cluster node. We only have 2 Master Reseller cluster nodes online at this time and will continue to setup an additional cluster node for each one that reaches our set limit. We will be placing links to the packages on the AceGX.com home page once the portal is online. An invoice will be generated from the order and we will update the invoice as paid and setup your account as soon as the information is verified. Please make sure that you only select the services that you had previously so that setup of your account is not further delayed. Please also make sure you do not pay this invoice. We will not be accepting new clients at this time. Those of you that have been monitoring this situation that are not clients please do not place orders and further disrupt this situation. We have lost a lot of time, money, and most likely clients because of this situation. We apologize for any related losses that our clients have had as well. We assure you we have done our very best to make sure that this does not happen in the future. I will post another update to this address before 11:00AM EST.

crap, I accidentally paid again. I thought I had to enter my card info to complete the invoice process and clicked continue and it said thanks for making a payment.. shoot. That's two refunds I'll be asking for now.

Posted by shabaranx, 06-28-2008, 03:20 PM
Guys, as predicted earlier, these people are full of ****! and I was right about the ACEGX dream team (Tanya and Seann)checking google and any forum to find out what people are saying or thinking about them. Let's all face it - These losers have lost any credibility whatsoever, lost all our data and they have the balls to hide behind their so-called Terms of Service to blame us for not backing up our data. Hey maybe it's because of all the false assurances we got about how great their service was. We trusted them and they betrayed that trust by burning us. Here they are now asking us to come back and start afresh with them as if nothing happened. I don't know about you guys but I lost a few customers who are pretty pissed off, not to mention how much money I lost. If the whole idea of going back to ACEGX is to start from scratch then I say it is not worth it. Obviously, these people have no freakin idea what they are doing and I bet they feel it's okay to blame us for not backing up our data but they didn't have to, under the 'fortified' Terms of Service. As I predicted, once we turned up the heat, they would respond and they did. So how about we put them out of business by finding other companies to do business with. I mean we were going to start from scratch anyway, right? There are a few good suggestions on this website. As long as they have no customers, they'll pack up shop and disappear. Afterall they do not deserve to be in business anyway. I will wage a personal crusade to make sure ACEGX never burns anyone again. I ask you guys to cancel your accounts (only if there is nothing to recover from them) and find another company. By the way, I paid six months in advance and I am not asking for a refund. I am personally donating the money to help Tanya with her medical bills. Hey, at least I am more thoughtful than they could ever be.

Posted by mrgoodgie, 06-28-2008, 06:15 PM
I agree. Who here can vouch for a good company that backs up their data and has REAL systems in place to ensure that their servers don't go down for days on end? I'm serious.

Posted by ivyrose, 06-28-2008, 10:12 PM
I totally agree 100%! So what if they were checking the forum. It's there problem and they have to deal with it. I had just paid for my month of service. I will be contacting paypal to see what I can do about it (at least let them know I won't stand for it) since it was my paypal debit card I used for the month. I had planned on leaving on the 1st anyway because of too many problems they had with the server. I transferred in March and every month it was something. Oh someone hacked the server, someone did this with avi files, oh we have to work on this, then what totally ticked me off was the fact they did away with the php 4 which is what I needed to run mine and my clients scripts. I was able to get the scripts to work but they were not working properly. I submitted a ticket on the 16th and they still would not respond. I finally submitted a totally different ticket on how I personally felt and told them I did not want them to tell me "it's beeing looked into" or that "our senior admin was working on it". To me that was just to by pass the time because they either didn't know or didn't want to deal with the issue. I do plan on contacting whoever I can and will be submitting information (as I have saved all emails they have sent) with proof of their wrong doings. They have totally lost any bit of creditability with me and my clients at this point. I had clients wanting to leave but when they found out I had transferred them already they stayed. But still I have to credit them for the days there were down. That is money out of my pocket which I think should be refunded to us. There terms of service is a joke. I wish I would have copied it before the server went down as by now they probably have changed it and would say "ok go here". Don't hold up on me. Of course did you read the part they wrote in the email? "We will not be accepting new clients at this time. Those of you that have been monitoring this situation that are not clients please do not place orders and further disrupt this situation." WHO'S GONNA WANT TO? Come on! Get real!

Posted by ale212, 06-29-2008, 01:25 AM
A Raid10 backup drive is overkill. It's fine to use a Raid0 for backup and those hard disks can be replace only when they fail. The hard disks that make up the primary drive should be replace with new ones each year. With 8 hard disks running 24/7 on a Raid0 with no backup, I'm not sure they are as experienced as they said.

Posted by APS Enterprises, 06-29-2008, 04:10 AM
I have also decided to leave. So they can kiss my custom good bye. I had only just "revamped" my site, and this crap happens. Oh well.... Such is life ho hum..

Posted by Vailant, 06-29-2008, 09:17 AM
Hi, I paid for a year, plus a dedicated ip, ssl certificate, the billing software I lost my data, my clients and my time to create everything. I asked my money back and this is their response. "As the payment date was "Apr. 21, 2008" you are not within the 14 day refund period. Please open a new ticket if you have any further questions / issues. Please refer to our TOS: wwwdotacegxdot)com/tos(dot)html Please open a new ticket if you have any further questions / issues." Always the same answer. Can we do something against them?

Posted by yourbigsite, 06-29-2008, 12:36 PM
I have a year with them. I am going to get a reseller account else where. Not sure what to do with my remaining time with them.

Posted by shabaranx, 06-29-2008, 01:12 PM
Yep, That's the same old B.S. from these sorry asses. It's just like telling us "we screwed you, took your money, left you with some unhappy customers and you can't touch us because we are hiding behind our 'almighty' TOS". You gotta love the impunity these guys have. In my experience I have seen the 'spirit of the law' trump 'the letter of the law' too many times to know they CAN be held accountable for this. As I said zillions of posts ago, let's get the Attorney General of Michigan to help us interpret this 'wonderful' TOS, shall we? This Forum has been gracious enough to allow us to vent our anger, frustration and disappointment regarding this sorry excuse of a company. The Forum DOES also provide valuable advice on better options and alternatives. I HAVE since found a better company and started the painful process of getting all my clients' sites back online...SO FAR SO BETTER.

Posted by ivyrose, 06-29-2008, 01:43 PM
ok correct me if I'm wrong but if your billing date was 4/21/08 and the server went down on 4/25/08 and (from their TOS - unhappy for any reason)and your 14 day period is not up until 7/5/08 how can you not be in your 14 day period? Last time I checked today is 6/29/08 and 21 from 29 is not 14. What school did they go to? The school of stupidity?

Posted by Vailant, 06-29-2008, 03:02 PM
ACEGX deleted all these ads on ebay. Strangely the number of negative feedback increases ) Finally, I'll try something else seriously. If you can advise me an honest society I am taker. Sorry for my bad English

Posted by maxaud, 06-29-2008, 09:02 PM
I've gotten word back from them. They've refunded me my year of reseller hosting (currently pending through Paypal) and my accidental payment to them when signing back up. They've also helped transfer my domain. No complaints from my end at this time.

Posted by maxpcuser, 06-29-2008, 09:26 PM
well it makes good sense for them to remove the ads from ebay at the moment if they are suffering from an outage it would be worse if they are having site trouble and new people try to sign up i am giving them the benefit of the doubt

Posted by THawes, 06-29-2008, 11:41 PM
I've already taken my friends as well as my own sites to a new company. AceGX started off great for us about 6 months ago or so, but has slowly gone downhill with their rough server swaps, and big issues phasing out PHP4, and then this. So, I'm sure I'm not alone in saying "Goodbye AceGX!"

Posted by Doggins, 06-30-2008, 12:22 AM
I think AceGX should definatly re-think their strategies, this is a great example why you can't offer unlimited storage & unlimited bandwidth for such a low price. I'm sure Tanya has lost a lot of money!! Those who are going to keep supporting them, I think, good on you, but I don't really understand why? Anyway I hope they get back on their feet because I did think they were going to have a very bright future... its very unfortunate for them this happened, but its a learning curve I suppose

What on earth are you talking about? Who are you going to sue? The company which probably has shares that total $1. Or the employee of the company that was responsible to manage the server? You can't sue employees of Limited companies. You can't sue directors when their employees stuff up. You can only sue the company. And anyone with half a brain knows it's not worth it. Where lucky this thread hasn't been shut down because of you. By moving to another host you have become a competitor of this company. Do you have any idea what that means? Everyone has at some stage in life had to deal with a customer like you. We all know the type. The one who makes threats to everyone and thinks everyone is scared of of him and thinks his the customer who's always right. And everyone just has to suck it up and take it right?

Ale212, Everything about this whole disaster has been very unprofessional. Even down to Tanya bringing out her "sickness" - to try and create sympathy and calm the waters, in my opinion. Shabaranx is right. I think that AceGX needs to lose their entire customer base and start over. Many of us did as a result of their mismanagement and disrespect for our data. Heck, they're so screwed up they didn't even have a backup of their OWN site or customer list! Tell me how professional they are. As compensation for this trouble, what do we get? A month hosting with a company that can't be trusted. A months hosting with a company that will lose your data and then hide behind a TOS. One month hosting with a company that lies about their customer support, server status and more on their 1000+ ebay listings for unlimited space hosting. One months service which costs them nothing and would have cost us $9.99. I'll tell you one thing, the trouble this has caused is worth far more than $9.99 to me. Am I going to sue anyone? Nope. I'll simply leave - and I'm just one of many I'm sure.

Posted by ale212, 06-30-2008, 11:39 AM
Some of us happened to like AceGX. Tanya sounded like a nice person. We trusted the company and we believed they would look after us. We would not have signed up with them if we thought for a second that we would be hanging by a thread. But we do not know the exact circumstances that caused this. Most likely they did have a backup system. And most likely they did everything that could be reasonably expected from a web host. And as a result of natural disaster we have complete data loss. I certainly hope that was the case. We all now know that the AceGX company is now worthless, we should never have purchased services from a company that is not well established with significant value. Now we are all screwed up the a*s. Thanks AceGX, thanks a lot. Last edited by ale212; 06-30-2008 at 11:48 AM.

<< Removed >> ale212, I understand how frustrating it must be to even attempt to defend ACEGX. However, your personal attacks on me will be seen by everyone on this forum for just what it is....A SILLY PLOY TO SHIFT THE ATTENTION AWAY FROM ACEGX. How come you are not attacking all the other members who don't agree with you? Threats? Harrassment? Goon, are you even reading this thread? Once again.....uhmm....what?! It must be so frustrating you are not even making sense any more. Guess what? I will spare you the agony. This is my very last post on this Forum because really, I have accomplished what I came to do - get together with other pissed off customers and find a solution to our common problem , ACEGX. If you really read this forum, you will realize that your Friends at ACEGX are finished. Me, I have better things to do like re-building my customers' websites and getting them up and running. I understand your anger, my friend so I am leaving this forum for you. The sad thing though is that you will have to find someone else to blame for all the crap ACEGX put all of us through in order to take the blame away from them. I wish you the best of luck in whatever it is you do, ale212 ....or is it Tanya ...or is it Seann. I hope you know how difficult it's been not to resort to stooping to your level in this exchange. Process that.........along with the refunds ACEGX must be shelling out as we speak. To all the other members of this forum, thanks for a spirited discussion and I wish you all better service with your new hosting companies. And of course, the biggest thanks to Web Hosting Talk, for providing a forum like this that could put up with 'my type'.......and even ale212. Adios Amigos! I have reopened the thread after a little bit of cleaning. Remember guys, no personal attacks or anything of the alike. Being mean, spewing hatred or anything of that nature is not going to make the service return any faster. Remain professional, optimistic for now, and I think you'll be surprised at the results. There's no need to attack, if you want to review the host, by all means feel free to do so in the Main Forums. But attacking them here is not going to make the service return any faster, it's only going to increase the tension.

Shabaranx, I know you are going through this like the rest of us, so I'm calling a truce. I'm sure many of us have had little sleep and have been working around the clock to recover what's left after AceGX decided to leave us up the creek without any paddle. Human nature dictates that the more a person believes that threats and harassment will produce good results, the more negatively they themselves respond to it. That is because the more a person is inclined to believe in making threats and harassment, the more primitive their nature.

Hi, I agree with shabaranx 100% We have nothing to reproach us, I will not assume the responsibilities of others. ACEGX should have at least propose to make a gesture of goodwill towards its customers unhappy, and not use the TOS as a weapon of defence. I am not satisfied, it is my most fundamental right.

ale212, Could you tell me how much money have you lost with ACEGX?

Posted by mrgoodgie, 07-01-2008, 10:10 AM
Alright, here's my experience with quitting after this disaster. I joined less than 14 days ago, so am entitled to a refund. I sent my support ticket regarding my quitting and asked for a refund. 10 minutes later, my email goes down & my website switches to one belonging to somebody else (their whmcs). I immediately send an email to AceGX asking about the refund and demanding that this site be removed from my domain immedately. Their Response... We cannot respond to you because we don't recognize your email address as being a customer. Wow. Fantastic support, and they are in no way going to give my money back, I know it. And to load somebody elses WHMCS to my site.... well... that's just wrong in so many ways. Oh well, at least I haven't left my eBay feedback yet!

They handled my refund promptly since I was within 14 days. Maybe you paid with a different email address?

Yes I have sent 2 tickets to them about my directi domain reseller account as I need to get in there and I am locked out - They are very responsive and then forward my ticket to another department - I have not heard anything since! Done this twice now!

Acegx.com has gone again. Where have they gone to? Who knows?

Posted by masterhosting, 08-15-2008, 03:52 PM
don't know i had posted a thread before they went again , as i have web monitoring on my website and they were down for approx 16 minutes , then came back but gone again another day. I wonder they do not email to clients what happened and when will be it cleared , they don't keep a record of client ID's or they merely neglect ?? Starting they were good but ....

Posted by yourbigsite, 08-16-2008, 03:44 AM
they used to be really good - I do not use my hosting with them now - I only really se their services for development and backup since I have a few months pre paid.

Im quite sure i know i have a vps, seems i orderd one and the server matches the spec, anyways where have they gone as i want mah cash back this is like 3 weeks downtime in the space of 1 month they want shot with shi*

Ackers1 - acegx are not very good at all. I used to have a reseller account with them, then they went down for days and blamed it on a raid disk failure.. So I gave them the benefit of the doubt, went back with them, and lo and behold they sucked even more. Whenever I raised a support ticket with them I got the same response every time. "Senior Admin Will Assist You Shortly" That would be the last I ever heard of their "Useless" support team and the ticket would remain open for days. STAY AWAY FROM ACEGX AND ALL ITS SERVICES. If you want a decent VPS server go to wiredtree.com. Their prices are great, their services are great, THEY ARE GREAT!!

Posted by Davagator, 08-21-2008, 11:21 PM
how long have you been with wiredtree.com? I've never heard of them until your post.

Posted by APS Enterprises, 08-22-2008, 04:42 AM
About 6 months. I migrated my business with another and the new owners still are using them to this day. You really should check them out my friend, you cannot get a Fully managed VPS with this good spec, good network connectivity and uptime as you can with Wiredtree. I only heard about them on this WHT, but do a search, and I am sure you will find nothing but good reports about them. Last edited by APS Enterprises; 08-22-2008 at 04:43 AM. Reason: .
