Hi, Just noticed iMountain are down Anyone know anything about it? It's down for me too. I'm guessing it's a temporary network problem. But, not sure. http://host-tracker.com/check_res_ajx/2133957-0/share/ All the best,

It's down for me as well. Seems like everyday lately, my site has been down for some time =( Hopefully everything gets fixed soon.

maybe it isn't only DNS. I think it is their whole network. I just tried logging in via FTP by my dedicated servers IP addy and can't get in either. They did have a DDOS attack the other day. wonder if that is what is happening again. hyperspin reported downtime so far 27 minutes

When did the DDOS occur? I have noticed some minor weirdness with my sites on web25 the past few days but mainly I have been attributing it to my ISP (Time Warner) acting up, like always. I think it was Friday. Web25 always seems to have high load. I have a shared account on it and run status2k. I watch the load go nuts sometimes. Since I only serve static stuff from that server, the high loads don't really hurt me.

Looks like they have nameservers on two different networks, but I'm getting no connection to one and 90% packet loss to the other. Could be a ddos...

try calling them 909-397-0900 ext 3121

Do they have redundancy now? or they are still limited to RR?

Posted by DJSlim, 01-12-2009, 06:11 PM
Do they have redundancy now? or they are still limited to RR? I think only RR. not 100% sure though

Posted by Cirtex, 01-12-2009, 06:12 PM
Their main site seems down here as well.

Posted by mistafreeze, 01-12-2009, 06:21 PM
They have been having issues all week with DDOS. Their main site has never been down this week though. I hope they can somehow fix it's driving me crazy. I haven't been able to keep my site online for a full day in over a week =( They told me earlier this would no longer be an issue after Monday =(

1 hour 6 minutes down

Posted by mjsbigblog, 01-12-2009, 06:25 PM
What I hate the most is not knowing what's going on. They should be reachable, somehow no matter what.

Posted by anawaz, 01-12-2009, 06:26 PM
Sounds like the DDos issue continuing from yesterday, but yes, the imountain.com page has never been down. Disturbing, indeed.

I think it was Friday. Web25 always seems to have high load. I have a shared account on it and run status2k. I watch the load go nuts sometimes. Since I only serve static stuff from that server, the high loads don't really hurt me. Yeah it does. My Ontario Weather Service site is on that server; along with all the other sites that I run; so I kind of make a game of watching the load jump from 2.0 to 10-15 and down to 4-5 or so. One time it went way past 50 or 60 because some other guy was sending out hundreds of emails at once (thankfully Invision Power Board allows admins to see all the processes running on a server at once ) so I reported it to their tech support and the load went back down to the more "normal" 2-3 range. I was on your site the other day and saw the server status script you have up. (off topic I know, but still). It will help me out for whenever I can't easily check the server load since I now know that you have an account on the server as well. Just wish they could fix this as my co-admin is IM'ing me on AIM saying "WTF IS THEIR F@!%ing problem f#&*&ing call their @$$es up gdmnit".

Posted by anawaz, 01-12-2009, 06:29 PM
And this time email is out too. No good.

Posted by DJSlim, 01-12-2009, 06:30 PM
i am not giving up on iMountain but I am getting another hosting account right now and uploading my data from a backup server just to be safe I just hope they get this figured out. Couldn't be worse timing for MJ and myself with American Idol starting tomorrow night

I am curious when they plan to get some redundancy. From previous threads, they don't to have any power redundancy, so I am wondering if that could be the issue also.

From previous threads, they don't to have any power redundancy, so I am wondering if that could be the issue also. when people start leaving. not saying I am leaving them. They have been great to me but downtime like this can't happen. when there is downtime with them it is always something huge and serious.

I've generally enjoyed imountain, their customer service response time is generally very quick, but I agree, no matter how good the customer service is, being down for hours is never good! =( especially when its about an hour a day or more (as of late)

I agree their response time is quick, very quick and they do everything they can to help you whenever and wherever they can. I just hope this isn't a continuing trend.

...always something huge and serious. Like no redundancy on their "cluster", "solar power" and no UPS gear of any sort?

Posted by calidude, 01-12-2009, 06:43 PM
*Ignoring above flamebait* I wonder what's going on. Hopefully Brandon or someone else from Imountain will come by soon to update.

Posted by mjsbigblog, 01-12-2009, 06:44 PM
So, folks are trying to call them, but nobody is picking up the phone?

*Ignoring above flamebait* I wonder what's going on. Hopefully Brandon or someone else from Imountain will come by soon to update. assuming they have internet to get on here and let us know

So, folks are trying to call them, but nobody is picking up the phone? i called once about 4:50 and no one answered. they probably are working on the issue. I guess that's what I would want them to do instead of answering the phone every 2 seconds when one of us calls

Posted by mjsbigblog, 01-12-2009, 06:47 PM
Does anybody remember how long that big outage in October was? 19 hours or something like that? ETA: I've worked in tech support. Somehow, they have to find a way to do both--work on the issue AND keep customers informed. I don't expect minute-by-minute updates, but they should let customers know what's going on...

Posted by Kaiser Sose, 01-12-2009, 06:48 PM
There support is great, being a bit slow of late but generally I have found them first rate both staff and hosting and they offer excellent value for money. But I am half thinking about a move to the cartika HAL system, its time like this when you cannot find out whats going on that really do get to me.

Posted by DJSlim, 01-12-2009, 06:56 PM
i think that hosting companies should host their site from a different datacenter then their own, that way when their stuff blows up they can still talk to the customer.

Posted by mjsbigblog, 01-12-2009, 07:06 PM
I just got some email messages from their email servers... ETA: The main site is back on line... And I'm back up... Whew. Gah. I hope this is the end of the problems....

Posted by Kaiser Sose, 01-12-2009, 07:09 PM
My sites are up again and email too. Hope they let us know whats going on and what will be done to prevent it happening again.

Posted by mistafreeze, 01-12-2009, 07:10 PM
Email said a router had a problem, hopefully all will be well. =X

Posted by mjsbigblog, 01-12-2009, 07:12 PM
I just got this email: Dear Clients One of our routers developed an issue earlier today and caused us to lose connectivity. We were able to replace the router with a spare on hand. We did just reboot some servers just now so if your site isn't immediately up, please wait two to 3 minutes. We apologize for the downtime, as of right now, the servers are working correctly. iMountain.com

Posted by Steven, 01-12-2009, 07:14 PM
I bet it was a power issue. You don't reboot servers because there was a router issue. Stop jacking us around Imountain. Webhostingtalk is not stupid.

I am able to load 'imountain.com' fine now

Posted by calidude, 01-12-2009, 07:23 PM
You are aware there is such a thing as power circuits? Nice try bashing me. Never mind not going to respond to your anti-Imountain comments any more. Looks like we went back down for a few minutes, anyone notice this?

Posted by CarSafety, 01-12-2009, 07:25 PM
No issues here. FTP server hasn't gone down again, I've been downloading backups just in case...

Posted by DJSlim, 01-12-2009, 07:28 PM
Never mind not going to respond to your anti-Imountain comments any more. Looks like we went back down for a few minutes, anyone notice this? I am back online fine now. I finally got my blog to load. took me a little longer since I got a second hosting account and added the nameservers to my domain name. since the imountain nameservers were failing, it was reverting to the other ones and still doing it after imountain came back online
