ResellerZoom Down

Posted by sharepoint-hosting, 10-16-2009, 11:31 AM
It seems to be both my site and resellerzoom.com down now.

Posted by Xecutech, 10-16-2009, 11:37 AM
I am down too! This is how I found your thread, while searching for answers. Even their site is down!

Posted by sharepoint-hosting, 10-16-2009, 11:39 AM
Yeah. Nothing to do... have to wait until they come online...

Posted by Escu, 10-16-2009, 11:41 AM
my accounts are down too...

Posted by sharepoint-hosting, 10-16-2009, 11:43 AM
their partner company jaguarpc.com also down

Posted by Xecutech, 10-16-2009, 11:44 AM
Now my clients are complaining. I am so ready to move my account from them. They should at least send out an email explaining the issue!

Posted by Emory, 10-16-2009, 11:44 AM
My sites are down also. Add hostingzoom.com as well.

some sites are working 174.xxx and 75.xxx are working

Posted by tekspert, 10-16-2009, 11:58 AM
it would be really bad if they lost our sites.. or went bankrupt or something.. From what I can remember, in the last 3 years they've never been completely down before.

Posted by Xecutech, 10-16-2009, 12:00 PM
It sounds like a power or nac issue, since it's affecting more than 1 server. Unless, they went out of business.

Posted by haidersafaa, 10-16-2009, 12:01 PM
Hi do anyone call them by phone

Posted by sharepoint-hosting, 10-16-2009, 12:03 PM
Yes. Please

Posted by Xecutech, 10-16-2009, 12:05 PM
I would call them if i could access their site to get the number!

Posted by tekspert, 10-16-2009, 12:05 PM
does anyone have the number?

Posted by Lexy, 10-16-2009, 12:07 PM
I called them. The phone is still working, but no one picked up on the other end. Not sure that tells us much more than we knew already?

Most unfortunate for me: they were helping me reclaim a hijacked site while that happened...

Posted by Xecutech, 10-16-2009, 12:20 PM
Not much information on the backup link, as we already knew there was an issue! I wish I had an ETA to tell my clients.

I am so pissed mad at resellerzoom that words can not describe it. I feel they have me hostage due to the complexity of my setup. I have wasted years of effort it feels, trying to make this work. I would be happy to pay USD 100 or 200 just to find a final and definite answer to this simple question: "Is Resellerzoom, Hostingzoom even worth the effort - or am I just fooling myself." I might be a complete idiot for staying, again and again. I'm on 4 different servers they have, EVERY day services are restarted, booted etc - there is DOWNTIME EVERY single day. Is it supposed to be like that, downtime EVERY single day? It just drives me mad.

Posted by JPC-Tracie, 10-16-2009, 01:09 PM
Everything should be coming up now. I don't have the official word yet on the cause. I'll post when I do. We're also on twitter: twitter.com/hostingzoom sunshinelife -- this was an isolated and rare issue. If you're experiencing those sort of issues with your site please send me a PM with your account hostname and I'll have our support manager look into this for you.

Posted by leoncariz, 10-16-2009, 01:15 PM
Mine just came back up now. For the people who are planning to leave, I've been with resellerzoom / hostingzoom for almost 3 years now. Paying $10 for 30 websites with excellent technical support team should give you a tolerance of 1 hour downtime once in a while.

Posted by MrNabs, 10-16-2009, 01:21 PM
I totally agree with you. I'm on R1 server (Failover package) and my websites are down everyday, every single day, Websites are damn slow, and server load always touching the roof. I complained it many times and they temporarily solve the issue, and its back to usual after few days. I do have their budget package as well, and its running perfect. I thought that their FailOver package which costs 4 times the budget package will be better, but its the complete opposite, It sucks. I'm considering HostGator's reseller package, their shared hosting is very good, but have no idea about their reseller package... I'll make the move very soon, Goodbye Reseller Zoom.

Posted by UNIXy, 10-16-2009, 01:24 PM
You could spend that money on a good redundant/failover setup and you'll never need to worry about outages again. Regards

Posted by Josh Edward, 10-16-2009, 01:31 PM
I have a VPS Mods acount fromt Reseller Zoom, and is still down. VZ17 Server

Posted by sunshinelife, 10-16-2009, 01:34 PM
pawas - thanks for sharing that. RS have suggested to me that I move to their Failover package. The problem is I do not trust them anymore, they have moved me around from server to server several times already. I am on a USD 34.95 reseller pack - this is a ridiculously low amount I think. What can you expect for USD 34.95 - but then again, I do not know what else I should go to. I am betting my future and career on my sites and internet services, I should be and I am willing to pay more. I am willing to pay what it takes to get good reliable service. Grrrrrrrrrrr. I visit dozens of sites every day - the only ones that are down daily are mine... it's just incredible really. As far as I can tell my best bet is to move to Rackspace - just because they seem more high level quality overall "their fanatical support" etc. But I dread moving from Resellerzoom because I am so stuck in their stuff. I have postponed moving several times, I have been convinced RS is really good and that the problems are just temporary. But the problems come back, again and again. I would gladly pay USD 100 or USD 200 or whatever it took - YOU pay whateve ti costs right - if they could just guarantee good service - I have tried to explain this to Resellerzoom, to no avail - now I do not trust them anymore. Problem is, I do not really know if Rackspace is any better. Sorry for the vent - I have hit bottom. Last edited by sunshinelife; 10-16-2009 at 01:38 PM.

Posted by jwayne, 10-16-2009, 01:36 PM
We also have failover with resellerzoom, but this does not help for an outage that affects an entire physical location. And you're probably not going to find a reseller with failover servers in a totally separate location unless you pay lots of $$. You want to jump ship, fine, but just be aware of this possibility. I will criticize rz/hz for not having the appropriate failover for their own web sites. There is no reason why someone should have to figure out that they need to go to backup.jaguarpc.com for info.

We experienced network problems at the GNAX datacenter. Most of the service has been recovered except for the VPS servers. We are working on it. Updates will follow.

Posted by sunshinelife, 10-16-2009, 02:04 PM
My issues with Resellerzoom go way beyond just today's problems - today just had the cup run over. Just one more in an endless line of downtimes. I literally have daily downtime on the resellerservers I have with them - daily, no kidding. Support always gives the same canned answers: "It's looking good on our end now." right - because you just rstarted all the services as I reported the problems - thanks!. I am just so frustrated, have been for along time. I am unable to express the problem, and to evaluate what to do about it. Is there a way to objectively measure webhostingproviders?

Posted by Emory, 10-16-2009, 02:06 PM
It seems like they would want to host their company domain on a different network so users can at least reach support in case something like this happens again.

Posted by sunshinelife, 10-16-2009, 02:11 PM
Tracy _ I am not allowed here on Webhostingtalk to send PM. So I just sent you and email, don't know if you'll get that though - as you too seem to be down.

Posted by Urano, 10-16-2009, 02:18 PM
I am using s Hybrid from MODVPS, and I think is OK for 99 USD. I suggest you to try it. I must say that setup is very slow, mine took 2 weeks, but then every thing was very fine.

Posted by roblack, 10-16-2009, 02:23 PM
I have been with RZ since 2005 and I must say, that up until September year I really did not have any issues with the service. Since October 2008 however, I have had weekly issues. I have both an Advanced Reseller Account and a Failover Account and my frustration mounts daily. I like many others, after being with them for years, am now seriously considering moving on. Thankfully there are a number of proven choices out there.

Posted by sunshinelife, 10-16-2009, 02:28 PM
I wish Hostingzoom had been more clear about what is being offered. I am afraid I am on a plan best suited for a freckled teenagers fun-pages, when I really need something really reliable - but how am I supposed to know? It is all being sold as business class hosting - when for me at least it's has not been. When I confronted support they told me server clinton was getting old, and that I should be moved to a newer server. I feared this due to complications last time I was moved. I then asked, begged - for them to instead UPGRADE the clinton server with new hardware, so I would be spared moving, backup, changing DNS etc for dozens of sites. But no, they said no - and left me with the problem. That's where I am today. I am really not interested in being part of their problems, old servers etc - I just want to pay whatever is needed to be paid to get a reliable rock solid service. It is all about aligning expectations and what is delivered so that one is on the level with ones customers. Last edited by sunshinelife; 10-16-2009 at 02:37 PM.

Posted by target, 10-16-2009, 02:54 PM
No, it's not supposed to be like that. Did u ever measure their uptime ?

Posted by sunshinelife, 10-16-2009, 03:15 PM
target - thanks. No - I never measured their (my...) uptime, I have looked for services that do that but not found any good ones. The problem is slowness, is that downtime or not? Uptime monitoring do not seem to take in slowness.

Posted by Jag, 10-16-2009, 05:14 PM
No hardly and Jaguarpc didn't take over anything, they both are owned by the parent company landis holdings. When I acquired hz the place was full of problems, overworked staff, what little management was there barely knew half of what most its people were doing, servers overloaded galore, backups were a joke , failover systems just didn't even work, servers had little to no raid protection, barely any ram, no forms of redundancy. This barely scrapes the surface. I have literally spent hundreds of thousands of dollars improving all of those right after I bought hz/rz. R1soft backups, ram upgrades, raided systems, integrated software, numerous software and free updates, and all for no cost increase to any existing clients at all, nadda. We have long since completed all the upgrades and updates we promised. The ironic thing here is it truly is better in almost every way and since things work so well we almost never hear from people. But one network outage in years and everyone crawls out of the wood works to comment. I challenge everyone to do your host (whomever they are) a favor and post one good comment a week or get really overzealous and post one a day. In our case you would see a million positive posts to every one negative, literally! We're very sorry to all our clients, we, all of us experienced today. We're very grateful for your business and feedback moving forward. We're also grateful that service was restored as quick as it was without any further problems. I urge you all to report any problem at anytime to support no matter how small. We simply dont have keep problems around, if you tell us about it we will get it fixed and help you to eliminate them moving forward. We are always open to suggestions and strive for improvement, its why we have been in business and doing this for 11 years and still going strong. We love you all, thanks for making us a success!

Posted by jackpx, 10-16-2009, 08:33 PM

Posted by target, 10-17-2009, 02:47 AM
Jag, reason i asked was:

Posted by target, 10-17-2009, 02:49 AM
When did u acquire it ?

Posted by sunshinelife, 10-17-2009, 04:54 AM
I feel bad about venting my frustration - as I am sure the people at HZ are doing their best, and doing good work I am sure. My case might just be one isolated case, so take it for what it is. Still, Jag - there might be more frustration in the "woodworks" than you imagine - you might just not know about it. That's the case with me. I encourage HZ to go over the record of support tickets in a more holistic systematic manner. At least in my case it would be quite easy to see that something is very wrong from just looking at the sum of support tickets and their nature - I do not know if HZ ever look at tickets in sum. I have sent Tracy a list of some resent support tickets of mine and my forum users. Thanks for taking this seriously.

HostingZoom / ResellerZoom is trying to help me - but I need to get some independent feedback here before I go completely off sanity. Both servers I am on Clinton and Garza are extremely unreliable for me, I get downtime, internal server errors, database downs - every day. I am now moving to server Garza, it is on IP 75.127.108.147. If you try to type this IP into your browser directly (do not do this!) you get to a Indian doctors unprofessional homemade-style homepage. BUT - at least I also got directly infected with the SecurityTool - Antivirus Pro 2010 virus - some really nasty stuff I am working to remove right now. It just downloaded itself from that site, and it is quite hard to remove. Maybe someone on a safe browser (Linux?) can confirm this? Maybe this is why the servers are so unstable - they are being used to distribute malware somehow. What does all this tell us? I do not know - but I get a very very bad feeling about all this. Also, one quick thing. When supports tells me I can find my sites at h t t p : / / 75.127.108.147/~sitename What do they mean by ~sitename? ... what is that? What specific URL do they want me to use? Probably a simple question - but I can't figure it out. Say I have a site called site.com ? Please help. Thanks. I do think HostinZoom is trying to help me. But still - there is a level of talking just above each other in the communication. After 3 days intense work we still do not know why several of my major sites are crashing on a daily basis on two servers... I run mostly vBulletin and WordPress - maybe that is why? I have suggested dozens of possible causes to support - but they seem totaly focused on "load" - "load looks fine". It is obviously not load that's the problem - it's something else - but what is it. Any suggestions and comments are very much appreciated, my hair is graying as we speak - fast. Thanks. Last edited by sunshinelife; 10-23-2009 at 03:50 PM.

When typing in the IP I get World Togolese Foundation's website. I myself have never heard of them, but they seem legit. Is that whom you were referring to? When they said sitename they mean cPanel Username. For example if your domain was sunshinelife.com the cPanel username might be sunshine IP/~sunshine That's what you would put. Does that kind of make sense?

Posted by target, 10-23-2009, 04:32 PM
Souns like overloaded and oversold servers to me. They typical trick is to move accounts from server to server. vBulletin and Wordpress can't be the problem.

Posted by sunshinelife, 10-23-2009, 04:49 PM
Yes it was probably the World Togolese Foundation's website. There was an image of an Indian doctor there - that's all I really registered. I dare not go again to check. When I visited that site the SecurityTool and AntivirusPro 2010 started downloading by itself, before I knew it the Malware was installed. Does anyone else experience that on this site? (On a sidenote - I have now removed the Malware it seems. But is there a risk the Malware might have compromised the passwords cashed in my Firefox so that I need to update all my important passwords ASAP?) ##### On moving - support at ResellerZoom has actually offered me today to move me again from Garza to another server with less load... This is precisely what I also recently did when I moved from Clinton on their suggestion (that move caused me a lot of problems). Would it be reasonable for them to offer and me to accept this - or is that just playing a fools game? I feel bad for going out with this - but how am I to be able to judge this by myself? If they are overselling, how am I supposed to know this? I am in desperate need of some sound advice and fast for what to do. I need a serious business class setup for my 100+ worpress websites + 5 small-midrange vBulletin forums. Do I go for a dedicated server with HostingZoom?, a VPN with HostingZoom or a dedicated server with say Rackspace? I do not care so much about cost anymore (this is killing me - what is that worth...) - I just need a good long term solution. Please know that your advice and feedback is really really appreciated. Thank you.

If you think you need a dedicated server, you might actually need one. I've got 3 dedicated servers and 1 VPS at JaguarPC, the parent company of RZ/HZ/WowVPS. I've been supremely impressed by their help with stuff, they really do go above and beyond for their clients. They can almost always find a server that fits your budget, just contact sales. They have given me killer deals on dedicated servers. <3 JaguarPC. Check my old threads for my review on jag

So you think I should go straight to JaguarPC, instead of ResellerZoom? Crazy thing is that for the last few days the server Garza has been down 3-4 times - PER DAY. Resellerzoom knows about this, but they wave it off saying that Garza is an "old box". I have asked them to please kick out some of the services that are stressing the server - no avail. Again, is this how it is supposed to be? That I have to take being down 4-5 times per day - being told I am on an "old box".... sorry pal - your problem. Fight support in their attempt to have me pushed around to new servers - when I am not stressing the server myself? I tried talking to Rackspace - but it turns out they don't support cpanel, they have their own system... I want to keep cpanel. Traffic to my community sites is way down due to the constantly unreliable server. Years of work might well be wasted, just so RZ could squeeze a little more juice out of an old server. I wonder how much RZ made/saved from doing it this way - compared to my years of work. I have to start over, but with what?

They are from the same owner. They are like clone companys.. they have same providers, same datacenter, same servers, almost same plans. I am not making a critic to that strategy.. we all know that 1 year ago Jag acquired hostingzoom. What i am trying to say is that if you want something similar to Hostingzoom or resellerzoom, dont go to jaguarpc as they are almost clone companys.
