DedicatedNow down for almost 2 hours now - DDOS Attack

Hi - we have a farm of servers with them and it looks like that their servers are down. Asking them informed that there were under DDOS attack. Some of the servers are responding. Isn't it typical for DC operations to cover such attack in few mins with the latest hardware?

Do they offer DDOS mitigation services? I don't think it is reasonable to assume everyone has the latest and greatest technology or a service offering that includes DDOS mitigation. Even the best can take a bit of time to get it under control if it is big enough. How big is the attack do you know? Are you the target of it? If it is big enough it can bring anyone down and yes it can take time to recover. Your best bet if it is mission critical is to have failover services in another location that can be brought online.

We have invested thousands of dollars in DDOS protection. But nothing stops everything. Our network admins are hard at work on this. Will keep you posted as we know more! Thanks everyone.

As a reminder to everyone: "This forum is provided to discuss current outage issues and to allow a way for customers and providers to communicate. Comments by non-customers will be removed." Please do not use threads like this as a forum for discussing other company's services, and particularly for bashing competitors and flashing signatures. It's inappropriate and unnecessary in this thread. starpeople, hopefully your servers are indeed accessible again. If not, please inform us through the help desk, and we'll reopen this thread. << thread cleaned and closed >>
