I would just like to know if there are other people noticing odd things happening while using Yahoo mail? For the last few weeks Yahoo mail has acted funny while using it. Sometimes the pages will not go back to the previous page without having to click on the inbox link. My wife has said that she has noticed strange behavior when she was using it. This morning I open my mail to find all of my folders between A and F are not there. Vanished. I chatted with support and they restored to the latest point they could. Folders are still missing. I did not delete them!!! Yahoo mail has been my mail client for almost 15 years and this is the first time I have ever had an issue. Now I have lost information I cannot possibly replace. What a bummer.

Periodically Yahoo mail has hiccups. I've never suffered anything like what you describe, but sometimes you just have to log out, wait a while, and log back in for things to start working again.

I've been using my free Yahoo for more than 10-years as well and just recently realize that I have so many important emails and serious amount of information. So just 3-days ago, I paid for Yahoo Mail Plus and downloaded everything in my Outlook and delete all my Yahoo copy.

I'd say your important mails are safer on a server than on your local computer.

Funny thing that Techy should mention Gmail. The very next morning my Gmail account was compromised. I could not access it or change my password untill later in the day. When I finally regained access to my Gmail account, I found 3 transactions against my atm/debit card. The first one was for $1000, the second was $700 and the third was $500. I still gat email notices in a foreign language and have no idea what it is saying. I think the low life had intentions to come back and delete out the transaction records. I printed out everything including the idiots address and name. I gave it all to my bank and they have taken care of all of the proceedings. I hope my bank and Visa burn him. I wrote a complaint to Google and they verified the breach of security and all of the transactions. I bet he is not using Google checkout anymore!! LOL I read that Google is really fighting a battle with China hackers. Looks like any kind of anti-fraud business would be thriving this day and age. I still am clueless as to how he obtained my information. None of it exist in any of my email accounts. From now on, I am taking my email more seriously. I hope they all burn him good.

Your surprised that people are able to compromise you via the google? Google knows everything about you, for some reason they have your bank information. One single point of pwn. Good luck with the bank, not all banks are friendly when it comes to this type of thing. And just from a merchant standpoint, most credit card batches run after 5PM PST so if you catch the pre-auth's prior to 5PST you have a good chance of having things fixed alot easier.

That's a fair question. A secure, well-maintained, regularly backed-up server has to beat your own hard drive, which will fail sooner or later.

Backing up of files is just a matter of where and how. My desktop and portable are sync to my 2-portable HDD. I'm also considering iDrive but I still have problem convincing myself in terms of security and privacy.
