FuturedHosting.com OVH server is down

Posted by Yousf, 11-14-2010, 05:24 AM
The OVH server of futuredhosting.com is down for 2 days now. opened ticket with high priority, get a response after 8 hours with the normal response for anything like this "hardware failure!"

8 hours is better than me. Sometime that person gets back to me around 24 hours. They provide cheap price, but low support.

I don't talk about support. The WHOLE OVH server is down. Which means 50% of their customers are offline for 4 days now..

I'm one of reseller of futured hosting, i have had 25 website into their server. all of my client getting mad on me, naturally. I opened ticket before 48 hour, no response, and their excuse must not acceptable, as they told "hard disk is gone". if hard disk gone, where is back up hard disk ? its my question. For my 25 website, i assume there is my 3000$ lose. I plane to issue a case and notice to court and cyber police under Indian consumer law. Each and every month they made any one trouble. Please don't go with them. You will be killed like me too. Even don't go with any indian people or company for any kind of deal. almost indian are make you loser. they are scammed at all. Thanks

Sorry to hear about it but that's a good reason to keep your own backups especially with cheap hosting. It has been mentioned many times in similar threads. Backup, Backup, Backup.

Thank god! I do periodic backups! and by they way, I don't think you will get anything from any court. Just pray that they recover your data.

Posted by direct90, 11-17-2010, 04:43 PM
nyone know what happens? Believe that the data will be redeemed?

Posted by Yousf, 11-17-2010, 05:01 PM
I think they have major data loss problem. 90% they will not be able to fix it. If they were able to fix it, it would be fixed already! It is just a single server, even if large, but still single server. I think that after sometime, they will say to people "sorry, you data is lost. and it is not covered in the TOS."

I got an message from them: Hello, We are extremely sorry for the downtime that is just an worst nightmare. We are so helpless in this case. Our server is actually down because of Kernel Panic. The operating system uses Kernel to start up the system. Because of the problem with Kernel, the operating system is not able to start up. As a result, we are not getting the server UP nor we are getting data from it. That's why it's taking so long for us to be back on service. The problem will be fixed if we reinstall the server. But we can't do that. Because if we do that, all of the data will be erased. Our datacenter technicians are working hard to fix the problem. The problem is so critical that they are not able to fix in these days. We are now trying to get all the data from the server and then reinstall the server to avoid future problems. Please allow us some time for that. We are again extremely sorry for the inconvenience. We can't do anything other than to apologize. Kind Regards, Futured Web Services Team (Futured Hosting & Futured Names are divisions of Futured Web Services) This is my second bad experiences with them.

dear ridemeup, i got a same problem on my website, i have backup . but how i upload this, cannot acess cpanel too, which hos is dat u hosting?

Posted by Yousf, 11-22-2010, 05:04 AM
Well, of course they can! Give time estimate for recovery, give new temporary empty server or refund you clients!

Posted by Fordam, 11-22-2010, 11:04 AM
And it is absolutely irresponsible to host 3000$ value on 100$ per year ( or les ) reseller

Posted by Fusa, 11-22-2010, 08:14 PM
So if you can lose 3000$ in 3 days, you must be paying like 1000$ / month for your hosting and have a big insurance for this!? I understand the problem, but when you go to a budget (hosting) provider, always keep in mind that this can happen. So backup, backup, backup ! Send to your hosting company (futured hosting) that they need to boot the server in rescue modus or ask to attach a KVM to solve the problem. It's no so hard, they just did something wrong and have no experience with this.

Sounds like BS. If it's an kernel update issues, they can simply boot into rescue mode and re-install a known good kernel version from a RPM stored on a disk or usb device

Second to this, get an insurance !! And second to BS. Hard to believe if it is just kernel problem.

hi, there is anyone who has news about this problem ? we are waiting for FuturedHosting since 15days i contact them by email/tickets but no responses.

Posted by Yousf, 11-25-2010, 12:53 PM
90% they will not be able to recover from this problem. Which means they will not respond. We should ask for a refund (I already did).
