Myriad Network/EMC telecom

Anyone know what's going on now? Yesterday at 15/11/10 @ ~5.30pm AEST (~17 hours ago) our VPS server was suddenly no longer accessible and, of course, as usual, the dubdubdub.emcwebhosting.com site is not there, nor dubdubdub.myriadnetwork.com site. We have heard nothing from them so, once again, this outage is like a bolt from the blue.

http://hostjury.com/blog/view/286/em...siness-updated They went out of business, they had the announcement on their site from Thursday->Friday of last week and disappeared.

MotherF*ckers, we had no email notification nothing. What did they expect, that we're supposed to monitor their website daily for potential shutting down notifications? Can anyone from the US, recommend a realiable US based VPS provider that is not likely to do this sort of thing.

This is absolutely ridiculous! Not even a SIMPLE EMAIL NOTICE so we could do something. Is there no way to get our data???

Afraid not. Re: email update -- perhaps they didn't want to send one, or no longer had access to their client database. I suspect it'll be a long while before we know the full details.

They had quit paying their bills to their datacenter some time ago and were trying to sell the hardware to someone. There were a series of lawsuits against them for a host of issues. Basically the place was a disaster, surprising it was around as long as it was.

See the other thread on here also (I can't post the link). The individuals behind this are also listed in that thread, in case anyone wishes to try to contact them regarding data, or pursue financial damages in some way.

They never even paid the previous owner of Myriad for the company when they "bought it" and he's one of the people that sued him. Being blunt, you won't get blood from a turnip, any legal action is pretty much pointless.

Shouldn't the police be showing an interest in these sorts of people?

That's terrible. Providers like that make the rest of the industry look bad.

Hmmm... Why is it that my customers are still receiving automated notices from my site after they shut it all down? And is there anyway to stop it?

EMC Telcom shut down operations in November of 2010 providing customers with only days notice, leaving many without backups. Affected customers include those from Myriad Networks who were acquired by EMC/Erik Zeiner in late 2008, as well as EMC's aliases (i.e. EMC Web Hosting and EMC VPS). UV Hosting has received a court order to obtain the some of the servers believed to be used by EMC Telcom's Web Hosting business. We should be receiving the servers around the end of December, 2010. We do not know what data is on those servers yet, but if you are among those people cut off from your data when EMC Telcom was turns off, there may be hope for you. Please pass this on to anyone you think may have been unfortunate enough to be caught in the EMC Telecom debacle. UV Hosting is now taking requests from those who want to see if their data can be recovered. For more details or to make a retrieval request, visit: www . uvhosting . com / emc / (without the spaces. This board won't let me post URLs) Please do not call us. Submitting the form is the best way for to get in the queue. We will send e-mail updates to you as we see what we have. Please be patient. There are at least 60 servers and none of them are labeled. We have a lot of work to do. Note: UV HOSTING IS NOT EMC. UV Hosting was seriously harmed by the actions of EMC and its GM Erik Zeiner. EMC is believed to be non-operational. Zeiner is party to a lawsuit alleging fraud in conjunction with the Myriad acquisition and he is believed to be involved with www . mashedreport . com/ and biz-con . org/ (Put in the urls without the spaces.)

Have you consulted with your attorneys in regards to your liability for distributing data that you cannot verify the proper owner of?

Posted by uvhosting, 12-16-2010, 08:57 PM
Yes, we have. We have procedures that we will use to ensure proper former account ownership prior to any potential data recoveries and subsequent release.
