Perhaps useful information for other customers... 1 of my sites hosted on VPS Universe (vpsuniverse.net) has been down since around 10pm UK time on January 22nd. The VPS Universe website was also down. Finally got a response from them via email today: Martin.

Sounds like their HD didn't crash, they simply couldn't pay their bills. Francisco

Yep sounds like an excuse to skip out.

Sorry to hear that Martin, It made me laugh at Michael comments I would rephase what he said Hi Loyal customers sadly we have had a HDD Crash on one of our servers, unfortunately we did not think this would happen and so did not think we would require any backups etc.. Also our accountancy department has just informed me we cant afford to run the hosting business any more. It has come with great sadness that we have to close and to sod off with your money and no refunds will be issued or to help you migrate. good bye. Michale

scam artists! Love when they say sadly it did, and close shop. Means they could not afford the server and will be back in 2 weeks under a different name and selling vps again and do the same thing over again. Either that or it is a kiddie host, or his wife said stop playing around.

This is why you always keep off-site backups with someone else... How much money did you lose?

That is the weakest excuse i have seen. Not even an apology? Absolutely disgusting. Good luck with your next provider OP!

This is terrible, Not a surprise though. This happens on a day to day basis.

I only had a cheap shared account with them, and have offsite backups... no real issue for me in terms of financial or data loss. Luckily I saw the funny side to his email and already have a new provider set up. I hope nobody else was effected badly. It's reminded me only to work with time proven companies though.. I should have done more research before selecting them. Martin.

vpsuniverse.net has gone. Is they are offering cheap cheap vps?
