Sentris outage?

Posted by Ron D, 07-21-2009, 01:53 PM
Not able to get to a few servers I have with Sentris (Seattle). Can anyone else confirm that they're down? Don't see anything in email regarding outages or attacks.

Posted by VL-Adam, 07-21-2009, 05:53 PM
Mine appears up and online. Try asking them to reboot your server.

Posted by SamCD, 07-21-2009, 08:27 PM
I never got any downtime reports about our Sentris servers (on different backbones and ip ranges); so I assume it's isolated to yourself.

Posted by VL-Adam, 07-26-2009, 07:21 PM
Does anyone know if Sentris is doing network maintenance now (7/26/09 : 4:23 PM PDT)

Posted by kh08, 07-26-2009, 07:33 PM
i have a few servers there down as well.

Posted by VL-Adam, 07-26-2009, 07:35 PM
I'm sure that they are working on it and it should be back up shortly, but they should at least update us on what's going on. I'm sure everything will be alright though.

Posted by doughnet, 07-26-2009, 07:40 PM
Just noticed that my machine is down also. Havent received e-mail from sentris in regards to reasoning yet.

Posted by VL-Adam, 07-26-2009, 07:41 PM
Neither have I received an email - hopefully they will update us very soon.

Posted by SamCD, 07-26-2009, 07:42 PM
All of ours went down 20 minutes ago too :/, not on the level3 line.

Posted by VL-Adam, 07-26-2009, 07:43 PM
What line are you guys on? Is it only affecting level3, maybe?

I have servers on both; all of our servers with them are down.

Posted by VL-Adam, 07-26-2009, 07:54 PM
-_- hopefully they will be back up soon, post here if anyone got updates please.

Posted by VL-Adam, 07-26-2009, 07:59 PM
All up now! Thanks Sentris for solving the issue so fast!

Posted by SamCD, 07-26-2009, 08:00 PM
Ours haven't been back up yet, our monitoring reported they all went down 44 minutes ago.

Posted by doughnet, 07-26-2009, 08:01 PM
Hmmm...my server isn't back up yet. Anyone else's up and running again?

Posted by Ron D, 07-26-2009, 08:01 PM
I was seeing upwards of 50% packet loss for about 4 hours, an hour ago my ping dropped off and started getting TTL Exceeded. Guessing its another DDoS...Sadly, this was the last straw for me. As much as I love the server I have, having it offline without any explanation once a month and getting random restarts every week is too much.

Edit: Still down. 76.191.102.1XX range/Level3.

Posted by VL-Adam, 07-26-2009, 08:02 PM
Maybe you guys aren't on level3, my level3 line servers are up.

Posted by doughnet, 07-26-2009, 08:05 PM
Im not on level3

Posted by kh08, 07-26-2009, 08:09 PM
76.191.112.X down still.

Posted by VL-Adam, 07-26-2009, 08:11 PM
63.223.xxx.xx is up here, I know they are working on the custom line now, should be back up shortly for you guys.

Posted by SamCD, 07-26-2009, 08:11 PM
All of custom is down. I've gotten no response from support yet, it has been down for nearly an hour now.

No answer on the phone either.

Posted by kh08, 07-26-2009, 08:19 PM
back online

Posted by SamCD, 07-26-2009, 08:19 PM
Back up for me now.

Posted by SamCD, 07-26-2009, 08:51 PM
Down again since a few minutes ago.

Posted by VL-Adam, 07-26-2009, 08:56 PM
It's down again. Hopefully, they will resolve the issue again, fast.

Posted by SamCD, 07-26-2009, 09:03 PM
Services back up.

Posted by VL-Adam, 07-26-2009, 09:06 PM
level3 line appears to be down, custom line is up.

Edit:
Everything appears alright and up now.

Posted by VL-Adam, 07-26-2009, 10:16 PM
It's back down.

I hope they will give some sort of compensation - I always do to my clients!

Seems I am down too. Not cool.

I recently got a server from sentris and I realize the outage people were talking about on the 26th - I've been through that and it was something in the network that was screwing up

but after that, everything has been up smoothly. so the last two posters should try to contact them if your servers are still down. (I've only been using sentris for a short time and so far they've been good to us)

Posted by kh08, 07-29-2009, 10:44 PM
down. again.

I'm down too. Anyone know what to say to get refunded for downtime? Pointless in paying if I can't be productive since they are down so much now.

This is really not correct. If you have been monitoring the network, you would realise, that at this time (for the past week) there has been a whole bunch of network issues, such as packet losses, higher reponse times.

Lets hope it really gets resolved this time.

I have monitors watching the server - only had two issues so far (once on the 26th and once now)

I will keep on monitoring for the next few days and see what's going on with them. and I've only been with them for about a week now so you my comments are still on the soft side.

Posted by VL-Adam, 07-29-2009, 10:57 PM
Down again, since 7:36pm PDT time.

About a 30 minute downtime already.

We should be compensated for this.

I have also been a customer for a week or so, however must admit, that the experience has not been enjoyable at all. I encountered these issues, starting around the 24th.

I advise you to do that as well - you will quickly realise, that at this hour there are usually very high response times, inc. packet losses, but I really don't mind it, as long as they fix the issue.

- Just to give you an update, they are currently working on it, so this is the reason their entire network is unavailable.

Posted by doughnet, 07-29-2009, 11:12 PM
Still down without any notification from sentris. Be nice if they advise everyone WHILE the network is down rather than AFTER since who cares, since its up. Bad customer service on their part, I would consider it.

They said that they are working on it. It's almost an hour of downtime!

Posted by jackonline, 07-29-2009, 11:14 PM
8:12pm PDT it is still down & no update from Sentris what is going on.

Posted by VL-Adam, 07-29-2009, 11:23 PM
They guarantee 100% uptime according to their SLA.

yeah that's what I was thinking. I could let one outage go once in a while but two big outages in just a 4 day period is kind of terrible.

I will have to consult them about it because it does cost us all business - can't function like this.

edit: it just came back up - downtime was 57 minutes according to one of my monitors (checks the server every 60 seconds)

Posted by jackonline, 07-29-2009, 11:33 PM
well.. 100% uptime it is just theory & nobody can guarantee that. Lately they have way too many problems with network and data center, if this will continue it is time to move out.

mm - I don't care about it being a 100% forever, I understand outages here and there, but like I said, two big outages in 4 days for me is terrible. I only went to sentris because my past provider was making me mad with their outages.

Can't seem to escape them...

Posted by VL-Adam, 07-29-2009, 11:47 PM
All of my servers are up, except for one of them. I don't know if they finished fixing the whole network yet.

Posted by VL-Adam, 07-30-2009, 01:33 AM
Nevermind, one of my hard drives on that server needed a checkup, everything is back up and working now, thanks sentris, I appreciate everything!

Here is what was said, in relation to the previous downtimes throughout the week:

Quote:
We sincerely apologize, all these issues are started since end of June, after we got that major ddos attacked and we decided to make major upgrades to our network, both hardware and infrastructure, so it's better equipped to handle large attacks.

But so far, the new hardware been causing one problems after another, first on the 25th, it was the switch that we had to take out/replaced, then on the 27th, the bgp session kept going up and down, caused by bad cable, and now, same thing happened and they said it was caused by neighborhood poisoning.

We're now working on moving all traffic through a different hardware completely, and hope to avoid all these problems.

Please rest assure that we're doing everything we can to avoid this from ever happening again.
Hopefully it will be solved for now.
