VPSRight Down? [merged]

Posted by phpright, 08-09-2009, 06:06 PM
My VPS went down, I tried contacting them, but their site seems to be down. Anyone else having problems with this VPS host? Haven't even been with them a week and now this is happening. I can still log into their FluidVM panel, it's showing my VPS as up, but all services down. So I try to reboot the VPS, and nothing has happened. Geez, seems like I just get bad host, after bad host, after bad host.

[Edit] Just stumbled across this post: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=880980 Apparently this company doesn't even have the funding to pay their employees MINIMUM WAGE. Wow, okay, thanks for screwing me over, yet ANOTHER VPS host.

Posted by VPSRight, 08-09-2009, 07:20 PM
We haven't screwed you over.

Our site is currently down due to some DNS issues which we are looking into now.

As for your VPS, I will look into it now.

We also have a full team of techs working 24/7/365.

Posted by VPSRight, 08-09-2009, 07:23 PM
I have checked your VPS and all services and cPanel/WHM are loading fine.

Can you PM me the exact issues you are facing with your VPS?

Ouch im sorry to hear you having problem's contacting them and most of all having your vps online. Have you tried contacting them by phone? The owner of VpsRight seem's to have replied to this post hopefully you can reply soon and explain your issue's to him. I do disagree with one thing, If VpsRight was aware of these Dns problem's why didnt they notify their client's so they are aware of another alternative how to contact them?

If there site is down, it would probably mean their client area + mail server was down.. so I'd find it hard for them to notify clients, maybe a change in DNS to a failover, but DNS changes takes time too.

Posted by VPSRight, 08-09-2009, 08:12 PM
It is actually an issue with the VLAN attached to Node2. Some VPS servers are experiencing issues whilst others aren't. Hopefully, all will be fixed shortly.

None of our services are down. Our VPS for the company website was experiencing some issues with cPanel/WHM, so we contacted cPanel. I came in this morning to find our site down. I rebooted the VPS and up came both our site and WHM.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused anyone.

I just called them using the customer support number from paypal, definitely got an answer from one guy who was asleep, he didnt sound to happy that I woke him up but he said okay and hung up.

Posted by Alex597, 08-22-2009, 09:09 PM
lol thats funny, its been down for like 20 mins, well lets see if something happens. hope it comes back soon

Posted by TheGamersForce, 08-22-2009, 09:21 PM
Well I was assuming this is a 1-2 man operation and since its based in the UK they'd be asleep, so if someone didnt wake them up then no one would get anything fixed till morning.

That comment has me worried I just switched in the last few days to them based off their positive reviews on here, however that makes me rethink that decision

Posted by Alex597, 08-22-2009, 09:37 PM
well i been using a VPS with my friend and it was working very fine, then JUST during this month it went down twice. besides that it was working fine, they just had to move the VPS to another server cause there was a problem and they moved without any data loss.

Posted by TheGamersForce, 08-22-2009, 09:41 PM
Dear Valued Clients,

Those of you hosted on Node2 will have experienced a short period of downtime. This is due to a kernel panic which is now resolved and all VPS servers are now booting back up.

I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you.

Kind Regards,

Posted by Alex597, 08-22-2009, 09:44 PM
yea thats not a good thing,
got from Wikipedia: A kernel panic is an action taken by an operating system upon detecting an internal fatal error from which it cannot safely recover.
hope they have it working good

EDIT: wow this is nice, a site that was on there Testimonials and its up but the vps
edit: he says all vps are being booted backup

Posted by TheGamersForce, 08-22-2009, 09:49 PM
When my VPS up ill let you know and if everything is okay.

Posted by Alex597, 08-22-2009, 11:35 PM
i think there down again this is getting annoying, the VPS haven't even turned on at all, and there main site is back down AGAIN and i can't even get into fluidVM it says: *ObjectLocked:Object [VirtualServer] locked by another user. Please wait to gain access.
they already broke there 9.99 uptime limit and another page says 9.95 which is 3.4 hours (thanks to thegamersforce for telling me this)

Posted by TheGamersForce, 08-22-2009, 11:42 PM
Well their whole site is down again...

Posted by VPSRight, 08-23-2009, 12:16 AM
We are working on the issue are quickly as we can. There is a problem with our main IP block which the DC are investigating now.

I also don't appreciate my number being given out on a public forum. That is my personal telephone number.

Posted by TheGamersForce, 08-23-2009, 12:22 AM
Business Contact Information

Customer Service URL: www vpsright com
Customer Service Email: billing @ vpsright com
Customer Service Phone: << snipped >>

I gave out your customer service phone, if that's your personal number you should probably change it.

Posted by VPSRight, 08-23-2009, 12:26 AM
So you go and post it again?

Posted by Alex597, 08-23-2009, 12:28 AM
well technicly it does say customer SUPPORT phone, if that is your personal phone, then why did you use it for a customer support

Posted by VPSRight, 08-23-2009, 12:34 AM
When you sign up for a business PayPal account, you HAVE to enter a number, we don't offer phone support and we don't have a telephone number for that either, so I entered my telephone number temporarily.

Posted by Alex597, 08-23-2009, 12:45 AM
ok, so do you have a ETA untill the server's are back up?

Posted by aboen, 08-23-2009, 01:48 AM
Still down?

Posted by Alex597, 08-23-2009, 01:49 AM

Posted by Alex597, 08-23-2009, 01:56 AM

Posted by TheGamersForce, 08-23-2009, 01:58 AM
Yup, 8:17 PM and the time is now 2 minutes til 2 am

Posted by Alex597, 08-23-2009, 02:01 AM

Posted by TheGamersForce, 08-23-2009, 02:03 AM
Well if all companies had no downtime then there'd be alot of good companies

Rebprt from OpenDNS:

Hmm, www.vpsright.com isn't loading right now.

The computers that run www.vpsright.com are having some trouble. Usually this is just a temporary problem, so you might want to try again in a few minutes.

Posted by Alex597, 08-23-2009, 03:45 AM
well yea we already know that, i think he said something about a main IP or something.

I am preparing to launch a several thousand dollar advertising campaign in support of my site on Monday and was actually in the middle of submitting an ad to the Yahoo network when my site went down.
I've been unable to continue my work for six or more hours because of it. This marks the third time that I know my site has been down in the last 10 days!
Luckily I did a complete site and db backup just two days ago. If things aren't straightened out by the AM when I get up I'm off to a new host - probably a dedi this time...

I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused to everyone.

We are still working on the issue but we cannot find the cause. We have reasons to believe that it is the VPS control panels we are using so we are waiting to here on switching back to Parallels.

Once the issues are resolved, all clients will receive their next billing cycle free. If you are a monthly client, you will receive 1 month free. If you are a semi-annual client, you will get 6 months free and so on.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and we are working as quickly as possible to resolve the issue.

Posted by mailtojitendra, 08-23-2009, 10:08 AM
I had bought vps for the client and he is shouting over me. 5th downtime in a month.

The emails go down, the sites goes down, the business go down.

Please refund the money to people who want it.

99.9% uptime guarantee is already violated.

Posted by VPSRight, 08-23-2009, 10:15 AM
The issue is fixed!

All VPS servers are booting. All clients will have received an email explaining further.

Posted by mailtojitendra, 08-23-2009, 10:17 AM
What if they go down again sir?

Posted by Alex597, 08-23-2009, 10:42 AM
how long will it take for the VPS's to go back online

Posted by VPSRight, 08-23-2009, 10:48 AM
They are all online. We are checking all of them to see if domains/accounts are loading and if they are not we are doing the needful for them to become available again.

Posted by Alex597, 08-23-2009, 11:06 AM
yea it seems the domain doen't connect to the vps. i hope this gets fix

Posted by VPSRight, 08-23-2009, 11:11 AM

Please open a support ticket.

ALL VPS servers are fully functional, online and pingable'.

If your sites or VPS is not accessible, please open a support ticket.

Posted by fortune81, 08-23-2009, 12:44 PM
Well, it's the AM and I'm up again and still no site. I read above that all sites are supposed to be operational now, but I get a flat 'server cannot be found' when attempting to access mine.

I simply do not have the time to keep submitting support tickets everytime I need to login to my cpanel/whm, which has been the routine lately.

So I'm off to searching through the forums here looking for a good, reliable dedi host.

It's Sunday morn here in the US, but with any luck I can find one today and get moved ASAP.

I am soooo tired of this!

Please tell me your servers IP or Hostname via PM or ticket.

The quicker you do that, te quicker your sites will be functional.

Posted by mailtojitendra, 08-23-2009, 12:53 PM
If it goes again down so long will you refund the money john?

Posted by VPSRight, 08-23-2009, 01:30 PM
It won't go down again.

The configuration issue has been fixed, which originally was made to fix it the last time, but this time it broke it. We are transferring to a new control panel at this time which requires the current configuration so everything should stay hunky dory like it should.

Posted by fortune81, 08-25-2009, 10:00 PM
So I got an email this morning telling me about maintenance that must be performed tonight starting at 6PM EST. It says the maintenance will last about an hour.

I did appreciated the forewarning, although this will now be the fourth time I am aware of that my site has been down in the last 10 days..

So tonight my site did go offline, around 7PM EST, and has been offline since. It is now 10PM EST. That's three hours (so far), not one.

An email was sent stating that during the maintenance we will be unable to login to the client support area and that live chat will be unavailable. Instead, we are to use the support at host-hub.com.

So, needing to inquire as to how much longer this is going to take, I go to host-hub.com, attempt to login so I can send my support request, only to find out that it will not accept my login details. So I went through the steps of registering for a new account and sent an email inquiring how much longer this will be.

I will post back when I hear something.

This is extremely frustrating to me as this wee I am launching a large advertising campaign and also have some assessors looking at my site.

This has been the most frustration I have faced in regards to hosting ever, and I have been online since '96.

Posted by VPSRight, 08-25-2009, 10:06 PM
fortune81;

After receiving the notification from WHT and your ticket, I immediately set onto your VPS and found that named had failed.

The server and VPS servers were up until 8pm EST and then were back up by 8:30pm EST. You should have contacted us after the latest email stating that all VPS servers will be starting.

We are just waiting for confirmation from the DC before we can continue and finish the maintenance.

I apologize for any inconvenience caused at this time.

Posted by fortune81, 08-25-2009, 10:19 PM
I do appreciate your efforts, however, please do not even start with the "I should have" stuff.

I should have done nothing. This is not my problem.

I was working on my site when it went offline, as I knew from your email that it would.

So, I left my office, did some other things, and came back three hours later just to find that it was still offline.

End of story.

So please don't try to bend the blame finger my way. I'm simply a customer who's account has been offline a considerable amount of time this last week.

Posted by VPSRight, 08-25-2009, 10:27 PM
fortune81;

As far as we were concerned, your VPS was up and functional. We can't sift through 60+ VPS to make sure all websites are up and running.

I am not pointing the finger at anyone, I am simply stating that we did send out an email expressing that the VPS servers would be loading up shortly. If your site hadn't loaded, then you should have contacted us and we would have fixed the issue without having to re-open this thread to fix an issue.

We understand there has been a lot of downtime, and because of that we need to have this maintenance. We don't want to have this maintenance and it is for a very silly reason that we are having this maintenance but it has to be done as there is no other way of fixing the issue at hand.

I apologize for the inconvenience caused and I would like to request that you keep further communication off of WebHostingTalk as we have given you other means as to contact us.

Thank you.

Posted by mailtojitendra, 08-26-2009, 12:06 AM
This is the limit. I woke up and found vps down again. Last night i got mail from you that it will be done but its down from past 2hrs or so. Whats is going on when you said 1hr it means 1hr i guess.

Why dont you double our money and pay it back to keep your word.
Its not just the hosting money we are loosing.

My client woke me up and started shouting.

I think this is third time you are moving your server right in a month.

I am very very hurt by your service which is very bad.

For god sake give me exact time when my server will be up and running so i can make excuse to client and say something. I cant tell him that i m giving him crap service.

Posted by Softsys Hosting, 08-26-2009, 12:07 AM
Not sure, but isn't it your responsibility to ensure that all the services that you bring down are brought up as well? If your maintenance is causing your customers website to be down, you should be ensuring that your customers websites are up as well.

Posted by TheGamersForce, 08-26-2009, 12:10 AM
Just want to let everyone know, We jumped off vps right the other night after the first large downtime.

I had spoken to john via a support chat and he actually admitted

"Our server payments are overdue we have the money in the bank to pay"
"Just to lazy I guess"

That was the line that made me pack up and move as soon as I could. I will say however he did fully refund my money.

Posted by mailtojitendra, 08-26-2009, 12:21 AM
Vps is up but i m going to move soon if one more downtime occurs.

Posted by VPSRight, 08-26-2009, 12:35 AM
All downtime is finished. Expect excellent uptime from TODAY onwards.

Mods, please close this thread.

Posted by fortune81, 08-26-2009, 01:35 AM
"Not sure, but isn't it your responsibility to ensure that all the services that you bring down are brought up as well?"

Good point, and that was my thinking as well. Especially considering that part of what we are paying for is
"24/7 Proactive Server Monitoring", along with the "99.9% Uptime Guarantee".

I would think this might be something covered under the "proactive" server monitoring classification. And, it would seem, that if the server were in fact being proactively monitored, this little oversight would have been fixed and not left hanging for me to find hours later.

In any event, when I checked at 11:00PM CST my site was still offline. I checked again at Midnight and it is back on.

Back on, yes. For how long though, that is the question.
