is vps.net down?

Posted by Gigaron, 11-20-2009, 10:08 PM
My site just died.

I ran a ping on vps.net and it can't resolve host.

I also used all-nettools: Unable to resolve hostname http://vps.net to IP address

seemed to have come back to life.

Very strange - if you put a ticket in, we'll try to find the cause, didn't notice it here.

Yes, THEIR site is up, but none of their clients' VPSs are.

Nor their dedicated servers (well ours anyway).

Its ****ing shocking really isn't it... They dont have any kind of method to keep clients updated on whats going on, I havent had any notification or http://status.uk2.net/ doesn't say anything.

The Ditlev guy who runs this is posting on his personal twitter, I imagine maybe he is the only tech on a Saturday?

Either way, he should be ashamed of his company. They are weak during a outage and he needs to get his act into gear and look at where he is going with the business.

Ditlev said they're going to compensate customers.

UK2 is bigger than you will ever, ever, ever, ever be. You won't ever come close to them.. they have more staff working at any time of the day than you do during peak hours.. I'm sure.

I'm also sure they have an army of admins working on it.

A bit of searching in this forum will give you 3 or 4 more twitters to watch.

Seems like there were some hiccups during the maintenance...
