HostQuack = high server loads, downtime

Posted by liquidfractal, 12-25-2009, 09:34 AM
Hello,
Since the IGXHost-HostQuack switchover I've had many more instances of "503 Service Unavailable" from both my website AND hostquack.com when I've tried to connect to read the server load (this is happening as I type). When I can connect, the server load (LiteSpeed server) is typically 8+. I'm assuming this is high...? I've had some of my Members point it out (and they're not ones to complain)...anyone else having probs?

A load of 8+ seem quite high especially if the server throws out the 503 error.

Is this issue still happening?

How many CPUs does it show besides the server load?

Hi,

Have you contacted them about this? The reason I ask is that during a transfer(if they have to move servers over and such), the loads to skyrocket and 503's are not uncommon.

A good sysadmin has a process which minimizes, if not eliminates, this possibility. If that's not the case, then they need to do some investigating, because someone is doing something they should not be doing.

Although, it says tons about a company who does not have such things under wraps in minutes, I'm sure they will get it resolved.

Does this occur often?
has it gone on for a while?
