Posted by efree2net, 12-30-2009, 02:50 AM
We can not access our servers at ThePlanet datacenter.
We also trying to access ThePlanet (http://www.theplanet.com/) website and failed.

Anyone is facing same problem?

Posted by mpkapadia, 12-30-2009, 02:50 AM
I am not able to access theplanet.com
Nor 2 of our servers on the IP range

70.85.x.x

We're up here. What DC are you at?

Posted by igorkl, 12-30-2009, 02:52 AM

Posted by efree2net, 12-30-2009, 02:54 AM

6 servers down and 10 up

Posted by Jacob Wall, 12-30-2009, 02:56 AM
I'm on their 75.125.0.0/16 and I am up, wherever that is(not sure tbh, I think it's houston?). Are you guys in one of their other datacenters or is it just a partial outage?

Posted by Jacob Wall, 12-30-2009, 02:57 AM
I am up on 75.125.0.0/16

Posted by Nick H, 12-30-2009, 02:58 AM
Sigh. Just what I needed to end my night.

Estimated phone wait time is over 10 minutes --- so something must be wrong.

Posted by Moopy, 12-30-2009, 03:00 AM
74.52.x.x subnet down also.

orbit.theplanet.com has errors too.

Posted by ymfm, 12-30-2009, 03:00 AM
74.52.xx down
70.87.xx down

problem seems to be only in part of dllstx6

Posted by mpkapadia, 12-30-2009, 03:04 AM
Anyone managed to speak to them on phone . Wait time it high it seems.
I hope they are not understaffed right now on account of holiday season and that they can fix this quickly.

3 Customers called in so far and confirmed that its down for them.

Posted by ArabCoders, 12-30-2009, 03:07 AM
Indeed, 1 of my servers are down and 2 other are up, i managed to speak with the support team, and they said they are facing some problems right now

Posted by dsmythe, 12-30-2009, 03:09 AM
I have two in 74.52.0.0 and they are both down.. been on hold for over 10 mins and the Orbit is a giant 500 error.

Posted by ymfm, 12-30-2009, 03:10 AM

I'm receiving their IPalert.

Posted by KerrBrent, 12-30-2009, 03:11 AM
I talked to Hostgator and they said ThePlanet is for sure having a network issue without a time frame only for Dallas servers.

Posted by ArabCoders, 12-30-2009, 03:11 AM
yeah 74.52.0.0 seems down and 174.133.0.0, 174.123.0.0 are up

spoke w/ a tech, it is a power issue they are working on it - no ETR at this point.

Posted by getweb, 12-30-2009, 03:18 AM
Yeah one of my servers there is down and I get the same error on Orbit. :-/

Annnnd it's back up. But it's been rebooted! Uptime 5 minutes. Total downtime 38 minutes. Developing...

Posted by jkub, 12-30-2009, 03:18 AM
I'm still on hold w/The Planet waiting for a tech. Going on 20 min here.

Thanks for the info KerrBrent. What a mess!

Oh well, I guess there is nothing we can do about this then if its power issue

Posted by getweb, 12-30-2009, 03:22 AM
I am back up. Only one of my two servers was affected and it has been rebooted unexpectedly. Too bad, I think I was nearing 2 years of uptime on this box.

Posted by mpkapadia, 12-30-2009, 03:26 AM
Ymfm

Are you able to access orbit or their main site . Its still down for me !

Posted by KerrBrent, 12-30-2009, 03:29 AM
I'm up as well now.

Posted by ymfm, 12-30-2009, 03:31 AM
I've checked and I still have one server down.
I can access only the Default.aspx page in orbit.

Posted by mpkapadia, 12-30-2009, 03:33 AM
My server on the 69.56.x.x is online now
70.85 is still down

Can anyone confirm the availability of their server on the 70.8x.x ip range.

Posted by Moopy, 12-30-2009, 03:35 AM

Some years ago there was a fricken lighting strike to the data center, causing a power outage lasting fractions of a second... but it took hours to bring all the servers back online due to fsck and such.

Not saying it will take that long now (this so far appears to be a smaller event) but that's likely what's going on - going server by server to make sure it booted back up. They'd probably want to prioritize that rather than answering the phone/tickets for the short-term... a hard power failure is a rather worst-case scenario for a center during low staffing times. :-/

Edit: My server was also in 69.56.xx.xx range and is back

Posted by igorkl, 12-30-2009, 03:39 AM
mpkapadia,

mine in 70.8x.0.0 never went down, however rest of the servers came back online rebooted.

Posted by mpkapadia, 12-30-2009, 03:39 AM
Can anyone confirm about IP range 70.85.x.x if anyone is using this ip range for their servers?

Posted by ymfm, 12-30-2009, 03:41 AM
I have several 74.52 up, but one down 74.52.1xx.xx

Posted by efree2net, 12-30-2009, 03:46 AM
Yes, our 2 servers also up and working fine.

Servers were really rebooted.

In last power problem I had to reload an OS for one server.
I still have one down. Maybe is a fsck?

Posted by jkub, 12-30-2009, 04:09 AM
Still down in 74.52.xx.xx going on 1.5 hrs of down time

I hope the techs are checking for fsck needs considering the power outage.

Posted by mpkapadia, 12-30-2009, 04:10 AM
70.85 came up for me now . Servers were indeed rebooted.

Now lets wait for official confirmation and reason . I am ok as long as things like this do not happen frequently.

Posted by waduh, 12-30-2009, 04:12 AM
done..

root@janti [~]# uptime
15:11:46 up 56 min, 3 users, load average: 1.18, 1.35, 1.38

thx

ours too, one of them is still down and Orbit is still fck'd so I had to call in and open a ticket w/ support to get in line.

Posted by ymfm, 12-30-2009, 04:28 AM
And we don't receive any reply to the ticket. No ETA.

I think the phone will ring a lot in my office today.
Luckily is only one server,

Posted by ibee, 12-30-2009, 04:45 AM
seems like planet is having some UPS power outage issues, probably this may cause chkdsk and reload issues in some servers.

Posted by Justin, 12-30-2009, 05:02 AM
As this is/was an outage discussion moved to the appropriate area

Posted by jkub, 12-30-2009, 07:40 AM

main site is not an issue.. just our individual servers / websites.

Due to a fault in a UPS in D2/D6, a few CARs were taken offline. The UPS issue has been resolved, and all CARs are currently operational.

-
The gear in D6 is back online and fully functional. If you continue to experience issues with your servers, please create a ticket.
