DonBiz.net shared hosting has been down for a week

Posted by Gbro115, 01-26-2010, 03:55 PM
Since the 20th DonBiz.net's shared hosting services have been out; All we have had is a brief update on the 21st of Jan explaining that the problem was to be fixed within a day.

We've had no response to support tickets or voicemail messages, and there's now a message on their homepage announcing that they are going to cease to provide shared hosting plans.

Opinions on this? Does anyone on the forum know what's going on?

It looks like they are only a small reseller of HostGator so it is either HG's server being down or they forgot to pay their reseller bills.

Just been chatting to HG, they're happy to help me get our content - provided I switch to their services...

Looks like you're right JLHC, it would appear finances are the problem. Which is great, because now we're unable to get our stuff off their servers. And I definitely do not feel like rebuilding 4 sites from scratch.

This also shows why it is always best to maintain your own back-ups as things like this or elsewhere can occur.

Best of luck moving forward from this occurance.

From there website "We will be discontinuing all shared/reseller hosting services and only offer Dedicated Servers and Colocation services." Sounds like they didn't get it resolved.

They should change their template properly because this is hardly visible.

Thread cleaned. It's an outage thread, folks, let's stay out unless it affects you directly, please.

It's now the 29th and the problem still hasn't been resolved...

I've spoken again to HG and they won't give me access to our files as we use their services through a reseller - can anyone provide any advice as to what I can do to get them to give me access?

Your only choice is to contact the reseller directly through whatever means in order for you to obtain your files.

You may want to try contacting them using the following WHOIS information:-

Thanks for all of your advice. And the whois info. Unfortunately, phones aren't being answered as well as emails.

We are prepared to take legal action to retrieve our data. I've been in touch with Host Gator and it appears that they are not reselling their services to donbiz. I don't know how far we'll get with donbiz, so I think it would be preferable to have our lawyers deal with their supplier.

I really need some help to figure out who the supplier of the service is to donbiz.

Their services were hosted on a server 'mercedes.donstorage.com'. I *think* that this resolved to the address 76.73.3.12, but now as the machine is down I can't seem to find any trace of it. I believe it was a dedicated server, in which case the IP should be in a range assigned to the supplier? Is there any way I can figure out who this company is?

Any help is greatly appreciated

Here is the info.

Hosting ISP : THEPLANET.COM INTERNET SERVICES
Server Ip : 74.52.200.164

Thanks Chris.

I hate to be going on about this, but other than this forum I really have nowhere else to turn.

As it turns out, the IP I posted before was incorrect. After further searching, the address was 76.73.3.10. I have been in touch with theplanet.com and they are not affiliated with that address at all.

Any further ideas?

No worries, just trying to help.

We could really do with the domain of your own site though, as that will give the IP address of the server your site was hosted on. It could be different to the host DonBiz.net uses for their own website.

And I think it IS HostGator servers that your account is, they just use theplanet.com for routing, etc.

Of course -
osco.co.nz
seawise.info
aclreconstructionsnewzealand.com

I've continued searching, and have been pointed to fdcservers.net by the tool at ip-address-lookup-v4.com/lookup.php?ip=76.73.3.10 (Sorry for the lack of http, I'm apparently unable to embed urls in posts yet...)

I've sent them an email to see if there's anything they can do to help

osco.co.nz is showing

Hosting ISP : iWeb Technologies
Server Ip : 67.205.85.153
Server Location :
Montreal, Quebec, h3e1z6, Canada

aclreconstructionsnewzealand.com is showing

Hosting ISP : OpenDNS, LLC
Server Ip : 67.215.66.132
Server Location :
San Francisco, California, 94105, United States

There wasn't any info for seawise.info.

All the best with sorting it out.

Thanks Chris.

I'll keep going at it when I get up - 2am down here at the moment.

Your help is much appreciated.

Gbro115, very sorry to hear that you had issues with our services. All the issues surrounding our shared/reseller servers were resolved a few days ago and a detailed email will be sent out to all affected client's within the next day or so.

Also, we do not host any clients at HostGator as we just use their hosting for our main website and our client websites are hosted on our owned hardware which is co-located within FDCservers at this time.
