Burst / Nocster packet loss 50% anyone?

Posted by RealRoxy, 02-12-2010, 10:24 AM
It's from my location in Europe and centralops servers at Theplanet as well - centralops.net/co/Ping.aspx . At other hand, Level3 lookingglass results are fine ( alice.eng.level3.net/ping/ping.cgi?site=ALL+North+American+sites&target=nocster.com&size=64&count=10 ). Can anyone confirm this prob please?

Hi
Same problem here, very slow connection to burst.net

Ping statistics for 66.96.192.202:
Packets: Sent = 29, Received = 18, Lost = 11 (37% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds
burst.net site cannot be loaded in my browser to open a ticket
I hope they will resolve the problem asap

Regards

'Fraid this could be an issue outside of their network, since pings are fine from the Level3...

There was a major fiber cut this morning on the east coast due to a fire in a manhole which affected transport and traffic from Ashburn to New York:

"There is a fiber cut between the route of Ashburn to New York City. The fiber cut has been identified between the area of New York City and Princeton, NJ. There are 20 10G circuits which are affected by this outage. Level 3 has been contacted and they advised that there are 384 fiber count fiber cut in the area of Weehaken, NJ due to a fire in a manhole. The fiber crew is at the location now fixing the fiber cut. "

I imagine some of you were seeing the packet loss as a result of this issue.
