Updates are at http://status.vps.net/

But basically, a routine fire test set off deployment of Inergen in the datacenter - the pressure from the inergen caused a lot of damage to everyone's servers in the datacenters. Right now we're fighting through numerous SAN issues...the pressure from the inergen destroyed many hard drives.

"the pressure from the inergen destroyed many hard drives." - how did you came by this information that it was Inergen?

If Inergen is released and there isn't an large enough escape route for the sudden increase in atmospheric pressure in the room, you might have issues with sensitive stuff like HDDs. Ironic that a product (Inergen) that is supposed to protect data equipment actually destroys the most important component of it.
