hivelocity.net down?

Posted by unable2stay, 02-27-2010, 03:43 AM
Hey,

Is anyone having problems with hivelocity.net?

We have a server down there and their website isn't loading, responding to ping either.

Scheduled (if you could call it that) maintenance. This was sent out Thursday

Quote:
Dear Valued Hivelocity Customer,

Attention:
------------------------------
We have scheduled a maintenance window for Friday Night / Saturday Morning.

Maintenance Window:
------------------------------
12:00 am- 2:00 am (EST) 2/27/10 Friday night at midnight/ Saturday early morning.

Reason for Maintenance:
-------------------------------
Distribution layer network upgrade.

Summary:
------------------------------
You are receiving this email because we are making modifications to the network segment where your server is located. We are adding additional core network devices and upgrading our distribution layer. This will give us added capabilities of private tagged Vlans and private Gigabit backup LANs. Downtime will be limited to about 30 minutes.
It looks like they're a bit out of their window, but maybe they got started late. Wouldn't surprise me in the least, knowing the competency level of their staff.

Indeed, the maintenance should have been finished by now though... Wonder if some problems came up or something.

From my 3rd party monitoring server they started at midnight, so yes they are out of they'r window. But I'm pretty sure they have a good reason for this, since they are very professional.

Seems to be back now. Thanks for the replies peoples.

Any word on why it was late?

If you'd call their services professional, you really need to expand your horizons

They haven't really had any downtime though (today) up until the past hour, everything I've noticed has been since 1am CST
<edit>
Still down from here, so they're not done yet.

Their site is back, however my server is still down.

Edit: Getting some really odd traceroutes:

If you're still down, try rebooting your server, seemed to get mine back up.

I know, odd response, but hey, either rebooting the server magically brought it back, or it was just a coincidence that it was back up within 15 minutes.

I can't even get to my server via SSH, it keeps timing out. I'll just wait it out and see if it fixes itself.

Their site is up.

So, it can be that it is your server only. You need to contact them.

We did have a scheduled maintenance window last night. This was the 3rd and final phase of some network upgrades we were completing. An email was sent Thursday to any customers that would be affected. A copy of that email was posted on our forum Thursday as well. I apologize that the final phase went longer than expected, we started a bit later than expected. It is complete and all services should be back to normal.
