Limestone Networks DDOS again?

Anyone else having issues?

Every time I go to hit reply and type "OK, it's better now" it stops responding to pings again.

Full screen of uninterrupted pings - seems to be straightening out. LSN seems to get hit with these all the time.

Hmmm that doesn't sound too good. I'm actually thinking about switching to lower my payment but this might be the thing that really pushes me there.

You would think a company like Limestone Networks would be able to mitigate such an attack pretty easily, no?

Depends on your definition of frequent. Mind you - this only lasted 5-10 minutes at most. Do people actually notice those 5-10 minute outages? Only if you're on your site. I'm on my site a LOT and I do notice this every few weeks, at least once a month.

Another annoyance is that my IP block was banned because of LSN hosting too many spammer accounts... spamhaus blacklisted a group of LSN's IP addresses and mine just happened to fall into that block even though my IP and my servers have never been infected nor cause of spam.

Aside from those two frustrations - LSN is a great provider. Their customer service is top notch and they were an incredible help two times when my registry randomly went corrupt and I needed to get a new OS loaded.

Quite honestly, I'm a first time home buyer and I just got into a signed purchase agreement so I've been trying to decide if it's time to tighten my belt and get a cheaper server but I'm having a really hard time finding a comparable server for a cheaper price.

I'm surprised he hasn't already chimed in, he's always here. I think he lives in WHT.

Being blacklisted does suck, I've seen servers being blacklisted too because they happened to be in the same netblock as abusers.

LSN seem to have good prices and seem to run a good operation, however there are still things to be worked on it seems - as you state above, for example.

DOS of various kinds do happen, it is about how it is handled at the provider and what ground equipment and capacity is in place. Some providers can swallow what others would get pushed offline by.

I was too. I think that it was quite a strong statement, and I'd like to get proof on this. I personally don't like to read such stuff, without anything backing it up.

LSN sent out an e-mail to all their members saying that they are not having any issues with their network and that people are spreading lies in an effort to steal their customers. I'm curious why 1) LSN hasn't said anything in this thread and 2) why the people who were bad mouthing LSN haven't said anything for almost a month...

Edit: D'oh - I didn't realize that all the LSN trashing/winkie faces about something going on with LSN that a lot of the hosting providers on here were doing have been removed from the thread..
