Problems with Weycrest?

Posted by swf999, 06-03-2010, 10:41 AM
Has Weycrest gone bust? I have four sites hosted by weycrest and all of them are down for almost a week and a half. All attempts to contact them have failed (email, voicemail, e ticket and so on). I know of at least two other guys who are in the same position, sites down and unable to conatc Weycrest.

I am tempted to jump ship rather than wait it out. Has anyone been able to get through to Weycrest? Does anyone know what is going out?

According to a forum thread on another site they went out of business about a week ago, however they put thier servers back online so clients could get thier files, though not sure if they are still up or not.

So looks like you will need a new hosting provider.

This is also a good time to note the following (even though it may not apply to the topic creator, it might help people who are searching for what happened to Weycrest).

ALWAYS KEEP YOUR OWN BACKUPS (just in case your next host doesn't bring the server back online to allow you get files).

I have four sites, only two of which were mine (and are hobby sites - photography and web design and therefore not crucial). Of the remaining two; one was a business and the other a charity. The owners of both of these are pulling their hair out. While I have, of course, full back-ups of the sites (as I did them) you would think it was my fault Weycrest went down.

I also have 3 domains registered with them as well.

So I need a new hosting company, one that will be able to sort out the transfer of three .co.uk 's and one .net. Any advice?

I want to thank the forum for pointing me in the right direction. I now have a new host, who has talked me thorough the quagmire of SH1T I have to do to get my domains back.

Good job, well done!
