Posted by markhard, 07-29-2010, 05:44 AM
i have 2 server there for my clients and both is inaccessible now, respond from technical support is slow and not satisfying.

any other member here using VD and having the same problem?

Posted by Tristan Perry, 07-29-2010, 05:49 AM
Their network seems up for us. No packet loss issues either.

Posted by markhard, 07-29-2010, 05:50 AM
their main website is still accessible, but both my servers is down

Posted by Tristan Perry, 07-29-2010, 06:05 AM
That's odd. It could be a partial thing? Since we seem to be unaffected. Hope it gets sorted for you

Posted by markhard, 07-29-2010, 06:19 AM
no response from them.. been 4 hours waiting

Posted by lemon09, 07-29-2010, 06:30 AM
I can confirm my server with them went down an hour ago. I have just sent an email to the support. Tracepath ends at core.sctn01.volumedrive.com.

This seems to be a routing error, switch or router something is broken, they need to do something about this issue, what a waste of time...

@Up2vps your ip responds to icmp requests but our ips are unreachable.

Posted by NWSTech, 07-29-2010, 07:35 AM
yep down on all 3 of my servers also

I second this. At least they should have someone to be on toes to service problem 24x7, if they are having so many customer depending on them.

In which time zone do they operate and when are they expected to wake up ?

no they are in Scranton PA.

Sadly you MUST expect this from them. They fail @ everything but hooking up a server and letting the fans spin.

Our VPS clusters are down at this time. I would not expect anything to be fixed until much later today considering Josh is the only one who fixes things.

@ burstnet. Did they pay there bill?

Posted by Tristan Perry, 07-29-2010, 08:08 AM
Their entire network is down now. Odd how the issue started 'small' and seemed to affect more and more servers, before finally everything going down?

When they got my server up, i`ll reconsider my position with them, yeah you are right, their reputation is now gone from nowhere to terrible.

Awesome job "JOSH", keep up the good work.

still down and no reply, how sweet.. now my clients are running away

Posted by reviewkin, 07-29-2010, 08:13 AM
Down for 3h 29m , nice...

And I dunno, seems like they're having trouble with the switch or something, Having this kind of up and down since the first of July for me...

Totally disappointed in them

And unfortunately I rent the server from a 3rd party provider, not directly from them, so...well.. there goes my SLA claim, gone by the wind I guess

Posted by st1905, 07-29-2010, 08:17 AM
Anyone have this "JOSH" `s cell phone or something ? Seems like this will be the end of his webhosting business, he needs to find some other job like selling hot dogs or something because this is not his speciality.

Well now lets be fair. Everyone has down time, and since we do not know what this issue is... it may be HUGE that will take some time.
Josh is what the other techs there call "customer service". Basically if they do not know how to handle something it goes to josh which to me suggest that he is very high up in there ranks.

Lets give them time to fix the issue and see what caused it before we suggest a job change for him.

I can understand what you are saying here but keep in mind you cant take people`s money and then dont reply to support emails also they host lots of servers and there are almost nobody managing the health of the network, stability, etc..

So i still say that they need to do another job, not the webhosting business. I have been with many hosting partners, there were always downtimes, issues but they always responded and take care of the things in a timely manner.

So please dont suggest me what to say and think. Thanks.

Hey mate...

have another cup of joe and relax. I know this is stressful! No where did I say "you should be thinking this way!". In fact I only asked that you give them time to work it out.

Time is the only thing we have at this point and we have to allow them it to solve the issue.

How often do you have downtimes with VD? Since we've been with them since April 2009 and have only had 3 total network related issues/downtimes. Our average uptime since April 2009 has been 99.974%, with most months being 100%.

And for a 'budget' provider, that's fairly good (hasn't the new SoftLayer cloud even been down 3-4 times since it was introduced last year?)

I know it's annoying, although saying how your business is ruined, how VolumeDrive are ruined, how the World is about to explode (etc) won't help VolumeDrive fix this issue any quicker, nor will it help you or us.

In short, we all dislike downtime. But getting annoyed and predicting mass bankrupcy won't help things go any faster

And before you say "please dont suggest me what to say and think" - I'm not I'm just giving an opinion in response to your opinion.

I agree with you too, Let's give "Josh" time to get up and fix things. He is very friendly and good person. Every one has downtimes and with the limited rent he is taking for servers, we can expect these situations.

But all said, all good, now the servers should go online.

Hey mate, you are making suggestions still, dont make them to me, yeah only thing we have is to wait!!! The beauty is we dont have any info about whats going on there!!! Because nobody is replying to us, so exclude me when you make a suggestion, is that ok for you ?

Hey Mate :-),
Just chill, "Josh" will come back and help all of us out. We are with him from past 2 years and he has always supported us.
I agree on your point, that their should be someone at toes to reply to our emails to them. But anyways, keeping fingers crossed for fast revival.

You dont understand the point, point is their support is nowhere and it was always like that, no responds to mails etc...

I`m a customer and i`m not a new one on the industry, i know how things have been done and being done nowadays and past, in theory you are right about what you are saying but this is nonsense, they dont even send a reply, they dont answer the phone, lame.

Posted by tomazaz, 07-29-2010, 08:41 AM
I have the same problem, two hours ago my servers went down
Send numerous e-mails to them, no reply.

Posted by reviewkin, 07-29-2010, 08:42 AM
Well, all that I could do right now is to count how much I will give my clients for the SLA Agreement they signed on when they registered with my service , oh life

Posted by aodat2, 07-29-2010, 08:43 AM
Wow... it seems that their services are getting worse. Since I have been with them 3 months ago, I have had at least 3 outages till this problem.

Goodness!!! They are really not doing their job well to keep everthing running smoothly.

If you really think about it, even their website is down. Scary.

reviewkin: you and me both... I'm really going to regret having the SLA.

I agree that not replying to support tickets isn't good (even replying here with an update would be good)

In truth they have always replied to my tickets within hours, although I do realise that some people do seem to have had really slow response times from them so I can understand why you are annoyed.

Posted by jtrivino, 07-29-2010, 08:49 AM
I sent SMS to Josh at this time.

Posted by reviewkin, 07-29-2010, 08:49 AM
I first signed up with them through a 3rd party provider (is it okay to named the provider here ?) a few months ago, around March.

The uptime is top notch until the power outage around a months ago. After that, I feel like I'm riding on a roller coaster of downtime

Well, again, this is life , I'm just hoping that they can resolved this matter as fast as possible.

@aodat2 : yep, counting my bank account now since some of my clients preferred cash rather than credit to their account . Well I can no longer say no, my service, my responsibility I guess

Posted by aodat2, 07-29-2010, 09:08 AM
DH - Tristan Perry : Don't think your 99.9% uptime is going to be anymore valid. Haha. Their downtime, our problem. Geez...

reviewkin : You pay them in cash? Wow... That's a first in this industry.

By the way, have anyone else actually gotten a reply from VolumeDrive? I've been really looking and hoping that there will be a reply or something to some of their clients or reseller but it seems that nobody is talking at all.

If anyone knows anything or if anyone has any idea of what is going on, please do post up here and give us an update.

Thanks.

Posted by Crashus, 07-29-2010, 09:08 AM
VD is using burstnet network or something similar so most-likely we'll have to wait until everything will be ok.

I hope I will see one of my servers soon

Posted by Crashus, 07-29-2010, 09:10 AM

Server up again now (for me at least) Always good when a server comes back up; is almost like a "phew I can breath again" feeling

Seems some of their network is still having issues (judging on the fact that some here are saying only 1 of their servers is up), although hopefully it'll be sorted soon

Hello,

your site dns servers are still down, as well as volumedrive.com

Also one of our servers are still down.

I would highly suggest that you go and turn on the servers that were powered off?

O got 2 back up, VPS is down still, and that still leaves my other server that the disks died 72 hours ago to be rebuilt.
This time last year I had 9 servers with Volumedrive now I have 3 and a VPS as my customers buggered off due to downtime (take ages to reboot) and hardware failures but I am in UK.
I was tempted to ship over a APC reboot port but why should I the service was said to be 24/7

Yes, our mail server was down earlier. However, for a while now we have phased out reboots@volumedrive.com because it's redundant with support@volumedrive.com. Please only email support for support related issues.
