SoftLayer WDC Packet-Loss

Posted by react2k, 09-21-2010, 11:01 PM
I've been seeing consistent packet-loss on traffic exiting SoftLayer WDC via Internap today. In the range of 10% at 2PM EDT, still at 3-5% now.

Anyone else seeing this? Here are various destinations that have transited that path today: 98.197.168.1 174.54.186.1 savvis.net

Escalated to their network folks and they've been entirely unresponsive for several hours.

rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 14.582/14.723/14.932/0.106 ms

if your not happy with there network or any aspect of the service I would suggest you move on to another provider.

One thing for sure is that if the issue was wide spread WHT would be filled with reports about it.

The fact that your D.C has not respond to you at the moment suggest it's isolated to you or a few customers and it's out of there hands and most likely a transit issue.

Hi, thx.. I've found discussions on the SL forums so its not just me. In case anyone else encounters this, that might be a better reference.

Excuse me, but you're being extremely brutal. Seems as though you may be friends or partners with them to be in here as a non-customer.

SoftLayer did not provide me reliable transit while I was hosted with them as well. Server had hardware issues and support was extremely lackluster. Yes, I moved on and maybe this OP will as well.

Maybe this is what 100TB of free bandwidth to individual servers can do to a network?

I'm sure if it was SoftLayer-wide in WDC, there would have been a lot more people here complaining. Good luck in getting it resolved.

Tell us Chris.

When you get out of bed in the morning and trip over yourself right away.. does it hurt?

I have no ties with softlayer. I never considered being a customer of theres let alone a partner.

My comments do not even suggest such a thing. Where you even thought to bring those comments into this conversation is way beyond me and is something i could care less to understand.

WHT is NOT a support site.
Again in case you missed it while tripping over yourself. WHT is NOT a support site

My comments were not brutal. If you were offended then I suggest you and your sensitive feelings stay away from forums.

Take my comments for what they said. It is shocking that the customer found an answer for there issue on there providers website vrs a support ticket. duh??
