Limestone Latency

Posted by dave - just199, 11-11-2010, 12:27 AM
We are seeing high latency and packet loss at Limestone networks tonight.

Start time: 10:50pm Eastern

Yep, same here... Major packet loss and high latency.

/me thinks the network is getting hit hard with a ddos

Same for me too, wonder what's going on.

I am sure they will have it cleaned up shortly but here are the numbers that we are seeing.

--- www.limestonenetworks.com ping statistics ---
24 packets transmitted, 11 received, 54% packet loss, time 23005ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 233.719/234.423/236.187/0.716 ms

Looks like it may be starting to stabilize some... Latency beginning to drop every few ping cycles.

EDIT: spoke too soon... for a while there, the latency was about normal, but now it is back up there.

I'm experiencing this as well. 50-70% packet loss I can't even login to submit a ticket!!

Update: Spoke with them on the phone, they know of the issue but don't know the cause yet.

Same here.
My normal ping is around 40-60, now 250-350.
Still with no staff response.

Has there been any contact from Limestone Networks yet?

Posted by dave - just199, 11-11-2010, 09:56 AM
Are you still having problems karl?
We stopped seeing outages last night around 12:30am Eastern

--- www.limestonenetworks.com ping statistics ---
25 packets transmitted, 25 received, 0% packet loss, time 23996ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 20.098/30.540/50.847/10.964 ms

It's still pretty slow compared to what it was prior to the outage, my site loads in around 5 seconds. Still waiting for some contact, if any, from Limestone networks.

If I am not mistaken our route to limestone changed, I went and did a quick check and you are right things are slower although we haven't had any customer complaints "yet".

From what I've seen Limestone are pretty active here, it's strange how no one has yet commented on this.

I think we lost Telia last night.

Thank you all for your patience as we investigated this matter. Our Network Engineers have confirmed a network issue late last night. This caused latency throughout a portion of our network until mitigated at 11:10pm CST.

If you are experiencing continued latency issues or if you have any additional questions at all, please do not hesitate to open a ticket.

There have been no changes to our upstream carrier connections.

Do you have anymore information about it so I can inform my customers what actually caused the latency?

All solved same night.

I agree with Karl here, I would like to know what happened. we like to log datacenter issues so that we can track recurring issues with our providers.
