HostHunger.com Down :(

Posted by HostManager, 12-08-2010, 01:52 PM
Does anyone know what is going on with HostHunger? It is down more than 12 hours...
I have no way to contact them

Posted by Kevin K, 12-08-2010, 02:45 PM
I have tried to load the website and it is not loading for me either. That is not a good sign if this host is down for that long. I hope you have a backup of your files.

Is there any way to get in touch with these people, does anyone have a phone number or outside email address?

Posted by HostManager, 12-09-2010, 11:18 AM
hostclients@gmail.com ... but no one answers

Posted by cobster, 12-09-2010, 12:12 PM
Next Question I wonder If we can track down the datacenter who owns the machine this company uses. Or if it is on one of his own pc's at home on a dedicated ip. Hmm.

Posted by cobster, 12-09-2010, 12:51 PM
Me too very worried this isn't good. I knew better than trusting someone that didn't have a phone number to contact them. I looked over it because at the time the price was rite. But now i see i got exactly what i paid for.

OK Guys i got a response from HostHunger Heres what i got from them:

Hello,

The server is having hardware failure. A new hdd is attached & data is being copied there. The server will be up soon. We appreciate your patience in this matter. For a fast response you can send email to hostusers@gmail.com

Regards.

Posted by makubex, 12-09-2010, 12:58 PM
thanks cobster. I hope it dont take too long.

Posted by cobster, 12-09-2010, 01:00 PM
I just emailed them back to get an approximate time to the "Will be up soon" I told them it wasn't cool not sending the clients a email.

Posted by makubex, 12-09-2010, 01:02 PM
yes...if they had sent us an e-mail us we would not be so desperate

Posted by cobster, 12-09-2010, 01:13 PM
OK Here's their reply to the question about how long its going to take, and why they didn't email us.

Hello,

As our website is down as well we do not have client data base available currently. Hence, we were unable to inform you. However, we are replying through this alternative email. The data is currently being copied to the new drive. It should be completed in next 6 - 7 hrs approx.

Thanks for your understanding.

Regards.

Heres a company thats been real helpful during this transition, if your looking for someone with a good rep that holds up their end of the bargain, who has a phone number for support and who makes sure everything is taken care of for you, Ask for Darren at k-disk.net. Excellent to work with.

Posted by makubex, 12-09-2010, 01:46 PM
I see, i work with k-disk too.

Posted by makubex, 12-09-2010, 11:13 PM
still nothing... server still down...

Posted by cobster, 12-09-2010, 11:15 PM
yeah i see that, and ive sent them a couple more emails and no response now. grrr.

Posted by Kevin K, 12-09-2010, 11:25 PM
The sad thing about this is that it shows they only have one server. Their biggest mistake and one that should never happen, is they host their website on the same server as the clients. Now if the service goes down, like it did now, how are customers going to get support.

This is a very rookie mistake and not a good sign of their business and operations knowledge.

Posted by moin1407, 12-09-2010, 11:40 PM
it was good web hosting
generally services go up but it is going to be bad day by day. very sad!

nothing to say!
i have heard about server down manytime
i havnt heard about down with main site and support system!
wah what a system! lol!
but i have to find another hosting..
no other way..

Posted by cobster, 12-10-2010, 01:42 AM

I have to agree here,
It seems their main site came back online about an hour ago but I am not sure about the customers websites. We have a gentleman in our account transfer queue from HostHunger, I attempted to log into cPanel to attempt the transfer via https://hosthunger.com:2083 and the login failed, when I tried via the IP Address the customer provided, I am still getting a "page cannot be displayed". I think they may have moved servers but I cannot confirm.
Are any other customers having the same issue?

Posted by cobster, 12-10-2010, 01:20 PM
Keith I signed on with Darren Yesterday and Look forward to a nice long relationship with your company. I got the alpha master master reseller. very nice setup.

As for host hunger they've moved their site off of 66.96.248.23 and moved it over to 66.96.248.22. Our accounts aren't on that machine. Getting extremely pissed at this situation. I need to get these backups.

Latest Update (AGAIN)from Host hunger

"There was hardware failure in the server. The hdd was failed so we had a new hdd installed & data copied to it. However, the server did not boot up with new hdd as there were issues in new hdd. We have OS reinstalled in another HDD & currently the data is being copied to it. It may take 6 hrs as we have more than 1 tb data in the drive 350 GB is copied till now approx. The server will be up as soon as copying is completed. We apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused to you. This is a unfortunate set of incidents & we assure you for quality service in future."

Why's that? GMail in my opinion is one of the most reliable email providers, whether it be free or not. Just because google search is free, is it of lesser quality?

We use GMail for our backup email, in case anything ever happens to our site, backup servers, redundant DNS setup, etc - in such case, customers can still contact us via GMail!

Please note google also offers GMail for your own domain, http://www.google.com/apps/intl/en/business/index.html

I see nothing wrong with hosts using such.

Posted by cobster, 12-10-2010, 08:12 PM
Gmail rocks its stable and reliable, and a great support contact mail. I do know what Wintereise means, if you associate it with the whole fly by nite hotmail, yahoo mail throw away account thing. But gmail doesntwork like that its not a throw away, its an awesome mail with tons of room and features. quality companies use it.

Posted by cobster, 12-10-2010, 08:22 PM
I just got another update from HostHunger:

theyre back up but i cant find my files im not happy i hope this is a file linkage issue

Posted by Wintereise, 12-11-2010, 03:02 AM
Gmail is awesome, yes. But eh, I dunno about you guys, but in my opinion every 'company'(or is 'hoster' the correct term here) should operate their own mailservers. Just my own opinion. Didn't mean to offend anyone and I'm sorry if it did.

I see where you're coming from, but I see no reason a company should invest separate money to host an off-site email server when companies such as Google offer the exact same thing for free. That wasted money could go towards something a lot more efficient and helpful for their clients

Posted by cobster, 12-11-2010, 11:18 AM
I think using gmail as a backup sales and support contact is a responsible thing to do. I mean they offer it also where you can put your own domain over it. so instead of gmail you can use your own domain. but no matter its bad business to run your company site and your webserver on the same machine.

On a highnote

Hosthunger the sites are up, whm is up, but cpanel is down and ftp is down. I hope this is resolved soon

Posted by makubex, 12-11-2010, 11:53 AM
Same problem with me, i cant see my files in ftp , and cpanel with problems too...

Posted by cobster, 12-11-2010, 01:19 PM
they are having a linkage problem, and they have to redo the permissions on each account one by one, they gave a 24 hour window till everything will be running as they should. so tomorrow morning it should be done. i hope.
