Yep, mine is down as well.

Then again, if you had checked your email you'd get this message:

DimeNOC is now ready to complete the final phase of the facility's power expansion. This involves the integration of an additional 320KVA UPS system to their facility's infrastructure. DimeNOC has scheduled the integration of this additional UPS on Monday January 10th, 2011 at 9 AM EST. For this reason, we are providing you with advanced notification so you can plan ahead. The integration is expected to last for 2 hours. No down time is expected during this integration because this new system has been already successfully inspected and stress tested by a third party. However, in a worst-case scenario, there may be a 15-20 minute downtime at the max. We do not expect this to happen, but we are well-prepared in case it does.

Although it's almost noon EST now.. lol

I think, there's some technical issue with the servers. I received the following response:

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused for you. We are facing serious network issue at our end. Our network engineers are working hard on this and all the servers will be online soon.

Our servers are under emergency maintenance and will be back soon. We are expecting your cooperation with us in this regard. Thank your for understanding and patience in this regard.
Hope its resolved soon.

Yeah, well, you know, the last time I received a message like this from my last host, the follow up was that all of my data was corrupted and they'd have to do a complete re-install.

Hope this isn't the case with VPSLatch.

The network and main nodes are back online. If your VPS still isn't online, it's possible your VPS is still booting up. Please allow up to 10-15 more minutes. We appreciate your patience during this time.

I would be interested to know why VPS Latch emails have stated that this was due to 'server maintenance', when the reality is that there was a huge failure at the Data Center. Don't lie to us and treat us like idiots.

They also posted nothing on their Twitter account about it. The only post during downtime was an automatic post taken from a feed - that isn't good enough.

What e-mail are you talking about? Please let me know the subject title so I can understand which e-mail you are referencing about. I'm unsure if this maintenance that happened today was even scheduled by HostDime in the first place, the e-mail we sent out for maintenance of power integration the other day was an e-mail HostDime sent out to us, we simply forwarded it on to every client. We are not "lying" and unexpected outages do happen in this industry. Thanks for your continued trust and loyalty.

Ticket 445953

"Your server is online after server maintenance. Please have try now."

It wasn't server maintenance. Or an apology.

I was told by someone at VPSLatch that this was due to a DDoS attack on the datacenter. I honestly think you just need to give them a break, or at least cut them some slack. I've dealt with DDoS attacks before and it's no easy task mitigating them - just give it some time. My server has been up since early last night without anyway problems.

Looks like everyone needs to start singing from the same hymn sheet then.

I have 'cut them some slack', and my VPS (2 of them) were down for only an hour. However I do not appreciate being misled, and, lets face it, lied to.

It was not server maintenance - even if what you are saying is true.

Hi Rob,

We are not lying about the outage, our server technicians nor did I know about the outage last night until Hostdime confirmed it was due with a DDoS attack affecting the section our servers were located in. However we weren't aware of this until a few minutes after your ticket was answered, and then we started updating clients with the reason Hostdime has stated after we were made aware of the proper reason.

I understand you are frustrated and you have every right to be, however your server should be back online at this time, and if you require any additional assistance please contact us through our HelpDesk.

Thanks,
Adam
