This is the email I received

------------------------------------------

Hello

We are expering serious trouble with the new VM01 - VM03 and OVZ01 currently suffers because that as well!

We have cancelled the OVZ01 to OVZ04 so its very urgent for us to move your VPS to the new nodes.

Currently we experince problems with the I/O even its HARDWARE RAID10 for best performance.

Currently OVZ01 is being migrated to new node server but because of the stupid I/O trouble it takes ages instead of max 2 hours totally.

Secondary DC just today notify us that they can not switch IPs over for OVZ01 and OVZ02 , so you will get new set of IPv4!!

I am sorry for the downtime and we will issue everyone affected with discount on your next invoice.

I know it may not be easy to accept the downtime but we struggle to get the new servers to behave while we also need to make backup / migrate your VPS off the old node servers.

Currently VM01 and VM02 and VM03 are offline! If we can get it solved, they will be back this afternoon otherwise I am afraid it will take a little longer.

Once your VPS is online , please make sure all data is intact and its working as desired!

If you have important data etc, please submit a ticket and make it clear in the subject line!

Best regards

Sean C & The NordicVPS Team

6 hours the VPS is down, only class-I indicated above. But you wait 6 hours and an answer to my messages of support and no response.

Sorry, do not write / read the English perfect.

My VPS is back online but it was down for some time. I hope that NordicVPS could explain what happened. HUGOBLUE is the repersentive of NordicVPS on the WHT forums.

Thats pretty worrying...the grammer, the general laid back 'we're giving you new IP's' -thats a huge deal for most people, they seem to shrug it off. Very unprofessional and amateur attitude (IMO).

Yeah I agree but the service before last week was very good. The email that was sent out was a seperate issue than what has been going on since yesterday and today.

Yes I saw that I now put IP .. ping is .. appear at an nmap open ports but no port is not functional .. I can not access. I can not reboot / shutdown or boot. It's dead.

It seems a problem in Hetzner network Telia connections.

But in their status page doesn't say anything about it yet.

To see what support has nordicvps, either here or by ticket and do not respond. Websites VPS-S (obviously something default) but important .. I can not run because apache does not see dns to hosts that you have added.

My problem will be resolved over 2 weeks or so, they solved the problem like this.

Does anyone have recommendations from other VPS servers? Affordable prices, as well as resources (not to be shared) but real.

Thanks

Try hetzner directly: http://www.hetzner.de/en/hosting/pro...-produktmatrix

I don't know about their support.

Had about 67 downtime periods in last week on two different VPS on two different nodes. They lastes from a restart (about 5 min since I/O is poor) to 8hrs at one occasion. In little contact i had with support Sean told me that they have problems with some abusers so they cut off CPU Speed on all VPSs and moving around VPSs on different nodes. So far VPSs are up but it seams that they limit all VPSs to 2x0.4ghz or 1x0.8ghs. Pages thats need generating needs ages to load. They had some seruous issues at DC and hope it will return to old good service before this...

All down again...

Posted by daniol, 02-24-2011, 08:47 AM
Shame all it's down again.

Why has this company a Twitter profile if it isn't used for situations like that?

Management of this server migration is really worse than expected. Could be normal issues, but if you don't open a constant communication way with your costumers it's really a problem and source of bad reputation.

Posted by EuShellS, 02-24-2011, 09:07 AM
They twitter, MSN support or other means but the answer is nothing .. all-and offline. They do experiments on our money and our nerves evident.

Even began to be increasingly miserable problem. Neither did they come here to answer them, but I found nothing mesja private.

NOD's Peak that is online but all VPS's are dead.

I apologize if you did not quite understand, but it's hard to me to read and writing in English :-)

Posted by Spirit, 02-24-2011, 04:06 PM
They mostly don't respond to tickets anymore. When they do they are sending out canned responses which don't really give any answer.

It will be most likely as last time when they appeared after longer downtime here and requested from us to send them a ticket disregarding the fact that they ignore tickets always when things go wrong and answer them only when there aren't any problems (which is rare).

This host isn't capable to run servers properly even one single month and always vanish when they screw up things as long they don't fix it which usually isn't few hours timeframe but few weeks timeframe.
I am pretty sure that HUGOBLUE will appear to WHT after some longer time of hidding again with his standard "we are sorry.. but... bla bla... if you have problems send us ticket" but this don't really help us now..

lupetalo, this problem seems that they do experiments on us and on our nerves and clear and our money and running up to each. They want to do something on a server where the clients and run important services that .. ultimately that's why you went and you bought because you needed them.

But I see that it is great cowardice at all, not get anyone to respond and to assume a problem. Regretfully we have to do something negative against nordicvps, to guide potential customers to avoid the "company"that if I can just tell.

Speaking of NOD ovz09 .. ping of the VPS, but he does not have access can not start, stop or reboot can not give, they start so dynamic .. I already I moved all of them on an existing server to another network.

down again... wTF

I see there is a contact phone on their homepage. Why don't you just call them and ask what is going on?

Posted by lupetalo, 02-27-2011, 07:01 AM
Sometimes VPSs are up but its slower than any free shared hosting. they limited to one core at 0.8ghz or two at 0.4 each. This company is going down, i have moved customers somewhere else and recomend that to all. No response from them. They took our money and i will make sure that everybody see review. I was customer for 4 months and a have something to say!

U call them. It will cost you more than vps for one year...

Posted by daniol, 02-27-2011, 07:52 AM
Use VoIP for calling.

If someone calls and then uploads here the recording, it will be funny.

Posted by Spirit, 02-27-2011, 09:57 AM
The most annoying thing is that they will pretend like nothing happens like they did month ago when they was down whole week (well, now is longer) and like such WEEK+ downtimes every month are normal...
And then they will of course request from us to open support ticket... while THEY IGNORE ALL tickets at the time of downtime.

Posted by rds100, 02-27-2011, 10:01 AM
I don't know, i haven't used any of the NordicVPS services myself and i am not trying to defend them in any way. I just wonder how could this work - i think a company having 7 days downtime would be completely out of busyness on the 2nd or at most at the 3rd day, no?

Posted by daniol, 02-27-2011, 10:13 AM
Here is latest statement. A new migration again?

Quote:
Hello

We received quite many tickets regarding "VPS wont boot"

Please do not SPAM with repeat tickets - It makes it harder for us to navigate through all tickets!

We are rebooting VM05, VM07, VM08 and VM09 now. Your VPS will be offline!

We may need to migrate VPS's off these four (4) nodes to new nodes later, as the nodes does not seem to be able to cope with the load!

When we migrate you again, you will get a totally new IP as the nodes will be in different DC house inside DC hosting center, they can not route the IPs across the houses!

We will begin migrating the remaining VPS off OVZ01 to new nodes!

VM05, VM07 , VM08 and VM09 will be offline or a short period of time!

We have a short list of VPS we suspect did not migrate properly but these numbers does not match with the current number of tickets!

We will go trough the list of suspected failures and contact each customer, once we trough that list, we will have a look on the remaining tickets!

Do not send support tickets if VPS is offline now, since the nodes are down!! We know!

Do not send support tickets if VPS is offline after a reinstallation! -- This can be fixed any time later!

Thanks

Best regards

NordicVPS.com Team

Ok, did anybody else noticed how SLOW vps is. I hont have any load at all and page is loading 10 sec!

Why they limited CPU to 800Mhz? It is so crappy vps.
It will be restored to 3.2GHz?

They say its up, but like this is unuseble!

I find this insultive from host which don't respond to any tickets.
From host which have every month one or two weeks downtime!
From host which show no regret for their incompetent harmful dealing with customers. From host which always appear here only when things are (temporary) solved.

@rds100 I will tell you how this work. They lured plenty customers with really cheap yearly payment so customers have no much choice there... Tricky, a?

this will be my last vps with NOrdic..too much downtime with them,,i would recommend Bhost.I had one 3 hrs downtime and they compensate me with 1 month more..

Hey, that's short period for nordicvps! Their stuff can be down per week sometimes!
(and I am not even kidding)

NordicVPS is not professional.

My VPS in NordicVPS is down now 15 hours.

¿Its so difficult to say to the customers the true? You could say to the customers: The migration will start at X, and is estimated to finish at X. And if you have problems with your DC, inform us during the migration and change the estimated time. With this information i could think about moving to another VPS, and i will have a backup of one minute before the migration.

And its supossed i am paying a Virtual server, there is no excuse, with VPS there is no excuse for so much down time, the only excuse is that you have not doing well your work.

NordicVPS hide the information and we pay for it. I dont want a discount, i want information to have the posibility to do what i want, or wait or go out.

I will wait today. I will write review of this situation in my webs.

And if is not online today i will move with my backups (12 hours before migration) to another VPS and i will open in all the headers of all my pages a link with adecuated anchors pointing to a subdomain nordicvps.mydomain.com in all my pages indexed in google with an explanation and a review of what type of business is doing NordicVPS and i will spend all my adwords acumulated to use adecuated words to redirect to this subdomains and inform all the people i cant of this situation, because i think i am a very good customer, but i cant tolerate that you hide the real situation to me.

I will write this in english and spanish, this last is my native language.

I am thinking also to go to the courts and ask to celebrate a view in my country for this situation.

I will wait today to see how this unprofessional actitude finish.

Posted by lupetalo, 02-28-2011, 10:49 AM
15 hours is nothing compared to some of us...
And also when it is back up run "cat /proc/cpuinfo" or simply test vps and u will see how vps is unusable at 1 core at 0.8ghz

Its incredible, i have never seen so much incompetent and ridiculous service like NordicVPS.com.

Posted by Scientist, 02-28-2011, 02:35 PM
Seems like they tried consolidating several servers together to save on cost but everything is falling apart because the servers can't handle the increased load. Well... at least they're doing something by migrating again.

I only have a $15/yr test VPS with them so downtimes are to be expected. In fact I think the service is "alright" for the money. However, sucks to be you if you have a larger plan with them

That would explain cutoff in CPU power. Im fckd then, i got 2 VPS for one year 35$ each...

Hugoblue admitted on lowendbox a month or so ago that they actually lose money every day that their $15/y & other Buyvm-ish plans are in play. At one point they were asking people to turn in their IPV4 addresses to help the company reduce costs as, unlike their Hetzner spot, their Fremont spot is charging them monthly for each /24 they have in use.

I'm not sure why people don't do the math first to make sure they're not just scraping by but also putting away money incase something huge goes bad. Yes, the yearly $15/y deals are a fun way to market and grow a client base but unless you know what you're doing, you're not going to turn a bit of profit on them and likely lose out.

The only reason I can see them upgrading to these fatter nodes was to try to merge together other nodes and generally lower their overhead. With them doing a 2nd/3rd round of IP renumbering it's just making them look incompetent, though.

They're running $20/y deals right now but if they couldn't make the $15/y pay off, nor the $35/y, I can't see how they're making $20/y work unless it was simply 'moving capital' for these rebuilds.

Either way, enough of my rambling. I wish everyone the best of luck with their systems

Some nice provider side info there Fran. Sounds as if you already predicted this mess of theirs long before. They don't colocate so I'm guessing the overhead costs are killing them.
Probably just about break even on costs (or even lose money) and using this as an opportunity to gain experience hosting budget VPS.

I predicted it for quite a few on lowendtalk as well as a post on these forums. There's 2 - 3 others that are in the same boat. There was a thread on LET I put up predicting what's going to happen to the budget VPS market once IPv4 prices start to raise.

I got pretty deep into the discussion but fell short of naming my '2011 dead pool candidates' as that would be unfair of me considering i'm also a host

The thread is here.

I don't know if i was originally put on a decent node, or if i'm just lucky but i have no problems what so ever with my VPS.

It does goes down for short periods sometimes, but i don't have any major problem with nordicVPS.

You can find the uptime report here

In the last 6 months they had 99% ( 1 day, 2 hours ) of uptime almost dropping to 98% the VPS is monitored since octuber 2010.

And after a post about NordicVPS, i made a support ticket about the CPU speeds being slow, really slow and nearly un-usable and someone gave me 8 CPU cores, at full speed and my VPS is "wonderfull" now.

I guess, i'm lucky?

Posted by Spirit, 03-01-2011, 02:06 AM
Bernardoo are you sure that you're on one of their german nodes? Something telling me that you didn't read this thread and you're not even on german nodes but their single .us node which is somehow still up... otherwise your uptime from last two months wouldn't be even near 98% but rather 75%.

What about previous month downtime which lasted whole week because they "needed to do some paperwork with DC because someone abused their service"? My rough guess would be that they can't fooling around .us node as there's only one, but they try to squeeze rest few hundreds users on few german nodes in process which took in total more than a week of downtimes or/and non working services with even bigger mess as result.

Lucky?, No, that is a miracle friend, a miracle.

In the case of NordicVps.com, the worst is not the downtime (that is intolerable=36 hours now), but the absolut disaster in the information you get from the support = ZERO. They change the IP of your server whitouth an email notifying you, you only received the email: Hi dear customer, we love you so much that we have changed the IP of your VPS, we expect that you are in home just now and could change it, remember that your server will be down because we have changed your ip, ah, we forgot it, the ip is: XXX, and because you are not all the day in front of the PC this change is downtime in your server. Then they say that finally dont migrate my server for now, that they will start the migration before 28 Febrero, ok, but at what hour?, what day exactly? Dont answer with this information the tickets. I did backups but in my magic ball i couldnt predict exactly the hour of the migration, but 12-8 hours before, so they decide to start arbitrarily the migration, and then you are absolutely alone, the support dosent say nothing specific of your machine, only generic information of all the nodes and their projects to increase the power of their machines, yes, but my machine is down, is very interesting all your intentions, but could you say me when my machine will be online?,, no they cant, hours, and more hours down, 36 hours, and now i know people that they have down from TUESDAY, so i have migrated with my old copy to another server, not so much higher price, but a real enterprise, and not three pseudohackers friends like i imagine nordicvps staff that dosent care the customers because they can close their fictional business and open with another name in days. In this migration they showed me than they are incompetents and liar people. And if your machine in nordicvps.com works now, think about my experience and how they will respond you when you feel alone waiting their inexistent and generic answers that didnt resolve nothing for hours. Ah, the server is still down.
Sorry for so long text and for my bad english.

I know that a lot of people are quite annoyed with NordicVPS at the moment with the VPS's not being very good at the moment but they are working incredibly hard on it.

My Suggestion: If you have a backup of your VPS then ask them to create a new VPS. It will happen a lot quicker and you will be able to get back to work A.S.A.P. I said to them last night at 4-5PM (GMT 0) and they got back to me with a new VPS a few hours later. (There was a bit of trouble with the routing but this is being looked at by the DC support team at the moment).

Hope this helps some people.

I seriously doubt. It looks rather that guy working on it in his lunch time otherwise HOW CAN MIGRATION TAKE WHOLE WEEK? tumcaf said that he's down around 40 hours. Well, some of our vpses are down, interrupted, etc... whole week and counting.
And NO... asking them anything is just waste of time as they in their ordinary practice ignore our tickets. You're maybe lucky or you reply on behalf of them or something but THEY DO NOT RESPOND ON ANY TICKETS so how to ask them anything?
I am pretty sure that guy will appear around later and request from us to open tickets like he did AFTER previous month fiasco when node was down whole week but NOW, when things go wrong he's hidding same as always.
It's completely useless to open one ticket more!

I solved myself. Here is how to:

1- Go to vpsmgr and go to "ip addresses" section
2- Change main ip to an old ip. wait.
3- Change again old ip to new ip. wait.
4- it's working again

The whole cat /proc/cpuinfo would be kinda really big to post here, but you can see how much CPUs are dedicated by doing that command anyway.

Code:
[root@pride ~]# cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep MHz

I'm not allowed the whole CPU size but i have 8 cores dedicated.

Very annoyed yes. I can say you than i am very comprensive in my real life, so much than i seems idiot sometimes.

The migration has been an holocaust, not a migration.

I finally left nordicvps (I have to move one domain more only).

The server is now online, three days later, alone in front of the monitor.

I paid days before the migration so i left the server with one month paid, and with a Discount cuppon of 50% in the next recurring Amount of $65.70 US (6 months)(I have old prices still), its supossed that i could get the next 6 months for 33$.

But i dont want nordicvps.com even free.

We are sorry for the recent trouble due to mass-migration of VPS's to new nodes servers.

Everyone with a OVZ512 or higher plan should be able to enjoy good speed and performance, but we still have around 10 - 50 customers who needs to be migrated to the new servers!

Everyone on VMxx node servers will be upgraded to better server soon as possible -- we will need do backup of your VPS and re-create your VPS, so its not an easy process and thats why its taking so long to finish.

Thanks for understanding.

Posted by Spirit, 03-05-2011, 09:05 PM
You're sorry? Do you think that anyone still belive you? You're ordinary hypocrite with most possible crappy service ever and unresponsible people like you bring to this industry bad name. There's not exuse for weeks of downtime because "migration", for weeks of ignorance of your support tickets, for your appearance every time when things settle a bit (but not before!), etc..

Where have you been last two weeks? Hidding as always when things go wrong, correct? It was predicted that you will appear here after few weeks of ignorance and here we go... Hugoblue finally appeared just to tell us how sorry he is because his crappy service with 65% uptime, regular IPs renumbering and contant support ticket ignorance.
