October 24, 2012 – Industry-leading managed and unmanaged Virtual Private Server provider KnownHost.com announced today that it is acquiring well-respected Uberhost on October 24, 2012.

This latest agreement mirrors growing activity in the mergers-and-acquisitions space this year for web hosting companies.

Industry news outlet TheWhir.com recently reported in an article that Peter Hopper, CEO of DH Capital, told the audience last month at the Hosting and Cloud Transformation Summit that “there have been significantly more deals in 2012 already than there were in all of 2011.” And that he expects “a lot more before the end of the year.” Also, according to the article, “he thinks managed and hybrid cloud models will be extremely effective in the next 12 months.”

Among larger tech-company deals, media outlet VentureBeat.com published an infographic of the big-picture buying spree this year, citing LinkedIn’s purchase of Digg’s patents and Zynga’s purchase of OMGPOP, among others.
