resellerclub.com is offline, anyone know what happen?
all his servers are offline, including redirection

Posted by Apolo, 05-01-2011, 06:59 PM
Yes, it's down.

And what worries me even more is that some 'A' records are missing when querying domains using their NameServers.

Posted by Vinayak_Sharma, 05-01-2011, 06:59 PM
Yes they seems to be down from here too.

Not just some "A" records, their name servers are not responding at all.

The actual servers which host the NameServers look like being up (IPs 74.54.56.227, 67.15.47.188, etc), and in my case the A records first stopped working and then the whole NameServers did.

It's down still for me.

Posted by Vinayak_Sharma, 05-01-2011, 07:14 PM
Just checked few other IPs of theirs, it seems their DNS system has gone down. Every thing DirectI is down.

Now it makes me think, how come all the DNS went down at the same time, they seems to be using 4 NS with several IPs per NS.

Maybe it's a network issue.

If someone has good contacts at ThePlanet/Softlayer, get this checked, as I am sure people at RC must be sleeping at this hour.

Posted by roberts118, 05-01-2011, 07:16 PM
it still down!

Posted by intellitech, 05-01-2011, 07:21 PM
This is NOT looking good ... it's taken all of our domain names (because the DNS won't resolve)!

Posted by albatroz, 05-01-2011, 07:21 PM
I use resell.biz and it seems that they also use some of the infraestructure from Directi as the domain that uses the dns of them is down too.

Posted by albatroz, 05-01-2011, 07:34 PM
Time to do some research on dns backup providers...has anybody tried zonedit?

Posted by dotcomUNDERGROUND, 05-01-2011, 07:47 PM
Is ResellerClub having DNS issues?

manage.resellerclub.com itself is not resolving. I have tested it host-tracker.com as well.

We use their managed dns servive for a lot of our domain and i find some host names are not resolving. For some domains www.domain.com does resolve, but subdomain.domain.com is not resolving. Any one else experiencing such issue?

As support.resellerclub.com is not resolving too, I am unable to live chat with them or even open a support ticket!

Posted by intellitech, 05-01-2011, 07:51 PM
It seems like there definitely is an issue - http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=1044784 - so, you're not the only one unfortunately!

Posted by infracom2005, 05-01-2011, 07:59 PM
back up !!!!!!!

Posted by Vinayak_Sharma, 05-01-2011, 08:04 PM
Okay they are online now.

Posted by intellitech, 05-01-2011, 08:07 PM
I sure hope there's an explanation to all this ... !! Though am not sure if an explanation will do, more importantly how a repetition can be prevented!

Posted by dotcomUNDERGROUND, 05-01-2011, 08:10 PM
Looks like the issue got resolved. I can access the RC login url and my hosts are resolving too.

Posted by dotcomUNDERGROUND, 05-01-2011, 08:13 PM
finally its up!

Posted by cobra3000, 05-01-2011, 08:13 PM
Yea, resellerclub.com is now reachable.

Live chat operator gave me this link http://forums.myorderbox.com/index.p...r-nameservers/ don't know how to view it, no way to login or register.

Posted by Vinayak_Sharma, 05-01-2011, 08:33 PM
Okay was able to login, (uses same email ID and password that is of orderbox).

It just says that they know of the problem and are working on it, no other information, this was posted around 6 hours back.

Don't have posting rights there so can't ask them why they are running all DNS in the same network, may be on a single server, 4 NS and multiple IPs could be just an eye wash.

Thanks - I sure hope we get more than that as an explanation of the downtime for this!

if have a reseller account use the same user/pass to login to the forum.

BTW here is the message:

Quote:
We are having problems with DNS Resolution due to network error.

Problems are being encountered with normal working of nameservers due to which, the domain names using our nameservers may face temporary disruption of services.

The System administration team knows about it and they are working on it. Please follow this thread for more updates or contact the support team.

Our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused due to this.
And update:

Quote:
The issue was caused due to an attack on the server. The technicians at the data center have enabled network-level flood protection for several IP's on the same VLAN which apparently are being attacked. Currently 24.2 Mbps of malicious traffic is being dropped.

We should see this attack subside in a short while. Do get in touch with our support team for any queries.
Now from the above, why all 4 NS on same server, what's the use of using 4 NS and each NS has 3 IPs when every thing is on the same server.

Posted by M Bacon, 05-02-2011, 09:03 PM
It's online now. I haven't checked Reseller Club in a while. Looks like they lowered the initial fee to $99. I may give them a shot.

Posted by Chris-WS, 05-02-2011, 09:36 PM
We had a similar problem with NetEarthOne, they reported: (it's now resolved)

http://forums.myorderbox.com/index.p...r-dns-servers/

What they have posted there is:

Quote:
We are currently facing issues with our dns servers due to which site resolution for some of the sites would be affected, the System Administration Team has already started working towards fixing the issue and hence would request your patience.

We would keep the post updated once we have more details on what is the exact cause and the steps taken to avoid it.
Quote:
All DNS IP's have been placed under the TMS guard to mitigate the attack at the DataCenter.

There is an abnormal amount of traffic inbound to our servers at this time. We have enabled network-level flood protection to protect our server. Protection will be enabled until further notice.
Quote:
The traffic coming in to the DNS servers is now subsiding. We expect the service to work normally shortly.
Quote:
The issue seems to have resurfaced and we are still seeing some unwarranted traffic hitting our servers, we would request your patience in the meanwhile as we check further on this issue and take necessary steps to fix it.

Posted by realvaluehosting, 05-06-2011, 05:05 AM
Yep.. gone down but seems getting online again now.

OK, so I contacted zonedit.com guys asking for a DNS redundancy solution and they mentioned the option of setting up a slave zone. Does anybody know if it may work with resell.biz or resellerclub.com
DNS?

BTW I found another free dns provider PointHQ.com

Posted by freethought, 05-09-2011, 05:04 AM
I'd certainly recommend PointHQ, it's run by Adam Cooke and the guys at atechmedia, who are very friendly and produce some really nice hosted software.

To address some concerns raised on this thread, I wanted to share some information.

On Friday 6th May, 5 am GMT our servers were hit with an extremely heavy DDoS attack. We were getting about 120,000 queries per second on each of our servers (about 40 times the usual peak load).

An early investigation revealed that the attack originated from China and we immediately placed our IPs under TMS guard (it filters the incoming malicious traffic, and lets the genuine traffic through, although it is prone to false positives). The TMS guard started blocking all the traffic from China.

We tried returning the servers back to normal at 10 am GMT but found that we were still receiving abnormally large traffic. To mitigate this we had to leave our DNS IPs in the TMS guard for the entire weekend.

In fact, the attack has still not completely subsided but we have been able to restrict it to a manageable state where all services remain unaffected.

I wanted to share some facts with you:
- We have multiple DNS Servers with complete redundancy
- We regularly face DDoS attacks but our systems manage to prevent our services from being affected. Our resellers are therefore never inconvenienced
- This particular attack was abnormally large due to which we had to take preventive measures leading to our services being unavailable for a few hours

Steps we are taking to prevent such outages in the future:
1) Adding additional dynamic firewalls which will proactively mitigate such attacks
2) We are increasing our server redundancy even further to buffer against similar situations

I am extremely sorry for the inconvenience caused to all our resellers and their customers. I can assure you that we are taking every possible step to ensure that our system is not affected by such malicious attacks.

Well if there are multiple DNS servers, why they all are in same network/location?
