MDD Hosting down??

Posted by Grimtaz, 05-18-2011, 04:51 PM
All of my web sites are down. I also can't get to mddhosting.com

All other pages are working fine so it's not my connection. Something must be up with MDD Hosting. Anyone else having issues??

It just came back up. I'm going to assume that it was a problem at Handy Networks since their site was unreachable as well.

We did have a facility-wide networking issue. In the event that you cannot reach our site or yours we suggest checking our twitter feed at http://www.twitter.com/mddhosting

Indeed, we'll have an official Reason For Outage posted on our forums shortly.

The total outage was 22 minutes from start to finish.

Initially it appears we were bit by this bug: http://tools.cisco.com/Support/BugTo...gId=CSCsw63003. The net result was that all BGP sessions flapped, and once they came back online, they were not functional (routes were not installed properly into our FIB and we were not properly exporting our routes).

The bug was triggered by a routine route-map change.

We have to log in to see that page, could you perhaps quote the bug contents here?

Side-note: Jay Suds is from HandyNetworks (our facility) since signatures here are disabled and I'm with MDDHosting.

Here is some more information about the bug:

Continous BGP activity may result in increasing amounts of memory held

Severity
1 - catastrophic

Symptoms:
Memory increase occurs in 'BGP Router' process due to BGP path attributes. Memory used by this process increases constantly and so do the BGP path attributes while the number of routes does not increase.

Workaround:
Reload the router if low memory conditions are reached or identify the root cause of the churn and attempt to fix that.

Our facility has gotten us the official Reason For Outage which we've posted on our forums at http://forums.mddhosting.com/topic/5...dpost__p__2403 for any who are curious.
