Internap's NYJ001 POP is offline due a botched maintenance by their fiber provider. The outage is effecting us, and anyone else connected to that POP.

Yup,

When I called them at 1:15 they didn't know.

To give you more, depressing, details their provider, lightpath, apparently did maintenance and either didn't notify them or they forgot and took down both fiber runs.

The part that bugs me is that both NY4 and NY2 are apparently 100% run off those two fiber runs, there's no peering done in either facility and they don't even have fiber with different providers or different directions.

That bugs me because like a lot of things I was told differently (multi-directional fiber paths and peering within the facility)

That's just great...

I was also told they were suppose to have additional fiber paths to prevent such issues. Of course, if they are all with one fiber provider that doesn't do much good if maintenance is done that effects all of the paths.
