ServerBear - Now Tracking Uptime & Live Hosting Outages

Posted by serverbear, 12-16-2012, 08:28 PM
For the last 4 months ServerBear has been providing a rich benchmarking dataset to people wanting to compare web hosting plans by more than just features.

We currently test:

- UnixBench
- Disk IO / IOPS & Single threaded FIO
- Network performance
- BearScore (our own metric that combines performance with cost)

Users can drill right down to the individual plan & see how performance for a host varies over time (or by location).

Web Hosting Uptime Monitoring

ServerBear is pleased to accounce that we are now tracking uptime of hosts by location. Easily see which hosts have had downtime in the last month, when & for how long.

You can view our Uptime Leaderboard here.

Live Web Hosting Outages

ServerBear is also the first website to offer live outage information for many of the popular web hosts.

Currently we show the latest outages + hosts than have been down within the last 24 hours. We plan to allow you to select a date to view all hosts that were down on that day.

You can view our Live Outages here.

How We've Been Helping Users

ServerBear provides a new element of transparency in the web hosting industry that hasn't existed until now. Use our script to compare your current plan against a database of 1850+ alternatives (with 2000+ benchmarks).

Over 30,000 users get exposed to our dataset every month - users that are actively looking to find a new hosting plan or an alternative for a poor performing plan.

How We've Been Helping Hosts

Many hosts have started embracing our reports & benchmarks to help them not only improve performance for customers, but also to show off their performance when posting offers on forums.

From the data we've seen this has been increasing the uptake of plans by upwards of 100%, users feel more confident with a transparent look inside into the performance of the plan they are signing up for.
