Levelhosting.ca down

Posted by Kustud, 08-30-2011, 03:34 AM
Hi

Both my sites and your homepage are down.

Do you guys have an ETA on being back?

Having just paid for adverts for my site this is very frustrating as I am missing out on visits.

Cheers
Dave

Levelhosting.ca hosting went down 10 hours ago. It seems that the server is up (http://96.47.42.64 shows the default cPanel page) however the DNS is not working.

Their website and all my hosted domains are not accessible. No support available, their support email is bouncing.

Does anybody have any information regarding what is going on at Levelhosting.ca?

Posted by F-DNS, 08-30-2011, 04:51 AM
They're hosted at Softlayer Dallas (no issues there or there'd be a 10 page thread here by now ). Like you say, their server is up but not serving anything. All their DNS is hosted on the one server (bit dumb to have no redundancy for situations like this).

There's a coupe of tweets about them being down but nothing on their own Twitter: http://twitter.com/LevelHosting

You could try calling the number in their Whois: +1.6472975058

My client I stuck on here is breathing down my neck, any word on when you will be back on-line?

Posted by Kustud, 08-30-2011, 11:21 AM
My accounts down too and nothing mentioned by them.

Very dissapointing, wasting advertising money spent on my site at the moment.

I just registered for one year and the hosting went down the next day.

Has this host gone down before?

I heard great things in this thread, but they are currently not living up to the reputation.

Hello WHT,

Early this morning we experienced an issue with our DNS servers and are waiting propagation to complete. We do realize that this will have an impact on most sites but not all sites are affected. Due to high call volumes our lines are busy. We would also like to inform that this was the first downtime we had in 24 months and would appreciate your patience.

Hello MarioKid,

I apologize for what has happened and will gladly refund your account if you don't feel confident in our service. I know it doesn't look professional when a site you just sign up with and goes down the next day. We haven't had any service disruption in the last 24 months.

My hosting went down too they were good for the first two days I had them though, fast speeds and great service....but now there down! I only paid for a month, still might use them if they get it back up fast....

Please update your domain names hosted with us to use the nameservers ns3.levelhosting.ca and ns4.levelhosting.ca, this will help to resolve the issue until the ns1 and ns2 re-propagate.

But please note, name servers changes of domains may take at least 24 hours to get propagate all over the Internet.

> Unable to resolve target system name ns3.levelhosting.ca
> Unable to resolve target system name ns4.levelhosting.ca

And for your previous NSs...

> Unable to resolve target system name ns1.levelhosting.ca
> Unable to resolve target system name ns2.levelhosting.ca

So what's the point of asking your customers to swap from one non-working set of nameservers to another non-working set of nameservers, especially as according to http://www.intodns.com/levelhosting.ca they're on exactly the same 2 IPs still on the same server?

Just saying

Hey, mines up now as of 12:10am EST! Thanks for getting it fixed levelhosting!

Posted by LevelHosting Inc, 08-31-2011, 12:24 AM
It is fixed now. The registrar didn't update the name server records correctly. We were going back and forth with their techs to resolve the issue and they kept informing us it was our name server and not from their end but this was certainly not the case. There is a work around solution in place now and we will be working on a perm solution within the coming days. During this work around there will be no downtime.

We appreciate your patience in this matter and your continued patronage.

I am a new customer and my account was suspended without any notice. Avoid them at all cost.

Here's the transaction details:

Subscription Payment Sent (Unique Transaction ID # 33348965SL2525425)
See related S-8LJ29885UT514350W
You can see all of your recurring payments on the My preapproved payments.

Thanks, all back up.

:-)

Give them a chance to fix the DNS issue. I did and my customers sites are back on-line. If you filed a dispute before the backend fix, your account would go into auto suspended by the system.

Your account was suspended due to excessive CPU usage from a few of your PHP processes. Unfortunately, this all took place when everything with the DNS happen. For that very reason, you never received the automated email from the server.

I noticed you opened a dispute already instead of waiting a little longer to find out what happen and letting us try to work with you on this matter. Please note, we're not in business to take our customers for a ride for an entire $1.47.

Either way, we have issued you a full refund of $1.47. In addition to this we will even create a back up of your files for you and provide you with a link where you may download your back up.

You should have sent me a notice first before suspending my account so that i can move my website to another hosting.

Anyway my last webhost was crocweb before i moved my site to your hosting. And take note they never suspend my account, im just having bandwidth limitations so i decided to move it to another host.

Hello Vitomaltese,

Every thing should be backup as of last night. Are you still having issues accessing your website?

As jason has requested are you having issues with your site? I tried accessing your site hosted with us and it loads from the workstation here and remote locations as a test.

I believe jason also sent you an email to confirm. As you confirmed earlier and as we stated everything is 100% now.

If you need anything please let us know.

There is nothing to take note of. We have our own business procedures and policies in place. That said, we need to do what is in the best interest for all of our clients. Our main concern was to contain the issue of the high server load and the countermeasure was to suspend the account causing the high CPU usage.

We could have sent a notification but due to the matter we couldn't afford to wait for an X time frame.

Either way, you have received your refund. Best of luck with your new host.

Cheers,

Hey sorry about that it seems to be working, I think I knew what happened it was just my browser/internet doing that for some random reason not sure why, it let me on my site, after I logged into my ftp program.

Is levelinghosting.ca experiencing some downtime again?

I haven't been able to access their site or any of my hosted domains since yesterday afternoon. I've also tried contacting them at 1-888-411-0075 numerous times with no luck.

Posted by Jeff Bee, 09-15-2011, 03:12 PM
I am able to access their website without any problems, perhaps it is your connection?

Posted by tiffy, 09-15-2011, 03:30 PM
Thanks for checking, I appreciate it.

I'll just keep trying to get ahold of them to figure out what my problem is.

Hello Tiffy,

I reviewed the ticket you opened with us.

Not sure why this thread was bumped since we are not facing any server or network issues and are running at 100%. Which extension did you select when you called? I checked and there are no new voice messages from yesterday or today. If you called and hung up we have no way of tracking who called us. If the issue at hand is important to you then please leave a detailed voice message so we may return your call.

If I were in your shoes I can understand the sense of urgency you experienced and inconvenience nonetheless, for the record your website was never down/offline and was accessible to all site visitors.

In this case, your IP address was blocked by the server firewall due to multiple incorrect login attempts to your cPanel account. If you're having a hard time remembering your password try setting a password you can remember or store it in safe and secure file. If you were copying your password from a file ensure you are not copying any blank space.
