they (he) recently changed the domain to uptimevps.co but their website and control panels are not resolving. No reply to emails either, so that my £24.43 lost!

Im quite close to Reading which is his registered address on a whois search, I'm tempted to pay him a visit!

they just ran away
very weak and crap support i have one windows and linux hosting from them i have applied to paypal for refund of money i have paid 95 Euro to them they are just crap

How can they fail this quickly when it seems everyone and their dog is dropping 45 - 95EUR/ea into their paypal?

They didn't even have to pay for the first 30 days of OVH.

file a charge back with your bank and they will get it back through paypal trust me, i just got taken by a person that did this.

uptimevps.co was hosted on OVH Datacenter server, and it seems that server is down now, same as my VPS in OVH, but my VPS in Hetzner still works...

Last email from UptimeVPS:

I'm just saying, calling it a scam may be jumping the gun. Sure, do chargebacks or whatever you like, but I would leave ruining whatever reputation they have left until the fog clears, so to speak.

I am a somewhat new customer with UptimeVPS. About 2 weeks prior I signed up. Since the initial signup everything has run perfectly and Ken helped me immediately with any requests.

Yes, the Solus VPS panel has been down for days (almost 10 or more) but this is due to their domain name being locked up. Since all their customer control panels link to a domain that is no longer in their control, we don't have a way to login. I think this has to due with a payment issue on OVH from what I have read.

My VPS server is on Hetzner.de (through UptimeVPS.) and continues to run perfectly.. although I do not have access to my control panel, only root access on my box. (Hopefully it doesn't crash.)

I hope Ken can come on here and tell us what has happened with his domain name.. its understandable for everything to be broken since he lost his domain. I hope he doesn't let the loss of his domain deter him from continuing the business.

My guess is that he is in the process of negotiating the return of his domain, but he should keep his customers more informed.

Everything I have typed is from reading what others have posted, my experience with Uptime and some sleuthing.

Regardless, I have started the download of all my data in case my server goes poof.

One more thing, Ken if you are unable to get your domain data back from wherever you are hosting your main site, I noticed someone did a nice thing and backed up your entire site to HTML haha..

Look around for the twitter and or facebook of Ken Nash.

The guy has just disappeared, trying to delete his tracks. Scam.

Even in a scenario in which he is hospitalized, or emergency X happened there's no excuse for leaving paying customers without service for 10 days.

Well, I still have service for now.. just no ability to reboot or do anything else. Also I have no idea when my box will run out from the main provider.
All in all a terrible situation.

Also, if someone is going to scam people, and already has nothing but fake info for all the contact page.. why bother to remove all the fake info? Better to just disappear.

Very strange and sad.

With that being said, anyone wanna go in on a box Hetzner.de EQ 4 box with Proxmox?

Well, UptimeVPS.co is/was owned by Ken Nash, a resident of the United Kingdom according to the domains Whois.

Therefore, in terms of court proceedings, your best bet is to find a customer from the United Kingdom and ask them to visit their local Citizens Advice Bureau.
Civil Action does seems to be the most likely method to gain 'justice', so it might be worth looking up the ol' British/European legislation.

I sincerely hope UVPS' clients will recover from this. Best of luck to those effected.

Ken Nash is most likely an alias. There is, however, plenty of information about this guy online already. It's only a matter of time until someone knocks on his door and asks for his money back.

Yes. When a company goes bust, it pays back its customers. "Going bust" after two weeks, not answering mails, facebook, and twitter, that's a SCAM.

If a company is liquidated voluntarily then it can pay back it's customers, but if a company becomes insolvent because it is unable to pay it's creditors, then there is no money to pay back the customers unless the administrators can either sell it or liquidate it for more than it owes.

I just have to sit back and laugh at this sort of stuff, I mean people as the saying gos you get what you pay for, If you pay for an offer which is simply unsustainable the business is most likely unsustainable which in turn causes problems like this.

Heres one tip: Simply go for an established provider which is sustainable... Problem solved!

Surely going with an established provider would be a tip, however laughing at those who lost their data - regardless bad practices when it comes to both who they purchase services and data-backup - is a bit rich, no?!

no, because you need to keep backups of your own data all the time, good or bad provider

If it was a registered UK company you should be able to find out the company address and Dirctor details through Companies House.

By the looks of it, this seems like it was set up as a scam.

I seriously doubt it been a registered company or even anybody self-employed, probably just some kid needing money for Friday nights out
