Virpus - ovzjupiter down for over 24h now

Posted by wst_dirk, 12-30-2011, 04:46 AM
In the last 3 days the ovzjupiter node was been down for several hours, then back up and then again down for a few hours. Now since yesterday around 7h30am (gmt+1) the node is down. This now more then 26h fo downtime.

Responses from support: "working on it".

When asked to be moved to a different node, it was simple "mail sales and ask them"

ETA for fix: unknwon

Hi,

Well seeing the price, you get what you pay for.

If you want a good support and not charmed by Extreme performances you should look on serious business with serious prices.

Normaly someone to maintain its business with those performances need to Oversell its servers and from this the problems come up.

I would suggest to you next time when you purchase a vps check the reviews and also purchase a vps just to test it and see the uptime.

I hope Virpus will solve this issue asap.

I know what I paid for....don't need a lecture.
Independantly of what I paid, the least a provider should do is keep their "stuff" running.

Seems they put all Belgians on Jupiter...

What you describe is typical of Virpus and other low cost VPS providers. As far as I am concerned, I see their offers as a good deal to run applications that are not business critical.

I'm over a year with them and this is the 2nd "big" downtime.
I have VPSes with other low cost providers and with most of them this is not typical at all. Serveral of my VPSes have uptimes of 100 days and more.

Nothing wrong with Virpus from my experience. Their support has been good so far and performance is fine. Don't expect a Knowhost treatment when you pay low dollars, and if you really are on an unmanaged hosting platform then don't expect fast support even if your node is down. We happily pay them the 10 dollar extra monthly for management and that has proven to work out pretty well so far.
