Cannot contact Nexpoint Web Hosting

Posted by Vered, 03-16-2012, 09:16 AM
Does anyone know what's wrong with Nexpoint. Trying to contact them for 2 months - no response. Looks like they may be going out of business.

I saw on their CONTACT page that they said they were having trouble with their primary phone #. Did you see that info?

Yes, They have 2 toll free numbers and one local, all not working. And not responding to email. Been trying for 2 months.

You could try using this newfangled service called electronic mail?

Fair point.

OP - are you getting ticket creation emails back when you send them something?

There is another thread about this as well, so you're not the only one. I can't post the link however...

While searching the web about a Nexpoint outage I came across this thread. I'm in the same boat as this morning my domain and email server that are hosted by Nexpoint went down. Thought it was a normal short term outage till I went to their web site to get their phone number only to find out their phone is also down. I've tried three different numbers and they are all disconnected.

Right now I am praying that this is a temporary issue as all my emails for the last 2 years are on their server.

Worst case scenario question - how do I get my website back if they go out of business? I have all my email up to today's outage - but the website is just gone, disappeared.

You would use your backups to restore your site with a new host.

FYI - no response to actual emails both to support and to billing (which I know worked as of last month because they processed my payment). No response to the tickets I opened on their own support website. And of course, no phones of any kind are working.

Have you got a backup of your files? Because if you have, like spaethco said you could restore it at another Webhost who is reliable.

There's one bad review on there, but i'd try their numbers if I was you guys.

Sorry to hear you've had problems.

Well, my email and 2 websites just came back up. As soon as I get up in the morning (it's only 2 am) I will be making a backup of everything I can just in case.

Philip, are you able to access your stuff now? I hope you can.

Nexpoint is unresponsive to me, also. Does anyone have suggestions on how to transfer the domain to another host. I'm not worried about content, at this point, but I need my email addresses back up and active.

Thanks for any help!

Brian

If you want to switch to a different hosting company just contact one and tell them what you want to do. They can set you up with a new account and should be able to tell you what you have to do to transfer the domain name. Once they set you up with space on their server you will need to transfer the files you used to build your old site to the new server.

On a different note are you still having problems? Since the initial outage I experienced a couple months back my domain has been up most of the time with only a few short term outages. I'm due to renew one of my domains this week but I don't know if I want to risk staying with them or going ahead and move to a different hosting company. I have been with Nexpoint for about 10 years and they have always given me good service till a few months ago. Would hate to bail on them if they are only having some short term issues. But if I can not get a response from them to discuss what's going on I may have no choice but to go elsewhere.

Okay, please ignore my last post as I was told wrong (plus I saw the other post about Nexpoint that tells how to transfer domain names). When things went south a couple of months ago I was talking with another hosting company and asked how to go about changing domain registration when the company that registered it for me is unresponsive and looks to have gone under. I was told that that wouldn't be a problem and they could do it. But after reading the other thread about Nexpoint I found out I was told wrong. Sorry about that.

The sad part is this afternoon I found out my email was down again. When I tried to access my primary web site it was up. Just an hour ago I found out that was not completely true. If I typed in the domain name without the www up front I was okay. But when I add the www before the domain name then it acts like the domain doesn't exist. To add insult to injury if I do a ping command from a DOS window with and without the www I get 2 different IP addresses.

Yes, I agree, Nexpoint used to have GREAT service. However, they don't now and are way too unreliable. I am trying to get my domains switched off of their servers. It is too bad, but lack of communication forces the issue.

I wish I would have seen this back in March. Now their website is completely down and so are 2 of mine! I have a few backups but not anything that new. It looks like they may be out of business.
