Just an FYI, with a host as large as JaguarPC - they probbably don't keep their own site on a server that is also used for customers

Hello,

Does anyone know what's up with Jaguar PC? Their severs are down and my VPS is down.

Surprisingly their website is also down:

I understand they were having some problems previously; do you think this is a technical issue or something else?

(Usually I'd check their support when a VPS is down but kind of hard to do so when their site and support system is down. So hoping to find some answers here)

Hi,

I'm unable to open my portal or ping it Management hosted with jaguarpc.

I went straight to jaguarpc.com to open a support ticket and even their site isnt opening.

Any more customers with the same problem?

I can confirm that secure.jaguarpc.com is down. I went there because a VPS is down.
So no VPS, no way to open a ticket about it. It's been down for 20-30 minutes now.

There were also some micro-outages earlier today, 5 minutes here and there for about 2-3 hours.

Hmmm.... :/

Great to see my VPS is back up as well.

Completely agree with you graywebhost; they should have sent an email update instead of twitter. (maybe they host their email system on their own server and it was also down)

I think kpmedia knows how twitter works

He probably belives, just as I, that he doesn't live and die by twitter, facebook and other popular social media. Email is an invaluable source of communication and should be used first and foremost when a provider needs to communicate with their clients. If a client is unaware of a problem, how is a client to know to search out twitter, if they don't live "in the twitter bubble"?

Seems like jaguarpc is having a few problems as of late. I know they are a quality provider so I have faith they will have all if it sorted out soon. Sometimes, when it rains, it pours.

Hello,

It looks like JaguarPC is currently running at it's fullest at this time. Although, JaguarPC's servers are very durable and they are always working with their clients to provide service with excellence. I currently have many servers with JaguarPC and they have proved alot in the many months i've been with them, from basic questions to implementing new security measures they were there with me. Although, like there support had told me earlier in the year. "It's technology, and sometimes it does fail or need human help in order to succeed."

I thought i'd share that with you guy(s). Have a wonderful rest of your day.

I think there's a big difference between fair criticism (2+ hours) and whining (5 minutes). Plus I thought the purpose of the outage/updates forum is for awareness, not complaining/reviewing. If 5 minutes kills your business, get a dedicated HA cloud at a premium datacenter.

I do not agree with you, the problem is not the server down for 5 minutes, the problem is that this has been repeated constantly.

I have 7 downtimes total from 3/31 to 4/3. The one that started this thread was about 1 hour, and attributed to errors one the network (not with any of the servers). The others were between 3 and 6 minutes long. That's likely a datacenter error, outside JPC's control. In fact, I tracedrt'd a VPS, in addition to JPC's own site, and each time the failure was at Total Server Solutions.

There is a routing loop between some routers which belong to to the service providers through which the packets are routed to our servers. This is mainly related to not-fully propagated routes across the service provides around the world. Thus if a packet goes through the network which does not have updated records, it loops until the TTL of this packet is expired.

We are working on this issue along with the DC techs and will try to get it resolved as quick as possible. The updates will follow on our forums.
The network loop is noticed through nLayer, Tinet.net and perhaps others are involved. That means if packets from your end-devices are routed through these carriers, the packets will be looped until TTL of the packet is expired.

We still work along with the DC techs to get this resolved but everything is fine inside our network. We just need the routes to get fully propagated to other service providers around the world.

We have added more links and capacity in recent weeks. I'm discussing this with our techs and engineers, there should be no lingering effects besides a faster network. This never should have happened, and nothing should still be happening. Definitely open tickets if you havent already.

There was indeed some emergency network maintenance that took place this weekend that took down parts of the network. This is the first time in a long long many years we have had the network take down even our own site.

Looks like the issues have appeared once again, some IP's are responding but the majority are down. The JaguarPC site is down once again so not possible to open any tickets, although on past form I doubt it would do any good

Hi,

JaguarPC seem to have had another major outage right now, their website is unreachable, phones don't seem to get anywhere from UK. Any idea what's wrong? A power outage? Network outage? Any tips would be appreciated.

It's a network outage -- it started on 3/31, and has been repeating itself intermittently since.
I think it's at their upstream/DC, not in the Jag network itself.

From what Jag said yesterday, it's only affecting traffic that goes out on certain carriers. I would get alerts on one of my monitoring servers in NA, but not in Europe -- and vice versa.

Yeah, it's annoying, but I have faith JPC is working on it. Or rather, working with their upstreams to get it fixed.

When you pick a good host, you can rely on them to fix issues.

There was maintenance performed by Cogent. Thus we had to close the layer 2 link to Cogent. They anticipated the completion of the maintenance by 7:00 EST.

Cogent's maint completed, the circuit was restored, the circuit was activated and all is functioning normally.

Not too sure if this is legitimate but it seems like a fair compensation.

I wasn't going to claim it but I think with all the downtime throughout this month (3-4 times?) I might give it a try.

That was for their VPS downtime though and not the network time.

That compensation was for downtime on one of our UK servers. If you still are having troubles with your VPS, please open a support ticket.

Ah yeh, Just searched up their SLA:

I guess that's the compensation; from the ticket response I got:

So Let me know if I got this right:

Assuming a $72 VPS
72/720= 0.125

0.125*10=1.25

1.25*1 hour downtime = $1.25
1.25*2 hour downtime = $2.50
1.25*3 Hour downtime = $3.75
1.25*4 Hour Downtime = $5.00
