Scarabweb down?

Posted by MelanieG, 04-06-2012, 11:48 AM
Does anybody use Scarabweb.com as a hosting provider? All of my websites are down as is Scarabweb's main page. Email has been unanswered and the phone number they have listed is "not accepting calls". Freaking out a bit...

I am not using them myself but can confirm that their homepage seems to be offline. May I ask how long they have been down?

Not sure exactly since I just jumped on to check a little while ago...maybe about an hour or so. Odd that their phone number doesn't work.

I would give it another 1-2 hours before you start to get too concerned. They may be having an outage or undergoing a DDoS Attack

That could be true...I'll check back in a couple hours or so. Thanks for the replies, guys!

Hello,
It still seems down, you may want to give +1.6143028467 a call

Posted by azmi, 04-06-2012, 02:10 PM
It is still down, no answer to support mails and phone not accepting the calls. Time to worry?

Posted by MelanieG, 04-06-2012, 02:40 PM
Yea, that number is not accepting any calls. Guess there isn't much else to do except wait it out. I have had so many issues with them as a hosting company...was planning to switch next month to somewhere else anyway.

By looking at whois, i think it is owned by madeitinc.com. Tried to call them but no answer.

I'll try sending an email to the address listed on that website, but doubt it'll get a response though.

I just got a phone call (returning a voice mail I left). He said they were about 20 minutes away from having the problem resolved. It is some kind of network issue.

Huge thanks for that update! Surprised you were able to get through by phone. Keeping my fingers crossed.

The reason for the phone issue may have been network related or they may have just gotten flooded with calls

Still not working so I guess they haven't resolved the problem yet...been 8 hours so that's pretty ridiculous. Anyone hear of any updates?

Finally working.

It must have just came back up, I checked 20 minutes ago. I wonder what the issue was

Posted by MelanieG, 04-06-2012, 11:49 PM
Yep just checked as well and they are back up! Not sure what the issue was, but definitely not renewing hosting with them.

I would not go that route yet, every host has some sort of downtime. If this was the first period of downtime, I would advise you to contact them and get their side of the story before jumping ship.

Unfortunately, this isn't the first issue I've had with them and I was planning to before the downtime since I'm up for renewal next month. Their customer service is pretty terrible and I've had a couple bad experiences with them, which is a shame because they used to be great before they got bought by another company. There are definitely better hosting options out there.
