dme hosting.... Down AGAIN

This is getting beyond annoying. Time to pack up and move out.
Yeah, yeah, they advertise cheap services, but those services SHOULD at least be up and running. THE worst network I've ever been on. Repeated VPS downtimes, repeated issues with everything.

Any word as to what the issue is?

Haven't bothered asking
Their staff is about as helpful as, well, asking a cat why the internet is down, not at all.

Been through this on/off for a few months, different vps' every time, every time it's the same thing

Well, it's working now
AFTER leaving the ticket on hold for 8 hours, that is.

Wish I would have known this before hand. *sigh*

2 hours later ..... still down
Amazing, these people have the worst track record I've ever seen for downtime. They even beat Burst (and that takes a lot)

In first post, you said time to move out, but you still enjoying the downtime. 2 Hours. you got enough time to move

Posted by cloudrck, 04-22-2012, 11:57 AM
Considering their website is down as well is there any other way to contact them? Though with the unprofessional response you once received from them I doubt it would do much good

Can't really migrate if your server is down.

I was just browsing there site last night.. Hopefully they act quick and dont intentionally leave you in the dark and then give you an explanation after the fix..

Oh, the moving part's already underway. In fact, it'll be completed rather shortly.

That doesn't mean that one still doesn't need to access things that are on their server, or to access their own domain in order to tell them where to go.

Any explanations from their side?

Never is. Like I said, not the first time, but most definitely the last.

They tend to pretend things like this don't happen. At least they want to try to.

Communication is key, surprising that the majority of companies still don't realize this.

Back up, seemed to be a network issue

I believe they are at FDC's Denver Location. Other servers there seem to be responding. It may be switch level

I paid my second month bill a few days ago and I'm already looking for another host...

I know downtimes are expected, especially on cheap servers... but this often? And for so long?

My VPS at their Germany location is having so much packet loss that its practically down as well.

Typically in the past i will get high packet loss, write a support ticket and then get a reply back saying "its working ok" a few hours later once the packet loss has solved itself.

But in this instance its been pretty much 80%+ higher packet loss for the last 24 hours and my support ticket is so far unanswered.

Unless something changes i don't see me sticking with them any longer, due to the constant network issues and complete lack of customer updates on the issues.

MY VPS is down and there own website is down any word from anybody why........

Posted by Taivastiuku, 04-30-2012, 06:14 PM
Main site and denver location are down. Scranton location seems to be working just fine.

Posted by Taivastiuku, 04-30-2012, 06:32 PM
Logs indicate that Denver was down for 4 hours. Everything is now back to normal.

Has anybody got a reply from DMEHosting lately?

My VPS has about 80% packet loss and has been pretty much offline due to this for 4-5 days now, none of my support tickets have been answered and as soon as i go to use their online chat (when its available) it mysteriously goes offline after i submit my ticket details.

I have backups of my data, but i would prefer to ftp the data on it from the VPS itself as my home connection is slow.

What aggravates me is that they refuse to answer their customers support tickets yet still find the time to place offers in the advertisement section of this forum.

Yeah, Germany's been toast for a few days.
Leave it to DME to just not give a damn about their customers though. No, really, I gave up trying to get an explanation, or any sort of valid response from them, it's just a waste of time.

Last time i tried and throughout the last week the server was still up, its just got massive packetloss (85-95%) maybe its being DDOS'd (the host node, not my VPS) i don't know.

I would be cool with an answer and an ETA of when they would address the issue, but they haven't even responded to my tickets as far as i know maybe they have gone out of business.

It will be quite laughable when they send me another invoice in a week or so.

By toast I mean unreachable, not really 'dead', I should have clarified that a bit more. It's been spotty at best for so long that I've basically turned off alerts for that vps. Looks like that was done around the 22nd or so.

I wouldn't hold your breath waiting on a response, really. Like I said, a waste of time in that regards.

Thats really not what should be expected from webhosting provider , in todays compitation. I feel you should switch your provider as soon as possible.

DMEHosting has been hit and miss for us.

As a rule, we steer clear of anything being sold out of FDC Denver. Strange routing there, tons of network issues (seems to be getting better though) and because it is FDC (really).

Was with DME in Dallas and already had services in Dallas, so migrated to Denver.

Been a number of outages in Denver in the several months we were there. So many that we got tired of pulling the VPS IP from our server pool and just removed it entirely.

The most annoying thing about DME is their hyper aggressive billing. DME sends a late/overdue notice then within 30 minutes sends a suspension notice and pulls things offline.

Deal with dozens of VPS providers and DME is the only one that so aggressively suspends immediately after an overdue.

If DME catches your eye, give their Dallas location a try. It is in a much better facility than Denver.

As others point out, beware of the support issues or lack thereof. I sent an email telling them to cancel our VPS and received back an email on how to go poodle dog-show style navigate their customer system to accomplish this. Sh!t on them for that waste of 5 minutes of my life.

I am totally disappointed about DME myself. I canceled today.
