Snelserver network issues

Posted by backtogeek, 09-02-2012, 09:31 AM
Looks like snelserver's network is down again.

No response to tickets, no one available by phone, no responce on twitter or facebook.

Hopefully they will provide an update soon.

I logged a message for the out of hours engineer.

I've lost all confidence in them. There are whore's knickers stay up longer than a snelserver.

Looks like a global issue, stats.pingdom.com/klagob5ywgad

I also phoned up, they tried to forward me to the office, however no reply. Opened a ticket and no reply too.

Surely there should be 24/7 emergency support for issues like this

Moving inceptionhosting NL servers from them is the best thing to do Anthony

We are very sorry for yet another network disruptancy. We have asked our network provider for a cause of these problems yesterday but we have not yet received any reply, as with all the other network issues we had. For these reasons we have already scheduled a complete move of all SnelServer hardware to another network and datacenter.

After talking to our customers we have also discovered that our telephone service which responds to telephones outside our office hours never tries to reach one of our standby engineers. Until this problem is resolved the phone number will be patched to an engineer directly.

We leaved Snel and feel better with new datacenter.

Looks suspiciously like snel decided to save one day of rent at the new data center so instead of doing the prep yesterday then just arriving with the servers and plugging them in they did no prep, unplugged us all then went to the new data centre for the first time ever tonight. [check out their facebook album]

Anyone been offered any compensation?

They have new servers going online in SmartDC for about a month now?

I doubt they saved any money on rent

They looked to have been taking all the cabling out of the old DC but that's about it?

The SLA States: The scheduled maintenance of Snel IS and its suppliers and factors beyond our control (such as DDoS attacks) are not included.

We have been preparing the migration for a few months now, and we have also communicated our migration three weeks ago to all our clients. We have done all the preparation we could.

Oh so if they said 'we'll be down all next week' you'd accept that just because they scheduled it. Maintenance is maintaining. It's not changing or moving something. For instance say you got someone into do garden maintenance, they come around every week cut your grass and go...if they arrived dug up your garden and moved it to an undisclosed location that's NOT maintenance.

It's not beyond their control. They made a business decision to move because they previously made a bad decision when they chose a sh*t data center. I've had more down time with snel in the last 18 months than I have had in the last 60 months elsewhere.

If you think that's normal then god help your customers.

That is good to hear, we're doing everything in our power to meet your demand and expectations.
If you have any suggestions about our maintenance or migrations please be sure to let us know.
