Servergurus - Down in Chicago

Posted by rmcadams, 11-18-2012, 08:06 PM
Looks like Servergurus is down in Chicago, corporate site is down, phone system down also.

Looks like a bad day.

They actually sent an email prior to the outage about an "EMERGENCY MAITENANCE" from 6pm CST - 4am CST.

I was coming here to see if a an update was posted on their progress and saw your post... nothing on their twitter yet but they did say 4am CST

I wonder if this "outage" has anything to do with this?

"Server Gurus raising prices ..."
http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=1210083

This has taken down vps6.net (my provider,) too.

Thanks for this. I have a screencap from FB and Twitter taken just before dinner here and there were no updates at that time.

Does anyone know why they are offline?

Servergurus back online , but not their services and sites hosted under them ....

Posted by rmcadams, 11-19-2012, 02:53 AM
Just talked to Lee at SG - Sounds like the official story is a problem with a Cisco 6509 rebooting the secondary supervisor over and over causing issues. Emergency maintenance with Cisco on site to fix it, Cisco just left and things are coming back online. While I have no reason to distrust Lee - I do like him, it's odd to see NLayer dropped out of their peering and brought in Above.NET. There were some pretty big routing changes today so we'll see how it all pans out. I like these guys, hope they do a full writeup on the outage and peering changes.

Where has the vps6.net thread gone? We were discussing their Chicago outage. I'm a customer and one of my nodes there is still offline.

Thanks, ugendar. I'm aware of their Twitter account. If you read further up this thread, you'll see their Twitter and FB pages were the first places I checked for information on the outage ... well before anything was posted there about it.

My inquiry, now, concerns the thread I was participating in here discussing vps6.net's Chicago outage. I asked "where has the thread gone?" Do these threads normally get deleted when a discussion on the same topic starts up at Twitter?
