volumedrive.com down?

Posted by andrei155, 11-29-2012, 05:06 PM
My servers with VolumeDrive are down. Can anyone else confirm? It's been 16 minutes now.

Their main website is offline too.

www.volumedrive.com

Posted by heropage, 11-29-2012, 05:08 PM
all my servers are down even their site http://volumedrive.com/

Posted by RSNET-John, 11-29-2012, 05:11 PM
Down from here as well, the domain name isn't resolving.

Posted by Farodin, 11-29-2012, 05:15 PM
Same here, dedicated server is unreachable since 9:50pm GMT+1 (according to monitor)

Posted by HostVenom - Brandon, 11-29-2012, 05:16 PM
The domain doesn't resolve for me either. Also believe this belongs in the outage section

Posted by danny369, 11-29-2012, 05:30 PM
Do you have any ip you may be able to tracert or maybe for others to test the ip

Posted by Host4Geeks-Kushal, 11-29-2012, 05:45 PM
Down for me.

Posted by Nietcheese, 11-29-2012, 05:49 PM
Both of my Volumedrive servers down also.

Posted by Speckz, 11-29-2012, 05:51 PM
I'm seeing a consistent ~80% packet loss for the last 40 minutes or so.

Problem seems to be within their network. Packets get dropped after 64.191.116.246

Posted by andrei155, 11-29-2012, 05:59 PM
Well, this sucks.

Hopefully someone drops in soon and says something about the downtime.

Posted by drakkcoil, 11-29-2012, 05:59 PM
I'm seeing the same thing. 70-80% packet loss for the last 30 minutes or so.

Posted by The Dude, 11-29-2012, 06:01 PM
Maybe its a power outage??

I tried the direct IP (204.124.180.10) and got no response either which means the computer is not responding...

.10 is the IP address of? Their site resolves to .67 and there you get occasionally a response.

Posted by Speckz, 11-29-2012, 06:18 PM
I'm not even seeing any hops now via traceroute.

Posted by andrei155, 11-29-2012, 06:19 PM
Has anyone been able to contact volumedrive? Are they working on the situation or even aware of it?

Posted by vb543, 11-29-2012, 06:28 PM
From @VolumeDrive on Twitter:

ATTN ALL USERS: As of 5PM EST, we have been experiencing a critical network issue. We are working on restoring access currently.

Posted by Speckz, 11-29-2012, 06:28 PM
Looks like it's back up.

Posted by Farodin, 11-29-2012, 06:29 PM
3 Minutes ago they tweeted (volumedrive):

ATTN ALL USERS: As of 5PM EST, we have been experiencing a critical network issue. We are working on restoring access currently.

The problem has been solved!

It has been going on for much longer than since 5PM

The main website is up.

That's a quick fix Great job.

Posted by andrei155, 11-29-2012, 07:13 PM
I can also confirm

Posted by SolaDrive, 11-29-2012, 07:35 PM
We have a few backup servers with them, total downtime was 1 hour 40 minutes. I wouldn't say it was a quick fix, but definitely could have been worse. They should really look into moving their site outside of their DC. I don't see why providers don't do that...

Posted by The Dude, 11-29-2012, 09:30 PM
Yup loads fine now when i go there! (I wonder ZOID if reverseinternet has the wrong IP listed for them (Thats where i got the .10 address))

Posted by DotVPS-J, 11-30-2012, 02:48 AM
I saw this too , I'll have to follow up with Dominick later today , I know Josh is currently in London so I guess he wont know much other than what was recorded Graph wise.

Posted by PaulVPS-Danny, 11-30-2012, 04:42 AM
Get the alert as well, think it should be due to a huge attack.

Posted by vdrivedom, 11-30-2012, 09:29 AM
At around 4:30 PM EST we encountered a network issue. Our techs moved and worked to fix the issue as quickly as possible. We had to take a router offline to rebuild it's image. Services were restored at 5:25 PM EST. We are still determining the exact cause of the issue but will be performing hardware and software upgrades soon. If you are still having issues do not hesitate to write in.

Posted by vdrivedom, 11-30-2012, 10:31 AM
Just an update to my previous post. A network engineer has contacted me and stated it was a bug in the IOS image our core routers were using and has since been updated.

Posted by Speckz, 11-30-2012, 10:42 AM
Thanks for the explanation.

AS a network standard, as this is your core router, I think it should be worth to have another set ready for failover. so while the current router is taken offline to rebuild image, the other router should stay production.

Switch crash at volumedrive, currently all working good.

Posted by PaulVPS-Danny, 01-16-2013, 09:40 AM
Yes, I can confirm VD network has been back online.
Down for hours due to switch crash.

Posted by Chase78, 01-16-2013, 11:35 AM
They keep getting DDOSd recently. Our Dedicated just boots us out from access at around 7pm EST, surprised that it's actually something different this time.

I rang burstnet but they couldn't really do much as I am not volumedrive.

He said he wasn't seeing much traffic to their switch therefore could be a flood or something and he would take a look for me.

He said for any more information they would of have to contact them.

Posted by andrei155, 02-01-2013, 07:21 PM
I'm experiencing this too

Posted by Farodin, 02-01-2013, 07:21 PM
I can confirm, I lost connection to my server half an hour ago.

Josh is in France on business , I think Simon or Victor should be on right now.

They don't have a 'number' they have never offer phone support/sales.

@volumedrive.com emails are down , there is no way of contacting them.

Josh is away for a few weeks, yes.

Dominick, is on shift and as a matter of fact we were in the middle of an email conversation just when this happened.

There seems to be no information from Burst, so I am guessing this is an VD internal outage.

I thought Dominick's shift ended at 5:30PM over an hour ago? that's why I thought Simon or Victor would be on now.

How often does VD's network fail? This is ridiculous, it's been a couple of weeks since the last time

Posted by Yapluka, 02-01-2013, 07:58 PM
Josh is now aware of the issue and he is working on it.

It seems that their network has been failing a lot more recently. Its already failed a few times in the past month.

That might explain my SSH session disconnects/timeouts recently.

Edit:
Server seems to have come back up now.

If you have something you can fall back to, I can still recommend it, the servers themselves are pretty darn good for the price.

Is your IP within 173.242.120.0/24?

Dominick has noticed the flood and is resolving it.

Jack,

yes, this is a network issue that I can actually see on graphs and top-talkers. This wasn't here earlier.

173.242.125.211

Will be fine for 10min, then drops out.
Problems seem to start at: core.sctn02.volumedrive.com (96.9.191.134)

Didn't know how big the range was ; 173.242.112.0/20 seems to be seeing the issues.

Dominick has stated why above in the email to me.
