Santrex is an old and big provider, they surely didn't close down just like that.

How long has the site been down?

Posted by EvolutionCrazy, 12-28-2012, 07:33 AM
white page on website from here...

part of their networks (UK?) seems to not be announced anymore (like 46.166.130.0/24 )

SSL cert still up and valid tho:

Looks like SpamHaus SBL'd their entire /21
http://www.spamhaus.org/sbl/query/SBL161079

Majority of their upstreams are going to drop that /21 after this most likely. Looks like UK has already been dropped.

Always set aside the range your company is hosted on and don't use it for anything else. Unless of course Santrex was actually spamming and got listed for that. Curious to know what happened there, they have been around long enough to know better, though not with the best rep.

Hi,

We did experience a shortage with our BGP routers in the UK, as a result we've been down for some hours, everything is back to normal, but we do have a partial outage in the UK, nothing to do with our IPS, all blacklisted IPS are being exchanged already in every location with clean IPS, only a few locations are going to undergo the exchange as soon as.

I have a problem loading santrex.net website since 6 months back, got a few friends to try but the same problem persist. Anyone else facing this problem?

You're aware spamhaus will hunt you right? It isn't like those IP's were dirty from your ISP and you're just collateral damage. Those IP's were in your name and the whole /21 is blacklisted because you host nothing but scummy clients.

Once spamhaus finds your next subnets (and they will), they will all get listed too.

The fact that they're exchanging IPs out for clients, instead of trying to get delisted, says it all.

At this point the IP's are listed to RIPE as the party that has to address it.

I'm assuming RIPE will only be able to get it delisted if they revoke the space from santrex. That won't happen, though.

Your UK has been down for a week because UK2 removed your SBL'd annoucenment.

Your SpamHaused ranges: 46.166.128.1 - 46.166.147.1
Clean ranges: 46.166.148.1 - 46.166.183.0

Only a matter when SpamHaus finds out what you did and puts an end on your cyber criminal activity by blicking 2nd part of your ip space

All their ranges are in the same /18 allocation. Really easy for spamhaus.

Hi,

We can not share personal details and information on our current listing, all we can share with our customers is that the IPS in question were listed due to unwanted clients that were taken off the network many months ago, exchanging IPS for clients is there to make sure they benefit from what they pay for fully without any inconvenience.

Hi,

We are no longer hosted with UK2 for over 5-6 months, we already moved 80% of our network to our own hardware, and equipments connected to uplinks directly, clients are fully aware of that, so I'm afraid your comment is not correct at this stage, we do not accept or host criminals on our network, we automatically scan parts of our network which includes ALL our virtual own services to make sure they are free from spam, phishing, ddos, port scanning and other similar types of abuse, dedicated services are only dealt with via complaints in our abuse department or if we detect it by any means whilst assisting clients with their services.

Hmmm is it possible that some months ago (i think about 6 months), there were active in more countries with vps services than they are now?

Hi,

That is true, we have taken all our old locations off our website until we fully migrate them to our own new segments, all available locations can be found at http://www.santrex.net/vps_premium.php any remaining locations will be available once they're migrated, this migration meant Santrex will for the first time run their own IBM/HP servers on our their own bandwidth allocations via various uplinks in different locations.

Hi,

As mentioned previously in another thread to you, we do not tolerate abuse on our network, please refrain from posting such comments that are irrelevant.
