EZPZHosting Down

Posted by Jcollins94, 04-08-2013, 01:49 AM
EZPZ Hosting LA Server "US10" has been down since 12:59 EST.

The server was also down yesterday at approximately the same time for four hours due to a kernel issue.

(note: I am in no way affiliated with the management of EZPZ -- just wanted to let the downtime be known.)

Ouch. So much for the "99.9% Uptime Promise".

Yeah. This node has been particularly bad - I asked them about getting R1Soft backups fixed (for some reason it was disabled), Dan goes ahead and enables them, but I believe that they make their server crash.

Update: after 1h 30 min downtime, the issue appears to be fixed.

Hi,

and yet if you check their pingdom stats for US10, it only shows 5 mins total downtime since the start of April...
US10 Pingdom stats for April 2013

Plus I really think ezpz should rethink their back up strategy, they have real issues with R1Soft, have done for years but they keep going back to them.
But then what are the alternatives?

That's strange, especially because EZPZ did credit my account for the downtime.

But I am pretty sure that they're on their way to getting their R1Soft issues solved.

They had assigned me on US10. I quickly migrated to another one and now on US03.

Shortly after the server came back up the kernel was upgraded and server rebooted to resolve the problem. Anyone affected by this can contact us for SLA credit.

R1Soft (now called Idera), has had a lot of issues over the last few years. Unfortunately, I'm not aware of much else that does what it does, and they have made some improvements and fixes to these ongoing problems.

Bacula It's not feature parity (nowhere near it) but it gets the job done sans issues.

They tried Bacula last year but struggled to get it working properly.
