VPS6.NET issues?

I have two virtual private servers on two separate hosts through VPS6.NET. Both went down at the same time about 3 hours ago. Both were running smoothly with no errors or odd symptoms. One minute they were there, the next minute 'poof' ... offline.

I was immediately alerted via sms text to my cell phone by my monitoring service so my support ticket was timely. A support tech responded 39 minutes later "Let have a check with your server and update you. Please hold on." and I've heard nothing since.

I also e-mailed Chris Parr, my VPS6.NET account manager, and cc'd another 'higher up' there, Lee Clements, but I have not heard back from either of them.

Their last Twitter post was about three hours ago and is probably related to my outage, too. Someone at VPS6.NET posted "Unfortunately there is not much I can do from Twitter -- the Tech Support staff will be able to assist you ASAP via support ticket."

Anyone else here experiencing something similar? Chris? Lee? Are you reading this? My website hosting customers are starting to get very very upset.

Hi Carl,

I do believe I replied to your email earlier -- I will double-check on that in a moment. I would advise you to also open a support ticket with Technical Support for any issues like these, as they will be the first to respond.

We are working to resolve a hardware issue at the DC that has made a handful of our servers inaccessible since earlier today. From what I understand, this work will be completed within 1-2 hours from now. There has been no damage to, or loss of data; the issue is network-related.

Please bear with us as we resolve this -- you are welcome to contact us on the helpdesk, and I will make sure we received your email again as well.

Hi Chris,

I haven't received an e-mail from you. The only thing I've received is the WHT notification of your reply here. I _am_ getting lots of e-mails from my frustrated clients because their websites are down.

Something very strange is happening here. You "advise" me to "open a support ticket" even though, in my original post, I wrote "I was immediately alerted via sms text to my cell phone by my monitoring service so my support ticket was timely." I even quoted from the reply I received 39 minutes later: "Let have a check with your server and update you. Please hold on." The technician's name was "Dinesh."

So I go back to the support tickets and find that the one I opened is _gone_. It isn't 'in progress' or 'closed' ... it has vanished. To prove my point here, I'm uploading two screencaps of the original ticket. Who at VPS6.NET would delete the support ticket, and why?

Now, on to the more serious business at hand: My two virtual private servers and my customer's websites have been down now for six hours. How much longer?

I also have a server in Chicago with the same problem, I got the same answer.

My two virtual private servers came back online at 11:11 p.m. EDT after 9 hours 39 minutes of being offline. As Chris stated, they were fine, no damage or data loss and had continued running while the network repairs were undertaken.

I've been having a ton of problems with my VPS6.net VPS recently as well.

The most common way it seems to manifest a problem is by having the filesystem go read-only. This happened Saturday and took over 8 hours to resolve, during which time the web sites hosted on the VPS were unavailable, all with poor and infrequent communications from support, no explanation of the cause of the problem (despite being asked) and nothing to assure me it won't happen again.

And then this morning...it happened again: filesystem is read only on the VPS once again.

Serial console sessions via SolusVM don't work. Shutdown/restart via SolusVM doesn't work. Even when I can SSH into the VPS, I can't do anything because the filesystem is readonly.

The VPS6.net SolusVM control panel also has an expired SSL certificate since March 28. Poor attention to detail and not very confidence-inspiring.

And...my VPS is again in the readonly filesystem state, rendering it essentially down for the last four hours and counting, with no updates on my ticket.

I have a question.

Why are you using WHT as helpdesk? I don´t think Web Hosting Talk is related to them, so you are best contacting their support staff.

I don't see how any of the posts in this thread can reasonably be construed as "using" WHT as a "helpdesk." Sorry, but that just hasn't been happening here. Real customers discussing real problems and even exchanging real solutions with each other is what this place is all about, isn't it?

This is the "provider outages" sub-forum. I always thought it was for sharing experiences with outages.

I am not expecting any resolution to my problems with the poor stability of my VPS on VPS6.net here, just looking to see if it is a problem others are having or indicative of issues spanning all services from the provider.

As my problem seemed to be due to hardware failure, I am sure it impacted other VPS customers on the same physical host device.

I did suffer file system corruption on my VPS due to these issues

I used to love this company about two years ago. For the past like year or so their servers and networks have gone to crap..I was considering reselling their servers back in the day when their network and uptime was amazing but it slowly just got worst and worst. What makes it so much more annoying is they never have a true answer as to why the server went down or what caused the downtime.

@Nelly21, You must be kidding. VPS6 started it's operations on Dec25-2011 ( 1 year and 5 months) and you used to love it 2 years ago?

This is not single isolated incident where people using wht as their personal help desk
I have personally used them about one year ago.I used to face lots of issues with them.At last I moved from them because of that
