Continuum Down??

Posted by Violent Injection, 05-25-2013, 11:11 PM
Anyone else servers down at continuum?

Posted by wormy, 05-25-2013, 11:14 PM
Very heavy packet loss followed by an outage for the last few minutes. First outage in months for me and what's odd is my dsl(chicago) was also shaky around the same time so it might be a big backbone in the chicagoland area that's burping.

Servers back up. I didn't lose my ssh connections to the boxes either so it couldn't have been anything major.

One of my ip ranges is offline which is strange.

We had some issues as well. We put in a ticket when we first noticed, and we still have not had an update.

Connectivity has seemed to return to normal.

Hopefully some sort of update as to what happened will be given shortly!

Looks like they just went offline again?

Sorry for the inconvenience. We had a /22 over a single carrier suffer a routing issue. Working with the carrier, we were able to determine the cause. Overall, it was a small subset of IP's that were affected.

Yes, the connection to the server I have there is very slow.

Posted by VIPNode-Nick, 06-03-2013, 06:19 PM
Just got off the phone, was advised of a 3.5gbit+ ddos upstream.

Is it normal for datacenters to get these types of DDOS attacks that affects their clients or is this something that Continuum experiences more than other datacenters?

Appears completely resolved as of 18:50 EST

I have great response times to my servers at Continuum.

Posted by VIPNode-Nick, 06-05-2013, 01:06 PM
noticed issues as well, had packet loss and slow ping times for the last 15 mins, back to usual times and no loss atm.

Looks like this is being caused by HE and not Continuum?

Per the talk the other day of a "3.5gbit ddos" I suspect the 1gig links are often facing saturation. We can see the "gigabit ethernet" in the he.net trace.

No, actually they are not often facing saturation. We have not had any reports of loss to our NOC today. Aren't these threads supposed to be limited to current customers and specific to the original outage topic?

I'm just going by the traceroute, its a HE hop that has huge lag.

Getting bad again, this is the 3rd time since my last post.

24% packet loss, 130-250ms through ubiquity/abovenet to continuum... What's going on, guys? Too many issues in a short time to not start questioning network stability.

We were having some issues as well, so we put a ticket in and just got this response (below). Hopefully this will happen, so we stop having these issues.

"This was do to a heavy ddos attack on a client on that access switch you are on. This should be resolved by the end of this week for this access switch so that ddoses are not so affecting across the same access switch. Other access switches are also scheduled but in the near future."
