Bandwagon/IT7 VPS down for 20 hours

Posted by ukdmbfan, 06-06-2013, 04:51 AM
I've got a Germany-hosted Bandwagon Host (IT7) VPS that's been down since 3pm BST (UTC+1) on 5th June. Was told it was due to both RAID-1 drives failing simultaneously and that they were attempting a clone and rebuild, but not heard anything since about 4 hours after it happened (which was the first and only update).

Presumably this is only one host, as there's nothing about any outages on Bandwagon's site. Any other BW customers here affected?

I'm willing to trade cheapness for lower resources and higher contention, but outages this long are simply not providing any service whatsoever. Might have to hop back on Linode.

Rebuilding an ok image from two failed drives won't be a quick task - especially if the drives are large. That's if it will even work to a degree where you can get most files recovered.

The rebuild will take hours, I know that, but I have my own backups and I'd rather just have a new VPS brought up straight away for me to use so I can do the recovery myself, but apparently it's not even possible to get another VPS in the same DC, which means a new IP address and another 24 hours of downtime whilst the DNS propagates.
