tailormadeservers.com down

Posted by kagrimes, 06-21-2013, 01:32 AM
Been about a half hour, my server as well as the main website tailormadeservers.com is not accessible. Can not find out what is going on. There have been periodic outages a lot more recently when usually the reliability is good here.

Posted by spulis, 06-21-2013, 01:34 AM
Down for me as well and no way to find out whats up.

Posted by forumtalk, 06-21-2013, 01:34 AM
correct , all servers down

Posted by cyclinder, 06-21-2013, 01:35 AM
Yep, just register a WHT account to post this. First time in the last several years...

Posted by elmister, 06-21-2013, 01:39 AM
some servers up and some down, local resolvers and TMS site is down

Posted by csgo, 06-21-2013, 01:40 AM
I know Jose is aware of the problem. He rebooted a border router, but that didn't seem to fix the problem. I've been down for about 35 minutes so far.

Posted by karem, 06-21-2013, 01:41 AM
yes it's down and my servers down also

Posted by spulis, 06-21-2013, 01:41 AM
All the faith in Jose sure he will be here to update as they have it.

Posted by cyclinder, 06-21-2013, 01:42 AM
I remember there was a way to contact them via some IM (like yahoo messenger). But i've lost the credentials years ago. If someone still has please do.

He has been contacted by csgo, the worst thing we can do now is disturbing him.

He already knows the problem, we are all in the same business, we don't want hundreds of customers reporting the same problem again and again by phone or IM, once the tech is notified, and Jose is, any additional attempt to contact him is not helping.

I can contact him with some IM but will NOT do it, there is no reason for it.

Some of servers came online. But still Some of them are offline.

I prefer people working on the problem than working on twitter.

Maybe if it takes longer then a tweet would be nice

No twittes has been made for last one year.

Posted by cyclinder, 06-21-2013, 01:53 AM
True, ironically it seems that WHT is working very slow at the moment - my comment appeared like 2 minutes later after hitting Submit Reply button (and overall pages on the site open slow)

That's because there really hasn't been any outages for almost a year, maybe longer.

Posted by bdwebservices, 06-21-2013, 01:54 AM

If they have twitter for updates then why not use it, not going to debate it but this would give people an update rather then speculation, it takes 5 seconds to say we know about an issue and are working on it stay tuned.

Posted by kagrimes, 06-21-2013, 01:59 AM
Yea.. compared to the time it's taken to resolve this (now over 1 hour), 15 seconds to give their customers an update does not take much time. While it is going to be up again at the same time whether they keep us in the loop or not, it just helps put us at ease to relay the message to our own customers or clients about the issue. Hope we get back online soon!

When a host does not officially update a twitter account I just assume they are hiding issues, that loses my respect in the business.

Would have been nice to see an update here I use many other hosts that use this as a great formal method of providing updates and it works very well.

Agreed that Twitter update would be nice, doesn't cost that much time.

Posted by goodsport, 06-21-2013, 02:07 AM
Jose did send instant messages through AIM and yahoo indicating hes aware of the problem and will have the issue resolved shortly

Posted by csgo, 06-21-2013, 02:09 AM
Here's his current status:
Status: Away: We are aware of the problem with the network. We're working on it and we'll get it back to normal as soon as possible.

Posted by mexican, 06-21-2013, 02:09 AM
My server with TMS has been down for the past hour. It looks like a network issue, their own site not working.

Does anyone know any phone numbers of TMS? I never had the need to call them in the 8 months I have been with them.

Posted by mexican, 06-21-2013, 02:16 AM
How do you guys know Jose is working on it? Especially at this odd hour in the night.

Edited:

Ok, I just read some of your posts.

Posted by csgo, 06-21-2013, 02:21 AM
Part of their network is working fine, but other parts are down. Jose told me he was rebooting a border router and he thought that would fix it. His entire network was down for a few minutes, but then we were back to the same problem.

Jose is aware of the problem and is working on it. Beyond that I have no clue.

Apologies for the lack of update... Not used to having outages. Problem with a distribution switch. Should be all good now.
I'm sure he will be here soon

Posted by TMS - JoseQ, 06-21-2013, 02:44 AM
Around 11:55pm, we were testing a distribution switch for an upgrade to alleviate the effects of the DDoS attacks hitting sections of our networks.

It appears a network loop was created accidentally which had the odd effect of putting a distribution switch in another cage offline. It took a while to figure out what the problem was as we were assuming it was local to where we had been working while the symptoms appeared to be network wide. Once the problem was pinpointed, the switch configuration was revised and everything came back online normally.

Our apologies for the inconvenience. We always try to be as careful as possible when working on the network, but this was unfortunately caused by an honest mistake.

Posted by csgo, 06-21-2013, 02:53 AM
Most of us have been in similar situations. Thanks for your dedication to a solid network. Things like this are bound to happen. Just a little communication goes a long way to relieve anxiety.

In all honesty you've been great. Keep up the good work.

-Joe

(I'm going back to bed... exhausted)... no not everyone is happy with me right now, but we all did the best we could.

Weird. Just one of our servers experienced 2 minutes of network outage.

Posted by TMS - JoseQ, 06-21-2013, 10:40 AM
Kushal, the problem seems to have mostly affected only one of our cages. We did reboot our border router, so during that time, the entire network was down. But the actual problem itself was localized to a cage we weren't even working on. This is why it took longer than usual to pinpoint the problem.

Ahh.. great. So my servers were not affected by the larger outage.

Yes, as of around 1:20am CST or so, everything came back online.
