BurstNET Scranton - anyone else having problems?

Posted by Kingfish85, 10-10-2013, 07:00 PM
I have a small Xen VPS with BurstNET in Scranton.

2013-10-10 03:06:59 to 2013-10-10 18:12:28 = Down 15 Hours 5 Minutes (not the 1st time)

Submitted a ticket about 8 hours ago, with no response yet. (High Priority)

Called in all day long, just sit on hold.

//

I've checked the necessary steps first, ICMP multiple locations/ssh/rebooted etc, no connection to it. Running up the block of IP's some reply, some don't.

Trace route dies at hostnoc.net

If anyone from BurstNET is online now, my ticket number is: ZOE-803-69804

Just like how everyone knocks volumedrive for their cheap prices and how people will always go back, same goes for Burst. Cheap windows VPS. The two companies IMO don't feel much different, one is just shady and the other doesn't know a thing about stability and a sometimes rude CEO.

I do believe they are trying but i think they are doing too much at once and unprepared.

We've got a few Dedicated servers with them in Scranton but haven't seen any network drop outs since that fairly big one post migration. If you are both having issues with VPS's it could well be that you are both on the same node and it's having issues.

It's just a small Xen VPS - nothing super critical. I am shocked however, at the amount of time it took to respond to the ticket..

It's just a small Xen (Linux) VPS - nothing super critical. It's only like 10 bucks a month, which I really don't want any money back, I just want it online.

Possibly, I figured it was a node problem. They answered the ticket at about 1AM but didn't give any details.

I certainly would "not" put any mission critical services there, that's for sure.

Nevertheless, considering Shawn said things are better, uptime hasn't improved.

Any issue you are having would be related to the VPS node you are located on, NOT the network as a whole. The network has been quite stale, since the relocation process completed. VPS node performance is subject to usage of other clientele sharing the node. If the performance is not up to par, I suggest getting a Dedicated Server instead, as then usage of other clientele does not affect you.

Agree on the point regarding resource utilization. How would you explain the slow response though? Surely if it isn't a network issue but just a node issue, there wouldn't be a flood of tickets to deal with.

I colocate in 3 locations. Not looking for a dedicated server. I was looking for a non-resource intensive VPS with a wee bit of stability. A VPS with a bad uptime is not a result of a VPS, it's the result of overselling and sometimes yes, abusive customers.

We have been selling VPS in the same price range (non windows otherwise i wouldn't require your services for private usage) and we are able to provide 99.9% uptime guarantee on all our VPS nodes. So to imply or insinuate that if a customer is looking for more stability to switch to a dedicated isn't a solution.

We have 2 VPS systems in their Florida facility. Facing very slow network speeds on both. Even an ftp transfer download happens at 15-20 KBPS . These are on the 184.22.x.X ip range.

UPload of data to the server happens ok , Download from the server ( like download of mails or download via ftp ) happens slow.

Raised ticket to burst but they have not been able to identify anything.
They will not even acknowledge that there is an issue at their end that they are working on . Once they fix it after X number of days they will just update ticket that the issue is fixed and close ticket.

Well put, I agree.

I don't think he's implying or insinuating. It seems quite explicitly stated to me.
