Cloudflare slow/broken

Posted by HocusPocus, 10-23-2013, 01:34 PM
Is anybody else seeing horrific results from cloudflare?

Here's one of my sites using cloudflare
PHP Code:
Server Software: cloudflare-nginx
Time taken
for tests: 20.999 seconds
Connection Times
(ms)
min mean[+/-sd] median max
Connect
: 18 23 9.0 20 48
Processing
: 3337 5258 1347.5 4756 7149
Waiting
: 3318 5237 1344.1 4734 7126
Total
: 3356 5281 1347.2 4804 7175
Same site 5 seconds later, with the IP of the server in my hosts file (bypassing cloudflare)

PHP Code:
Server Software: nginx/1.4.1
Time taken
for tests: 1.715 seconds
Connection Times
(ms)
min mean[+/-sd] median max
Connect
: 125 135 7.7 133 148
Processing
: 254 309 58.5 280 392
Waiting
: 125 172 62.9 141 289
Total
: 382 443 63.7 413 536
It's been off and on like this for about a week.

Any trace routes? I wonder if it's a specific data center having issues?

My experience with CloudFlare on hundreds of sites (mine & clients) has been overall very good. You can always check the status of CloudFlare on the /system-status page.

** To the OP **, rather than switch to another server/IP, just "pause" CloudFlare. When you do that, it is only using CloudFlare DNS and any datacenter issues are bypassed.

When you "pause" CF, if you're still having problems there is something going on other than CloudFlare.

Sorry about the issues in the UK. Please note that all other datacenters were still online and operational, so not all visitors would have seen issues hitting the site(s). An issue in one datacenter is only going to affect visitors that are hitting that datacenter (still not great, I know, so I would like to apologize for the issues in LHR).

had many issues lately.

I'm too near the UK pop... the bad thing is that they do not aknowledge the issue and they reply to tickets only once the issue is resolved or linking you to the generic page about 502 / 504 errors...

maybe we will soon have to get out from there and go direct as were are having ore issues then positive effects
