hostgator servers down

HI

My friend has reseller hosting at hostgator. All his sites seems to be down for few hours... Anybody in such situation?

Their chat wait time is around 30 minutes.

This has been going on for a while now as they're migrating from SoftLayer to Provo Utah still.

Does your friend have recent backups? I have heard of some data being lost here & there.

I did a migration the other day, servers went down (Texas), person was told a RAID array failed, when they came back up, the IP then went to Provo (Utah) - sounds like "hardware failures" is being used to cover up migrations, still.

They were migrating data to some new machines. Thats what i know. I believe backups can be arranged. But does not seem good idea. a lot of things have been updated since backups.

I personally had 1 hour chat with chat support guy. He was able to find "something" wrong which he did not tell me yet. Before that he was just telling me about DNS propagation.

Expect more from HG

My hostgator sites have been down for 24 hours now and they have no eta. Supposedly, they may be back up in 12 hours!!! DO NOT EVER EVER EVER USE HOSTGATOR. They are completely unreliable and will not help you.

Yesterday I ve seen some notification in the hostgator chat page. That some servers are down. And they also posted their forum link on that ...!
